Anthony Horowitz's THE GATEKEEPERS series continues with NIGHTRISE. The Old Ones are still a threat to the safety of the world, and the five young gatekeepers are the only ones equipped to help.
Previously, Matt and Pedro were in Peru attempting to close the second gate. Their attempt failed and Matt was seriously injured. The adventure continues in a new location - Reno, Nevada. A small, rundown theater is hosting a performance ca...more

I've always enjoyed Anthony Horowitz's books, and this is no exception.
The power of five series I find to be, in my opinion, far greater than the Alex Rider series.
The 1st power of five books, Raven's Gate and Evil Star were brilliant, and this one is no exception.
Nightrise I found, starts off fairly slow, as it's the third installment I expected there to be more use of the five's 'powers', as they are no longer a mystery to the reader, but like before, the powers are rarely used.

This is the third book in the gatekeepers series and I have to say my favorite thus far. Jamie and Scott are twins with the ability to read minds and make people do or see things. They try not to use their ability on other people because they have to delve into their minds and therefore only read each others minds. But when the Nightrise corporation, who are working to bring the Old Ones back, try to kidnap the boys, Jamie escapes. In his quest to find his brother he discovers he and his brother...more
Bk 3 in the Gatekeepers series, this book introduces 2 new characters--14 y.o. psychic twins Jamie and Scott. They get caught up in a chase to stay alive after they escape the sleazy mindreading act they were forced to perform in--thugs from the evil Nightrise Corporation kidnap Scott, and Jamie is determined to find him, even if it means going to jail for a crime he didn't commit. Nonstop action. Eventually they meet up with Matt from books 1 and 2, as they travel to an alternate world in the m...more
Having delved through half of American Psycho I decided a new reading material in order to keep sane and Horowitz’s 3rd installment of the Power of Five was indeed very enjoyable even if it is not quite restful.
This book introduces the Tyler boys, Scott and Jamie. Two out of the chosen five, the boys are endowed with psychic powers. At first presented as just telepathy between the twins it soon becomes more apparent that these boys have more than just parlour tricks up their sleeves.

I didn't expect to like the 3rd book in the Gatekeepers saga. Departing from the character focus from the past too books - Matthew Freeman - and onto two telepathic twins, Jamie and Scott. Not only can they read eachothers mind, but they can control the will of others. And that draws the attention of the company Nightrise...

Jamie and Scott Tyler are twins with a special connection. They can read each other's minds. When the Nightrise Corporation takes an interest in them, their lives are plunged into a world of violence and death. In an attempted kidnapped, Jamie escapes while Scott does not. Is Nightrise interested in their mind reading abilities or their darker abilities that Jamie and Scott don't talk about. Or is ir more than their abilities that have caused them to become targets. As Jamie tries to find his br...more
At first I thought Nightrise would be boring because it focuses on Jamie and Scott who have the same powers and have known each other forever, and it was at the beginning but after the first five chapters it started to really pick up and it was great!Nightrise is about Jamie and his brother Scott who live in a town called Reno and perform the same act every day at a circus. Everyone at the circus isn't good at all and has no talent except Jamie and Scott they both can really read each others min...more

I have never read any Anthony Horowitz books before but now I am hooked. Even though this is the third in 'The Power of 5' series, I didn't feel confused about what was happening or worried that I hadn't read the previous books. Though I will definitely be checking them out the moment I get a chance.

I'm reading this series for our local elementary school, K-5th.
The characters are starting to grow on me. I guess that's the way it's suppose to be. This book mainly takes place in Nevada, a few weeks prior to when the second book ends in Peru. (A lot can happen in a few weeks.) Two more gatekeepers are found and this book focuses on one of them. Jamie finds out who he is and the evil things he is up against by traveling back in time - very cool. That helped explain some things about these 5 sp...more

The book; "Nightrise", written by Anthony Horowitz tells the continuation of the story about the cycle of the world's new beginning. This commencement comes after the world's end and after the fight of five gatekeepers to keep the Old away from controlling this world. In this part of the series, after the failed attempt to close the second gates, begins the story of the twin brothers: Scott and Jamie Tyler. When one of the brothers is captured by powerful corporation, named Nightrise, the other,...more

Scott and Jamie are telepathic twins in a magic show. One night, in a kidnapping attempt gone wrong, Scott is taken and Jamie sets out to find him. But with the evil corporation, Nightrise, standing in his way it's going to take a lot for Jamie to rescue Scott. Luckily, he finds some help in a mother who has lost her son and in his dreams.

Third of a series that takes the basic kids-fighting-evil idea and twists it into something new and fantastic. This is my favorite so far. The main character is Jamie Tyler, and to a lesser extent his brother Scott. They're twins, and though they don't know it, they're also Gatekeepers.
Scott and Jamie are circus performers in a very subpar circus until the Nightrise Corporation comes to take them away. Scott is captured while ensuring Jamie's escape. Jamie finds himself suddenly alone, wanted fo...more

I was a little cautious when starting to read this book, as some of my friends that have read this prior to me have mentioned that it bored them and didn't live up to their expectations.
I, however, disagree with their views.
I thought this book was amazing! Really well written, interesting twists and lots of mystery. I enjoyed the hints and links to previous books, events and characters, as they made me feel more involved with the story.

The 3rd book in the power of 5 series.
Scott and Jamie are working as magicians in a rundown Reno casino; startling people with their mysterious telepathy act. What the customers don't know is that it's not an act. The twins can really read each other's mind. Things continue as normal until the day men from the Nightrise corporation break in to the casino to kidnap them. Lost and on the run, Jamie has to find a way to get his brother back before it's too late.

The third of the Power of Five series, takes us on a journey with the third and fourth gatekeepers, telepathic twins, Jamie and Scott Tyler. The story gets seriously complicated, and it is up to the reader to keep up, with three worlds to read about within this book, nothing will seem ovbious at first, but slowly the jigsaw puzzle starts fitting together, and only then does the reader become entranced, and know that the series is far from over. That we are possibly in for, two or three great mor...more
This is the third in the Gatekeepers series. As with the first two, it was very exciting and suspenseful and it looked like the bad guys were going to win.

Of course, insurmountable obstacles are put in his way, but, in the end, they do find each other and then find Matt and Pedro. Scott has been brain...more

Cover Blurb: Yes or No? No; there's a very distinct character impersonator who won't stop staring, and the rest of the cover just doesn't do anything for me at all.
Characters: Scott wasn't in the story enough for me to really form much of an opinion of him either way. And I didn't care about Jamie enough to sympathize with his feelings over losing his twin brother. I didn't dislike Jamie, but I definitely didn't like him as much as Matt.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes books that are fiction and dramatic. For one reason because it is a very good and it hangs like a mystery. I think that it was a good book. I rated this book as a four because it had more potential then what it showed.

So, this is the third book of one of my favorite series, The Gatekeepers!. When I finished reading Evil Star I was a bit dissapointed, not with the story, but with some mistakes I found there. I started to think that maybe this book had an extraordinary plot like the others, but maybe it would contain some errors that would make me start disliking it, but fortunately i'm glad to say that it didn't this was super amazing!!! I was starting to compare this with Necropolis which is like the most inc...more
I'm a stickler for series. I love Darren Shan and the like and when I first opened Raven's Gate I was immediately drawn in, it was a good book. Evil Star was alright and with this: book three in the Gatekeepers saga dubbed Nightrise I wasn't too immersed. It's a young adult's fiction novel of two orphans abandoned in a tunnel near a Washoe native American reservation. Scott, the apparent protector of the two, and Jamie Tyler, the doubting protagonist, performing in a rundown play house in Reno,...more
It's the first time I read a sequel in a series on which events are in parallel to the previous book. Anthony Horowitz took a lot of risks in this book. One is the possibility that he might dissapoint his fans by the no-appearance-at-all of Matt, Pedro, Richard Cole and the rest and having the book in a completely new perspective. But I must say that I am glad he took those risks.
