This is the best Sicari book yet. My main gripe of the previous books was the repetitive phrases. I do have to say that they are still there (Jupiter's Stone!) but MB has leveled off considerably and that greatly increased the enjoyment level. As far as the Italian phrases goes, well, by this time, you should have a grip on them. Now, let's get to the good parts! This book is H.O.T. !! The sexual tension is mind boggling. How MB is able to describe all the intense feelings from both Dante's and Cleo's POV's are amazing and will make you suffer right along with them. I loved getting to know Cleo better and Dante was quite interesting....and a virgin? You have got to love the story line of a woman bringing a man to his knees and him putting her above EVERYTHING else for "amor". Their ability to communicate with each other only enhanced everything else.

But...hang on, there is another love story going on too. Atia and Marcus get their fair amount of page time and it's just as steamy! You even forget that they are a couple of old people! I was glad to see them forgive each other and come back together.

As far as the bad guys go, it seemed a bit deflating how Nicostratus ended up. I really expected more but maybe it was just that MB made things seem easier? I really wanted Lysander to have vindication and maybe he did. I still don't know how I feel about Ignacio. I think he got his due but my heart goes out for him anyway.

The ending wasn't really a surprise. I enjoyed the hints of the relationship between Marta and Draco and so I wasn't shocked at what Draco did. I'm hopeful that there will be another book ~ and about them but I've also heard this is the last one which would be disappointing.

Wow!..this book was REALLY good!! Cleo and Dante were great...she was a kicka** heroine and he was a very sexy Sicari Lord...the sexual tension between those two set the pages on fire from the get go and i have to say...i think this might have been the very first pnr that i've read where the HERO is the virgin!!...it was quite HOT actually!! ;)

With that in mind, I do believe that Inferno’s Kiss, the third book in the Order of the Sicari is one of the best books Monica Burns has written to date. This is a hodge podge of fantasy, adventure, and a not only has one romance, but two within these pages. There’s a hot virgin hero (hurrah) and a secondary romance between a couple in their fifties that’s oh so steamy and intense. With that in mind, I do believe that Inferno’s Kiss, the third book in the Order of the Sicari is one of the best books Monica Burns has written to date. This is a hodge podge of fantasy, adventure, and a not only has one romance, but two within these pages. There’s a hot virgin hero (hurrah) and a secondary romance between a couple in their fifties that’s oh so steamy and intense. At times I was more involved in that romance than the main one. But Monica does write a nice balance for both. Think of Atia and Marcus as Jamie and Claire from Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series. If you’re looking for barely legal characters sexing each other up, you’re not going to find it here.

Inferno’s Kiss has a Da Vinci Code type feel to it with locating mystical scrolls, traveling over various countries and an on the edge of your seat adventure. Cleo Vorenus may seem bitter because of all she has lost and the secrets her mother, Atia has kept from her. She has been through a great deal and is hurting. She's filled with deep anger and wants revenge, and because of that she could get killed. She must re-learn a sense of balance and that’s where she meets, Dante Condellaire, a step away from becoming a Sicari Lord and a man in control of his emotions and needs. He has a taken a vow from an early age to abstain from sex, but that's basically thrown out the window when he meets Cleo. Sparks fly between these two. Dante is torn because of his vow, but he wants Cleo badly. Cleo wants him, but is confused and hurt because he rebuffs her advances. They also must work together to defeat a group of men who want to take down the entire Sicari network and possibly rule the world.

As Dante and Cleo try to come to terms with one another, Cleo’s parents, Atia and Marcus must forgive one another and get over the past hurts between them that spans decades. Marcus loves Atia deeply and wants her back as his wife. These two are overcome with love and passion for each other but have so much to work through. Marcus wants to fix things between them by giving into their desire for one another and coming together as partners both in marriage and in the bond they have that has never been truly broken.

There are two awesome romances in this book combined with great action scenes. I really enjoyed these characters and how they try to work things out between them. And Monica can write some smoldering love scenes, especially ones that happen on kitchen counters.

You can’t get much better than a virgin hero, a stubborn, yet strong willed heroine who teaches him many things (you know what I’m talking about) and an extraordinary older couple, not usually found in romance that will satisfy the reader in so many ways. Monica Burns is another author you should be reading and Inferno’s Kiss and the other Sicari novels should be in your TBR pile ASAP.(less)

Inferno’s Kiss had a slower start than the prior two books, however once the action evolved, it gained my full attention until the end. The story is set in a mythological world of mystery, adventure, sword fighting, scroll deciphering while providing intense physical battles and fiery romances. The primary romance is between Dante and Cleo, but the secondary romance of Cleo’s parents rebuilding their relationship as marriage partners is just as prominent. As the reader, I found myself immersed into not only the Sicari world but the potent chemistry and sexual desire of both couples as they struggle in fighting their feelings for the other. Atia and Marcus were one of the best-written middle-aged couples I have read to date. Although Atia was primarily the one to repeatedly bring up the fact that they were no longer young lovers, it did not deter from her passion that still burned for Marcus or in how she showed it. Their history and remembrance of when they first fell in love made it all the more sweeter when they succumb to their feelings of love and forgiveness. And when Dante finally gave into his vow of abstinence and could no longer contain his desire for Cleo; it was as if a dam had broken to the passion he had denied himself for so long. I adored how Dante, being a virgin, was not ashamed to ask Cleo how to pleasure her and was diligent in doing so. Her erotic images of them engaging in sexual pleasure prove to be all the tutoring Dante needed in succeeding as a new lover! Once a couple, Cleo and Dante continue the fight to bring piece to the Sicari world and face an added obstacle as a traitor is discovered among their own. The outcome of this betrayal is unexpected but provides a satisfying ending to this exciting series.

Inferno’s Kiss is the third installment of the Order of Sicari series. It can be read as a stand alone, but readers will enjoy and have a better understanding of the Sicari world if they start from the beginning. Engaging action and sizzling romances in a lush, fantasy setting, this series is one any adventurous romance reader should not miss.

Really enjoyed this book in the series. I loved the last one but I have to say this may be my favorite. I just really liked it and Cleo. She is just so bad ass! Love her and yummy Dante!! Chemistry between the two was wonderful. This series just gets better and better.

Loved it!!! I just cant believe after three books that its over. There has to be more later. Hint hint MB. lol.. I adore this series. Loved Cleo and Dante. They were such a wonderful couple. I loved that her parents had their story finished as well.

But then came Dante... He is hands down, one of the best male characters I have ever read about. He is an intriguing mixture of a man in authority and of innocence. Also, there is his devotion and might I say (SPOILER) love for Cleo.

And then there is Cleo. She is one of the most hardened characters in this 'Order...more Inferno's Kiss was unbelievable. To be honest, upon reading the excerpt previous to having read the book, I loved the idea of Atia and Marcus. They were the ones who had my attention.

But then came Dante... He is hands down, one of the best male characters I have ever read about. He is an intriguing mixture of a man in authority and of innocence. Also, there is his devotion and might I say (SPOILER) love for Cleo.

And then there is Cleo. She is one of the most hardened characters in this 'Order of the Sicari' series. An incident three years ago leaves her physically and mentally scarred. Add on to that, how her then partner Michael leaves her at a vulnerable moment, and you have yourselves one of the best trained assassins of the Sicari. She pushes herself to do the best, but she also won't let others, especially someone in authority like Dante, push her around. After a while though, her stubbornness frustrated me.

This review won't feel right if I don't mention Atia and Marcus, since their story parallels Cleo's and Dante's in this book. So here we go. With regard to their relationship there was a distinct lack in devotion that exists between Dante and Cleo. That caught me by surprise. Their estrangement (as we find out more clearly in the second book) was a product of their own fault. They both needn't have pushed the other away. Furthermore, for Marcus, his dedication to the Sicari always trumped his devotion to Atia. Now don't get me wrong, yes he is a Sicari Lord, but to the extent that his wife felt like she needed to hide secrets from him because she knew he would blame her because he was so set in his views, isn't something I could appreciate. But the author addresses that, more importantly Marcus addresses that. To say the least, the parallel of this story to Dante's gives us a clear view where Marcus' relationship is lacking.

There was also something else I didn't like. Now this is a huge spoiler. So please don't read this if you want to be surprised. But I knew something was wrong from chapter 3 in this book. So here it goes...

It was how the author got rid of Ignacio. It reminded me of how Suzanne Collins in the Hunger Games got rid of Gale in the third book. By making him do-something/be-a-part-of-something that was utterly unforgivable. It was enough to make me consider strongly, to give this book a four star rating. It would suffice to say that I don't like it when authors who have loose ends with regards to characters in a sort of a love-triangle, find a way to get rid of the third character, for good, maybe because they fear readers won't feel satisfied otherwise. Regardless of their reasons, it is something that made me really frustrated and annoyed. And like I said, I knew where this was going from Chapter 3 of this book.

So with regards to the rating, I thought about it and realised that the book is called Inferno's kiss in reference to Dante's Inferno. It is more prevalently Dante's and Cleo's story than it is Atia's and Marcus'. So only on the basis that the former relationship was developed so well, I gave this whole book a rating of five stars.(less)

To see what happens with Atia and Marcus, characters from the first two books was really exciting and something I had really been looking forward to. I loved their characters and their relationship was so heartbreaking because of the things they've had to endure.

To see what happens with Atia and Marcus, characters from the first two books was really exciting and something I had really been looking forward to. I loved their characters and their relationship was so heartbreaking because of the things they've had to endure.

Then there's Cleo and Dante, who bring a whole new meaning to the term "Virginal". Cleo meets a man who is one step away from being the newly appointed Sicari Lord and who has taken an oath of abstinence. That's right, he's a powerful, intimidating, intense...and a virgin! How could it get any better? Well, there's also family secrets, long lost family members who meet for the first time, reincarnation, magical scrolls that need to be deciphered and an adventure that spans several life times.

Inferno's Kiss was a thrill ride well worth waiting for. Dante feels things for Cleo he never knew he could feel and Cleo can't help but to fantasize about the things she would love to do with him if she can ever get him to stop running away from her.

Marcus and Atia have a lot to over come because of all the lies and betrayal they each feel, but when they come together and see how good it can be again and the fact that their blood bond has never really been broken, makes you believe in true love.

Cleo is probably my favorite character in this whole series, I used to think it was Lysander but after reading the heartache Cleo went through after losing her unborn child and feeling like an outcast because she doesn't posses powers like other Sicari and that fact is even more pronounced after finding out who her parents are. If anyone should have strong sicari powers it's a child of Atia and Marcus. But Cleo more than makes up for not having powers by being a total bad ass who can kick the bad guys ass all by herself. Cleo is not only strong, but a sympathetic character and a survivor who's had to endure the worst pain imaginable. She is without a doubt my favorite character out of all three books.

If you want action packed scenes that actually make sense and don't just have swords blows and blood spurting scenes that go on forever that leave you lost as to what just happened, then this is the series for you. The action scenes are clean and Monica Burns made the action clear as to what is happening and it happens for a reason, just just action for the sake of action.

I didn't think Monica Burns could write another book as good as Assassin's Heart, but I was wrong, this book the 3rd in the series was just as good as the first two books and a great ending to the series. (less)

Tired from the painful news and extremely pissed off with her mother, Cleo asks to be assigned for a mission in Rome to save her friend. The assignment should have been an easy task to get her mind off her troubles but pairing up with Sicari Lord Heir Dante Condellaire is making it impossible. Dante is a man with many obligations and burdens and he carries it on his shoulders. For years, he has practiced celibacy with ease but Cleo tests his vows.

Dante and Cleo take a thrilling ride to find missing scrolls to uncover a mystery within their world. Monica Burns waste no time throwing in plot twists and connecting the dots to all the questions from the previous books. In my opinion this book is definitely the best in the series. Dante and Cleo is an amazing couple. I loved the fact that Dante is a virgin hero. To top it off the author slowly works on Marcus and Atia’s relationship. They have shared so much heartache and loss. It is great to know that they have finally let go of the past.

This book is full of action and drama. The fight scenes are great. The plot curves and bends with shocking revelations. I don’t know if it is the author’s love for exotic places but she draws out the locations with perfect details in each of her book. I got hooked from the first page as she swept me through the cities with excitement.

I think this could be a stand alone book but I would recommend reading the first two will give readers insight to the characters and their relationship.

We rejoin the world of Sicari right where we left of with the last book, Assasian’s Heart. We actually backtrack just a little bit because Phae is still in a coma when we meet up Atia. While Atia is not the main focus of this book, she and Marcus play a vital role in this book. They have been featured as a secondary couple in the past and their relationship continues to be volatile as they fight their feelings for one another. Like mother, like daughter and both Cleo and Atia are stubborn till the end leaving the men in their lives fighting to let them in. Both relationships followed similar paths, so having both of them featured in Inferno’s Kiss was perfect. It also gave finality to an entire family’s future, both relationships affecting the other in some way.

Inferno’s Kiss has a very slow burn when it came to Dante and Cleo, which was good and bad. I loved it because it gave their feelings time to develop and grow, but it also drove me crazy because Dante was being so stubborn! Here is the quick version of my frustration with him. Dante took a vow of celibacy when he was fifteen, many encouraged him to not rush into this choice because he was so young, but he thought it was his duty to honor this vow. But at fifteen how many of us really know what we want out of life? I don’t think many do, and Dante should be included in this group. His desire to please his mentors and have a sense of belonging clouded his judgment and led him into a vow that would always put his needs second. It is a choice he never regretted, until the first second he laid eyes on Cleopatra. While, it does take them a while to finally give into their initial feelings once they do it is hot! Monica knows how to build up the tension until it is practically spilling out of the pages and the anticipation can be just as good as the main event. I enjoyed watching Cleo slowly show Dante there is more to life than duty and in return Dante showed Cleo that letting people in does not always mean you get hurt. The couple complimented each other well and I appreciated Monica taking the time to develop the characters fully, both separately and together.

The mythology in this world continues to blow me away. The Sicari and Praetorians are a group of people I never heard of until this series and each novel brings new information that affirms my love for these characters. Past lives, telepathic and telekinetic abilities, ancient civilizations and romances that can span lifetimes blend together in this world and leave the reader aching for more. It commands your full attention and makes it easy to fall in love with the lore and the people whose lives it affects.

The ending of this book was a blur of action and revelations that were both shocking and heartbreaking. That is one of the things I have come to admire about Monica’s writing, her ability to write great plot twists. In Inferno’s Kiss, there is a traitor in the Sicari ranks and I had absolutely no idea how deep that betrayal was going to be. Once their identity was revealed, I was staring at the words open-mouthed in complete shock. Looking back now, the clues are there and it made sense, but it caught me off guard and my heart broke for the character’s lives that were impacted because of the traitor. I am eager to see what will happen next because of events that unfolded in Inferno’s Kiss.

Overall, this series just keeps getting better with every installment. Monica has created a fascinating world filled with an intriguing mythology and well developed characters that will keep you coming back for more. I have not seen any mention of a fourth book yet, but I am keeping fingers crossed that we get to see more in the Sicari world. As long as Monica keeps writing them, I will keep reading them!(less)

OMG... I loved this book! What an awesome ending to Monica's Order of the Sicari series. This was a double-couple treat with the story of Cleo and Dante AND also of Atia and Marcus. There were also updates on previous couples in the series which I thoroughly enjoyed... most especially Lysander and Phae.
Monica really outdid herself as I thought this was the BEST of the series... and seeing how I gave each of the other books in the series 5 stars, this one truly epitomized excellence...

This was a really good book. Didn't like it as much as the second, but I don't think anything could have beat that book. I enjoyed the story with Atia and Marcus as well as the main couple Cleo and Dante. I really enjoy Monica Burns writing and story lines. Great series! Definitely will read this series again!

Shelves: immortals

I have thoroughly loved this series from beginning to end. It's different. There's lots of twists. The storyline is very strong with a lot of details that I love. I am very sorry to see this series end. And I really hope that Monica Burns can find a publisher that is willing to continue the story.

I felt a little let down with the third book of the Order of the Sicari, I didn't feel the chemistry between Dante and Cleo as I should have done and wasn't overly pleased with the secondary relationship between Cleo's parents. However, I was pleased with the ending and have high hopes for the fourth book!

Was asked to read this one. I enjoyed this one, it was intelligent storytelling that moved along well. I liked the characters and the pace. I liked the unique blend of fantasy and history. A good read.
