Ik hou normaal gezien niet van Belgische schrijvers, maar Brijs heeft me bewezen dat Belgisch ook voor kwaliteit kan staan. Het verhaal is erg origineel en ook de vorm is bijzonder ingenieus bedacht. In de 3 delen verandert hij steeds van vertelpersonage en deel 2 is zelf een mengeling van flashbacks en huidige situaties. God en het religieuze speelt een zeer belangrijke rol in dit verhaal en we kunnen dan ook veel elementen terugvinden die iets met religie te maken hebben. Een aanrader voor ied...more

Although the pretense of the book has some strong points, the overall plot line does not converge into any cohesive story. The tale attempts to interlace the past with the present with flashbacks and forwards that do not relate except to create a character outline, which ultimately turns out to be rather weak. The only part that does tie the narrative together is the climactic scene which was surprisingly hardcore and the most lively part of this rather flat and emotionless story.

Niet slecht, maar ik begreep niet waarom dit voor zovelen het boek van het jaar was (Ik las het al een tijdje geleden).
Het verhaal was goed gevonden, de personages goed uitgewerkt, maar toch ded dit boek het niet helemaal voor mij.

Prachtig boek. Ik ga dit ook bespreken voor mijn examen 'literaire creatie' net omdat hij zo met taal en schrijfstijl speelt.
