This is a great book for upper elementary or lower-level middle school students. The students can easily relate to the character. The plot provided suspense and twists to keep the student reading and engaged. It also introduced a topic rarely discussed in children's literature: art. Decent read. I would recommend this to students.

A great book for any age. It's about a boy who knows nothing about his father, and goes on a surprise trip to Main. In Main he meets another kid who spy's on so-called "Fake Man." There is a secret behind fake man and his father but one day the secrets combine and he finds out the truth to both.

I found Following Fake Man to be an excellent read. It kept me interested the whole time and I never knew what to expect or what was going to happen next. I don't think anyone could of guessed this story line!

Sorry to say, this plot does not have a lot going on for me. Plus, the book turns tones from a lighthearted mystery to a family tragedy too abruptly near the end.

This Book is by far my favorite book ever written. It isn't as well know as some other books but it is the best book written. everybody should read this.

I could see my higher level readers enjoying this book due to the intriguing figurative language and the depth the author reaches with her story. Not for just anyone!

YA book. Deals with the angst of being a teenager and having identity problems. There is a suicide in the book.

I thought this was more of an young adult book than one that is targeted at 5th - 6th graders (reading level).
As an adult I really enjoyed this book. I liked the different character's getting their turn to tell part of the story. I know who Elvis is. I liked the suspense that it built up and the surprize ending.
At the end, I liked learning that each one of us has a story to tell. You can not and should not judge a book / person by their cover.

I htought this book was okay. This book is about a boy named Homer Win throp and experienced the deatth of his father. His mother does not have a good relationship with him and he found a new friend that was able to help him through all his troubles and to stat a better life.

A 2006 California Young Reader Medal Nominee. Does not work well as a read aloud. References to Elvis may not resonate with the target age group.

One of my students took off with this book one year, which I still have not gotten over. It was very sad, but had a satisfying ending.
