This is a book in the Abby Knight Flower Shop mystery series. I was torn between giving it 4 stars or 5 stars and finally decided that it deserves 5 stars. This is a long-running cozy mystery series and all of the books are well-written solid mysteries that are fun to read, too. In this one, Abby is blissful that her engagement to hunky Marco is finally public and other than a few minor details, like a future mother-in-law who would like to plan everything herself, life is serene. Then her Briti...more

“To Catch a Leaf” is the newest installment in the Flower Shop Mystery Series by Kate Collins. Don’t let the cutesy title deter you. This is a solid mystery with likeable characters and a fast-moving plot.
Flower shop owner Abby Knight is finally, officially engaged to her boyfriend, fulltime bar owner and part-time detective Marco Salvare. She’s determined not to let the loving interference of her mother and her mother-in-law to-be in the wedding plans deter her from enjoying every minute of her...more

As Abby and Marco dig into the case they find there is more to it than they initially thought and need to examine everything that is happening very carefully. I was struck by the parallels between this book and the one I reviewed last week on Stuff and Nonsense, The Language of Flowers. Both feature a florist as a main character, and both of the plots heavily rely upon communications using flowers as a code.

But those are the only similarities between the two. Abby Knight, the florist who is the protagonist of the Flower Shop Mysteries, lives and works in the small town of New Chapel, Indiana where she grew up. She and Marco Salvare, owner of Down the...more

I pre-order this series before the announcement even dries. Yes, I have the next one on my list to order which should tell you, This book was fabulous.

Abby and Marco our Private Investigator couple, who own a flower shop and bar as well, are caught up in a personal case as they attempt to plan their wedding (and, I better receive an invitation.) Grace Bingham, an employee/friend of Abby's "Bloomers," walks into a murder scene of her friend, the wealthy Mrs. Newport and the police think they have...more

You already know I loved To Catch a Leaf but I truly believe this is the best book Kate has written. This story is multifaceted and complex and perfectly paced. There are twists and surprises along with the comfort of the characters we have all grown to love.

When reading about Marco's mom trying to overtake the wedding I had to pause and think "did Kate ever meet my mother?" While we are not Italian reading about Francesca was just like conversations I had with my own mother while planning my ow...more

All is looking rosy for flowershop owner, Abby Knight; she just announced her engagement to the hunky Marco, owner of Down the Hatch bar and grill and her flowershop, Bloomers, is finally showing a profit. Yep! Life is definitely good . . . . . until she hits the cat or at least thought she did. This mysterious kitty will play a large part in the story.

When Grace Bingham, Abby's assistant, receives a considerable inheritance from her friend, the wealthy Constance Newport, she is flabbergasted th...more

To Catch A Leaf is the twelfth book in the A Flower Shop Mystery series.

Things are great in New Chapel and Abby is feeling great as she has been able to announce her engagement to her hunk Marco. She is looking forward to letting everyone at Bloomers, her flower shop, know the good news.

Once at work, Grace, one of workers, needs to change her lunch hour to visit a elderly friend. So at lunch time Grace head to see her friend Constance Newport, a very wealthy resident of New Chapel. Soon Grace i...more

To Catch a Leaf is the first book I have read in the Flower Shop Mystery series and it won’t be my last. There is enough mystery, love and suspense to keep me guessing and reading to the very end. Even though this was the 12th in the series, I was never lost or confused. It can definitely be read as a stand-alone.

Abby Knight is a florist and part time private snooper, I mean investigator. One day as she is on her way to the flower shop, she has to slam on her breaks in order not to run over a...more

Actually a 3 1/2 star read, but GR doesn't do half stars.

This is one of my favorite series. A lot of times, series start off well and sometime around or after book 3 or 4, they just become dull. Maybe the author is bored of writing them? But this series continues to really be wonderful- the last two books are as good or better than even the earliest ones.

A very good addition to a series that got steadily better with each book. I still think her cousin is way more annoying than entertaining - nobody is truly that stupid. But the cast of characters are fun and the plot was good - enough red herrings to keep me from guessing until the end. I'm looking forward to the next one.

I thought this was very well done. The relationship between Abby Knight and Marco Salvare continues to entertain. The plot moved along quickly and contained a neat tie-in to Abby's flower shop. Easy to read and I always felt like reading on, despite there not being obvious "cliff-hangers" at the end of each chapter.

Abby and Marco are recently engaged but instead of being excited about invitations, dresses and parties, Abby is worried about her friend Grace and Marco is more worried about dodging his mother. Through in a nightmare of a family and not so missing cat and you have a decent cosy mystery.

Yet another great installment in this wonderful series. I don't often give 5 stars but this whole series definitely deserves it. It just keep getting better and better. I love the continuity between books as well. This one certainly did not disappoint. The characters are great, as always, and the plot was very clever. Had me guessing throughout, and not one of my guesses was right LOL

A good suggestion for American cozy readers. Light fare with humor and romance. The amateur sleuth works in a florist shop in Indiana, not far from Chicago, and teams up with her private investigator/restaurant-owning fiancé.

A nice, entertaining read – quite quick, and I got sucked in and had to stay up late to finish. I thought I had it figured out about halfway through, but there was a bigger twist that I didn't see coming. It's dangerous owning a flower shop, yo.

An entertaining read. I like that Abby was fairly careful of her safety. Not stupid like some heroines. There was a bit of an interesting twist at the end. I will be looking forward to the next in the series. I have missed some previous ones and I will be looking for tbem.

These are just fun books and I'm already looking forward to reading the next. Sometimes the plot is a little predictable but I keep coming back for more.

The book was good. I like books with reoccuring characters. This author is from Indiana and like to support local writers.

When Abby finds a kitty with a broken leg, she takes her to the vet. When she arrives at her flower shop she discovers her friend Grace is caught up in a murder. In the meantime, Abby must deal with her fiance's mother trying to throw her a shower and her mother with her art projects.
A quick reading cozy mystery.
