Karin is a cute little girl who also happens to be a vampire...with a twist. Once a month, she experiences intense bleeding from her nose--we're talking gushers! In other words, she's a vamp with blood to spare, so rather than stealing blood from humans she actually gives her blood to them. If done right, this can be an extremely positive experience that benefits the "vict...more

Jackie "the Librarian"
Karin, klutzy Japanese schoolgirl, is also an adorable misfit vampire. Unlike the rest of her gothic family, she has no trouble with sunlight, eats regular food, and is hopeless when it comes to controlling bats or other people's minds. She can't even do the blood-sucking thing right - instead of taking blood, she injects it, if she can find an appropriate person. Otherwise, she just gets an embarrassing nosebleed.
And there's a boy, the new kid at school, Kenta, whose mom keeps losing her job c...more

The premise of this story seemed a little silly at first glance, but by the end of the book, I found the whole thing very charming! A reverse vampire is really rather original, and delightfully problematic for poor Karin! I love how each chapter is called an 'embarrassment' instead of a 'chapter', it really speaks to the tone of Karin's character. I like concept that a vampire sucks the blood of someone with certain characteristics that attract them, it gives the manga-ka's version of vampires a...more

Awesome manga! Totally did not expect it to be that good.

I adored this manga, it was sweet with a vampire twist that was fun to read. Chibi Vampire I happened to start reading back in eighth grade and fell out of contact with it after failing to purchase incoming volumes. With 14 volumes published, I decided to get back into the series and pick up where I left Karin and Kenta.

Karin's story is different from most vampire tale that I happened to come across. She is a blood producer rather than...more

This book was most awesome and super duper CUTE!!!!

I must admit that this is my very first Manga Book so I had no idea that you have to read it backwards.

I picked it up from the library the other day

(forcing my son come in with me because even though he thinks he's super cool it would not be super cool to have to take him to the hospital because he roasted in the car while waiting on me to get my books) and my son is the one that told me "OH!! YOU got a manga book!"

and after I was like "How do...more

This book was so cute! Karin is a Vampire. But she's not a normal vampire. Unlike her mom, dad, older brother Ren, and little sister Anju, Karin gets up during the day ad goes to school. Also unlike them , Karin doesn't drink human blood. Every month she get an increase in her amount of blood and has to get rid of it so she bites people and injects the with her blood. If she doesn't then she'll get a major bloody nose. By major I'm talking coat the whole classroom red Major. So she bites people...more
Adorable. My first foray into manga was with Death Note, a very serious book about a boy who can kill anyone by writing their names into his notebook. Chibi Vampire on the other hand is about vampires, but the main character, Karin is super cute and doesn’t actually suck blood, but instead gives it to humans who are in need (or something). The plot isn’t super important, but the characters are fun and it was easy to read. There is the possibility of a romance, but at least in the first book ther...more

Great series!! I loved the whole Un-vampire thing. She gives blood instead of drinking it.

Chibi Vampire is the story of Karin Maaka, a high-school girl with a very unusual problem. She is a vampire, but not just any vampire. She is a "blood-maker" who essentially somehow produces too much blood. Instead of draining a victim of blood, she has to actually "give" a victim blood, or else she's uncontrollably spew blood everywhere. Yes, you read that right. Spew blood everywhere. Fun huh?

I'll admit that this premise is somewhat strange, and kinda gross to boot. What makes it worthwhile is...more
I thought this was really cute! I liked the premise: a vampire that gushes blood instead of sucking it. She was adorable and I really enjoyed the artwork. I'm looking forward to the others in this series. :)
I watched the anime years ago, and recently I found 13 volumes of the manga, so now I am going to read this manga.

It is really an awesome manga, Karin is really sweet and a great "vampire". :)

Piti niitata tämä palasiksi, mutta sainkin camp-vamppis-feministiherätyksen ja hihittelin pitkin kirjaa. Toivottavasti tässä on joku twisti, mutta pahaa pelkään.
By far my favorite Manga series.
Series overview:

'Chibi Vampire' (original title 'Karin', after the main character) is a 14-volume manga series with various problems. There are a ton of plot holes; the "heroine", despite being a cool addition to the vampire lore in that she's a reverse-vampire who can only give blood to humans (or else she gets gushing nosebleeds), is nevertheless a pretty typical female lead found in shoujo titles, and she feels an absolute failure when she thinks she can't give her boyfriend children or a big...more

Karin Maaka is a vampire. Once a month her blood increases and starts bleeding from her nose. To avoid getting intense nose bleeds she has to inject it to someone else. She is a vampire who gives blood rather than taking blood from humans. But when the transfer student, Kenta Usui, is around Karin, her blood reacts to him and her increasing blood even comes earlier every month. Karin has to avoid Kenta as much as she can but he is in her class and has the same job as her. Soon Karin finds out th...more

Hasta ah...more

Recommends it for: Anyone who loves a good vampire comedy story
Plot Summary: This cutely drawn Manga revolves around awkward 15 year old Karin Maaka who wants nothing more but to fit in with her peers. But unlike the rest of her peers, Karin comes from a family of proud vampires who's hobbies include sleeping during the day and sucking the blood of mortals in Japan. However, unlike her full-fledged vampire family, Karin bleeds once a month, but not in the way you think. Every month, Karin's blood increases she has to deal with dreaded, gushing nosebleeds th...more
Plot summary: Karin Maaka is a high school student in Japan and trying to live as normal a life as possible – except that she's from a vampire family. The only one of her family who can stand to be outside during the day, Karin is considered pretty abnormal. Rather than wanting to take blood from humans, Karin has a disorder that increases the amount of her blood once a month – and if she doesn't give it to someone, she suffers terrible nose bleeds! When she does find someone to give her blood t...more

Intriguing but weird. That's my reaction to the first volume of Chibi Vampire. I love how popular vampires are in manga. Vampires are a universally loved paranormal creature. Quite ironic.

There's a lot about this first volume that is very typical teenager. Girl meets new boy. Attracted and confused by boy. Girl doesn't fit in. Especially not with her family. Girl faced with adversity. Has to make hard choices.

The vampire thing adds quite a twist. Karin isn't a traditional vampire. She is more an...more

Hmm, iv'e read alot of manga, but this one is defealy the most "unique" (or should i say werid? dont want to offened the fans) I heard that the anime sucked but the manga was much better. So I decied to try it out. Um, hm. I guess i could say it was "cute" and
"romantic" but I be lieing to myself. After we get to realise that Karin is not a normal "vampire" we follow her around her boring everyday life that no one really cares about. We get introduced to a strange boy that Karin feels attactted...more
Karin and her family is a vampire family from Japan. They've been there for almost 200 years. Vampires have a taste for blood, and so Karin is in search for her taste of blood. When this new guy, Usui-kun, transferred to their school after her mom's work accident Karin seems uneasy. Then her family made a way to fix Karin's problem, but there is something that they aren't telling her (even I don't know, so I have to keep reading).

I love Chibi Vampire! HAHAHA. I was hesitating to read this, since...more
i loved all but one thing in this series the end.for me the end was pretty sad her family decided it would be best for her if they erased all her memory of anything that had to do with them leaving her in the hands of kenta since she was pretty much a human anyway but still promising that they would look over her and her family forever.
Cute and interesting. Odd that she gives blood rather than takes it, and it's always great when you can find a manga that also has a novel to match. May not be for everyone, and it's pretty outlandish (as most mangas tend to be) but if you have an open mind this story is a lot of fun.
I've watched a lot of anime, but I'm still new to manga, so it's hard for me to give an accurate review of this book. It took me a little bit to start to grow use to the format of the book, but I loved the artwork, the characters, and the interesting and unique concept behind this.

Vampire books are everywhere these days and I haven't had much of an interest in them, but, even though this first volume didn't take me long to read, I can't get it out of my mind. The main character is very likeable,...more
Chibi Vampire vol. 1 was a little slow at first but it picked up about halfway through and I ended up thoroughly enjoying it! :) However, the over explaining side blurbs like "she doesn't know his name yet" or "he's just trying to be helpful" and such were a little annoying/excessive. BUT that was mostly at the beginning and all the crucial scenes were very well done. It was also a little hard to follow at times. There was some jumping between characters and days that made me stop and check to s...more

Karin Maaka has a complicated life. Born into a family of vampires, Karin is the black sheep because instead of taking blood from humans, she feeds them blood. When she meets Kenta Usui, it's a disaster. She can't even breath when she's near him. How can she keep her vampire nature a secret from him when she runs into him at every corner she turns?

At first, I thought Chibi Vampire was going to be a silly story, but after a few pages, I realized that this is a story with a lot of depth and intri...more
I originally started watching the anime a few years ago, but never got very far. I was thrilled to learn my library had these books! The manga is wonderful, and I can't wait to read more!
