Update - This book has just been short-listed for the Norma K Heming Award - marking excellence in the exploration of themes of race, gender, sexuality, class and disability in the form of science fiction and fantasy or related artwork or media. I love this book! I've loved all of the Quantum books from Kim Falconer, but this one is the best so far.
Road to the Soul ties together many elements in a dazzling weaving of story threads, and provides answers to many of the questions raised in the earlier books. Falconer's world-building skills are impressive, and she juggles two separate physical worlds (including alternate versions of each) and a multitude of time periods, all without dropping a single ball. I really enjoyed this book. I loved the characters and the story was fantastic. There was brilliant character development - I loved Tryn and Quillian. The plot line flowed really well, there were a few things that I didn't see coming. Strong battle scenes and the vivid discriptions are fantastic. This is a must read book! If you like Traci Harding - then you will LOVE Kim Falconer!!
I don't cry with movies but when I read a good book (like this one) where I get to know the characters, their motives, feelings and aspirations, it tears at my soul when something happens to them
