Wingless (Wingless #1)
by
Cydney Lawson (Goodreads Author)
Charlie thought his summer was going to end like every other summer before it. With a growing sense of forboding and a waning sense of freedom. Until Tane landed on his front lawn in a crumpled heap claiming to be from heaven. A place much darker and much greater than he’d ever imagined. Tane is on a mission to find a Septar, a citizen of Fismuth that was left behind when...more

Short but sweet! And I don't mean 'sweet' as in 'aaaaww', but more as in 'dude.... sweet'.
I dunno why I wrote that.
Anyway, this book is not about angels. Some people think it is. But it's not. It's about HEAVEN. But angels aren't the rulers of heaven in this story.
Yes, we've already started to peel off the skin of the 'why is this book really interesting' banana.
Sidenote: The angels are not being treated fairly. I demand a rebellion T_T

My Review:
I really liked this! Thanks to the author for asking me to review it!
I really liked the overall idea of this book! I'm a little confused about the angels though. I don't understand why they made the angels their slaves. I think the angels are nice and they're being so mean to them!
Also, I didn't really like Charlie. I totally agree with Gaius, he thinks too much about her. Think pink elephants Charlie. I like Gaius. If they could have partners in Fismuth, I'd like it if Tane and Gaius...more

Cydney Lawson’s debut novel, Wingless, is very interesting. It’s definitely very unique; I’ve honestly never seen an “angel book” approached quite like this. I certainly give the author full marks for creativity and inventiveness.
Basically, “heaven” is really run by these gifted humans who’ve enslaved all “angels” and set up a weird, almost dystopian, society. Isn’t that cool? Yeah, it is. Tane is sent to earth to retrieve a wayward citizen of heaven, and in the process she falls in love with pa...more

Wingless may be one of the most unique angel type books I have read or even heard about. The lore is completely different from anything I have come across and it made it a real page turner. When I read that it all begins with a naked girl falling from the sky and landing on a teenage boys lawn, I kind of assumed it would be a typical paranormal romance, when really it is the farthest thing from it. It did take me a little bit to get into the story, but I attribute that to reading it the first we...more

As the title says it: Wingless. This book is not about angels. But they do come from Heaven. Who landed--practically landed --on Earth. Tane, a not-angel-but-Fismuthian girl has landed from Heaven to Earth to retrieve the Septar. A Fismuthian as well.
I don't quite get the story at first but eventually I've understood it. The next chapter (and a different POV) was fun (and funny) that hooked me up right away. The world building wa...more
