5 Simon Catnip Stars

 photo 11848596_zpsq2zy51w8.gif

“A handsome, scarred stranger who heals children and can’t be touched emotionally,” Dakota said lightly. “He’s like catnip.”

Perfection! OMG I love Simon so fuckin' much. Now that is a hero. God I wanna just throw him down and rub all over him. Scarred, damaged, angry and hurting. I just wanted to kiss all his boo boos better. To fix him, make him happy. This book was everything I wanted. I loved Montana. She was sweet, funny, and totally accepting of Simon and his burn scars
Montana Hendrix has finally found her dream job - working with therapy dogs. Working with them is everything she ever wanted, so when she looses control of one of the dogs, and the said dog runs into a hospital wreaking havoc, she doesn't need Dr. Simon Bradley yelling at her to feel bad.

Simon has a good reason to be furious - a dog in a burn unit where a lot of patients can't be exposed to germs is bad. Granted, it was an accident, but still, the irresponsibility of it puts him on edge. If onl

The second of the Hendrix triplets, Montana, who thinks of herself as the not-so-successful one, finds true love in this lovely follow up to last month's Only Mine. Finally coming into her own, career-wise anyway, as a service-dog trainer, Montana's first encounter with surgeon Simon Bradly is less than ideal. An over-eager dog named Fluffy runs wild and ends up in Dr. Bradley's burn ward, with a frantic Montana rushing in after her. After giving her a dressing down a Marine drill sergeant would ...more
This is the fifth book in this series (I think) but I've only read four of them. I'm going to complain in general because all of the books are really similar. I hate how these end as soon as the I love you's are declared. Like life is all happily ever after as soon as it's said. Silly. In more than one book of this series, the heroine has gotten pregnant "accidentally" and then had to of course decide to raise the child on her own, absolving the father of all responsibility because they don't wa ...more
Susan Mallery is a genius. A miracle. An Author Goddess. I love her. And I loved this book. Ever since I learned the premise of this book, I was excited to read about Montana and Simon. And they did not disappoint at all. In fact, they were better than I hoped. The plot was pretty fantastic, too, and I wasn't remotely bored or disinterested at any point in the novel.

With each book I read about the triplets, I am amazed by how different they are. The previous book of the series was about Dakota,
It was a cute enough book.
I can not seem to make myself say that I did not like it.
But the truth is this: Everyone was so sweet! I am having a sugar rush just looking at the page featuring this book on the site.
The heroine was so nice I started imagining her as the fifties super nice wife next door.

Not really funny when you think about it, eh?

All in all, read this only if you are prepared to go trough talk about everybody and their grandmamma in a sweet little town where you encounter a sweet li
3/5 stars. Oh my!

There is a lot I liked about this book. I liked the hero and his dilemma. I liked the supporting characters and I liked the involvement of the burn unit and Kalinda.

But I disliked a whole lot too - allow me to rant for a moment. I started to get annoyed with the way that Mallery introduces characters from past books. We get an entire synopsis of their own book. It starts to get eye-roll-worthy-annoying. I also found that this happened in relation to Montana. Everyone kept saying

And this is why I continue with the series, even after two in a row that I kind of hated. Or, at least, this is what I had hoped for. I find Mallery's characters really engaging when they aren't being selfish about children.

Montana really is all that and a bag of chips. I loved everything about her, from her courage, to her strength, to her caring about her family and friends, and I even found her insecurities engaging (probably because she was able to acknowledge them and she was working so har
Only Yours is Montana's story. She has finally found her dream job, working with and training special therapy dogs. One of her dogs has become a favorite of hers, especially because she is a little wild and probably won't qualify as a therapy dog. The dog's wild behaviour becomes a problem when Montana takes Fluffy for a walk and she runs straight into the burn unit of Fool's Gold hospital where Simon works.

WOW! Susan Mallery has definatly done it again with this one. One of my fav. things about SM's books is that there is no warm up period. There is no just keep reading, it gets better, it's just good from the start! And Only Yours followed that same pattern. I mean I was in love with Simon by Chapter two for goodness sakes!lol And I have a feeling there will be a lot of us readers that fall in love with Simon and his tortured past, his intensity, and his need to heal anyone who might be suffering ...more
I have to say the second group of 3, "The Only's", I have enjoyed much more than "The Perfect's". Not sure if because of the triplet's personalities or what, but I read them easily in one day. The hero Simon did take awhile to grow on me, but I LOVED him in the end. My only wish in both this book and book 4 is that when the hero hurts the heroine, which happened several times in both books, I wanted the hero to run back to the heroine and ask for forgiveness, not let 1 to 2 weeks pass before the ...more

I enjoyed ONLY YOURS but missed some of the fun that could have been added.

Simon Bradley is probably the best burn surgeon around, but that comes at a price. Burned himself, Simon works off his own penance by not allowing himself to have a life outside of work. Believable characters are important, especially so in romances. You already know the general plot and how it will turn out, right? I once refused to finish reading a book because it the characters were entirely unbelievable (15th century Scottish warrior telling the heroine to take a hot bath and relax didn't ring true). Susan Mallery's "Only Yours" is at the opposite end of that spectrum. Her characters are fully realized and completely believable.

Montana Hendrix trains therapy dogs. She gives
I badly need a reviewing break, but after writing about all the books in this series I wasn’t that crazy about, it seems only fair to say at least a few words about the one I really did like. It was so good to see some real heat and passion in this story, and the balance between “novel” elements and “romance” elements was just right. I liked that the story had other things going on in it to support the romance: both Montana and Simon have meaningful, important careers that were interesting to re ...more

After reading Only Mine all I wanted was to get the next book so I could plunge right back in Fool's Gold. Only Yours focuses this time on Montana's story. I can already tell you it was a cute and funny story! Not that I doubted it would be anything but. *wink*

I've enjoyed this series up to this point, but I think this book is probably my favorite of the series so far. I loved just about everything about this installment of the “Fool's Gold” series. It had me hooked in right from the start and I read it in less than a day. Didn't want to put it down.

Another score for Susan Mallery and her Fool's Gold Series. Only Yours, the follow up to Only Mine, which will be out in stores at the end of the month, is a hit! Montana Hendrix, therapy dog trainer and one of the famous Hendrix triplets, sets her sights on the new burn specialist, Dr. Simon Bradley. Simon, who is as her sisters say "A sexy, scarred loner, can't stop himself from the overwhelming passion he feels when he sets his eyes on Montana, but h

Why read: Love the Fool's Gold series.

What impressed me: After reading both Ethan and Dakota's stories, readers will really feel as if they personally know the Hendrix family. This makes us immediately much more invested in how Montana's relationship works out. Now that she's finding her place in the world, you root for her and Simon the moment you meet him (as abrasive as he is). Simon is really the star of the novel. His complete emotional detachment is reminiscent of Raoul's romance, but it's

Loved it! How you could not love a book that opened up with a scene with such an adorable dog? I've read a lot of the more recent books so I had already met Montana and Simon so it was nice to go back and read their story at last. Simon is so different from in the more recent books that it was amazing to see how uptight he used to be. Talk about love changing a man. His story broke my heart and at times I was near tears watching him with his burn patient.

Finally, the town is becoming real, the characters have issues, and seek more realistic ways to deal with them. I'm glad I endured to get here! I'm not sure about all the wonders of rescue dogs, and their ever-present place in current romances, but I'll let it be. I know animals can work wonders, but I also know highly asthmatic children can not even walk down the pet aisle in a grocery store, without causing difficulty with their breathing, so I remain torn. So bringing a dog into a hospital sc ...more

Montana Hendrix is the youngest of triplet sisters and the youngest of 6 children. She and her family live in a quaint if somewhat quirky little town called Fool's Gold. Montana considers herself the flightiest of her siblings and can't seem to figure out what to do with her life. Until the Mayor asks her assistance in a special project involving the newest resident of Fool's Gold, Dr. Simon Bradley.

I liked this story. Both Montana and Simon were interesting people and one thing that they had in common is that they really hadn't seen their own worth. Sure Simon realized as a surgeon he had worked hard and was extremely skilled at what he did. He poured all his skill and caring into his patients. But personally? What personal life? He just did his work and moved on. There was always someone who needed his talent but he never really connected anywhere. He saw himself as a monster because of h ...more

This is the 5th book in Ms. Mallery's Fools Gold series. These are contemporary romance novels set in the fictional town of Fools Gold near San Francisco California. The first 3 books were almost a mini cycle within the overall series. This book is the 2nd of another mini cycle, this time about a set of triplet sisters.

I am not usually a fan of contemporary romance but this series is different. The characters are much richer and more real. You find yourself really caring about them and what happ

Susan Mallery continues to write stories that are compelling, fun, humorous, and full of love, heart and soul. The characters are engaging and compassionate, the dialogue is believable, and the love is endearing. In my humble opinion, Ms. Mallery has not only hit another home run with Only Yours, but she’s also done an excellent job of showing how quickly one’s life can be turned upside down by a single incident. This was the best book yet in the Fool's Gold series. I LOVED this one. First of all, I am intrigued by the triplets and it is fun to see their stories unfold. (The first triplet, Dakota, had her HEA in book 4) Again, the author managed to come up with a male lead that comes to town and I am immediately on his side for his HEA too! I adore Simon, with all his flaws, and rooted for him to stay in Fool's Gold from the start. They are a wonderful match, Montana suits Simon so well. The only downsid ...more
