I'm gonna round up from a 4.5 for this one! I think this may be one of my favorite angel books ever! I loved the fact that Clarity already had a love interest and that her romance wasn't with her guardian angel. Forbidden love is great and all but well, let's just say been there done that. This book is set in the south and I love that the author wrote the characters with a noticeable southern accent. She has been so mad at God for so long for the death of her parents that she doesn't even know if she believes in Him. While she struggles with her own faith she is thrown into a war between the angels and the demons and she has to decide quickly what her role in the war will be. (All of this happens without being preachy in any way.)

The characters in Mark of the Seer are great. They are gritty and definitely not perfect. They make lots of mistakes and act like real people, not perfect imaginary book characters. Clarity is loyal, witty, and a bit wild. Not quite as wild as her best friend Kora whom I loved. Kora has not had the easiest childhood and has had to take care of not only herself but also her alcoholic mother. The story doesn't go into Kora's past overly, the author gives you just enough information to understand why she is the way she is.

Boyfriend, Brenton is not only dreamy but also one of the sweetest book boyfriends ever. I love that the two of them have been friends forever before becoming "involved" and that they know each other so well. I also liked that there is no stress between them in the romance department. They love each other and they know it.

Sam the angel is also another wonderful character. He is supportive of Clarity even when she tries to deny his existence. He is loving in the way that you would expect a guardian angel to be. There is no romantic tension he is strictly doing his job as guardian angel.

The plot line is engaging and dramatic in all the right places. A story that holds your attention and keeps you turning the pages even when you know your favorite shows are on the dvr. A definite recommend for anyone who enjoys reading about angels versus demons. The fact that the Demons coerce humans to do the their bidding seemed more natural than Demons just running amuck and causing problems. As you can tell there wasn't much I didn't like about this book! Over all a fantastic read!

Just so you know: There is some "language", and mentions of teen drinking and "hooking up" (less)

This book was such a amazing read! The last 20% of it is what secured it with a 5 star rating from me! Mark of the Seer had great characters and an amazing plot! I really enjoyed the plot! There was action in it and it went at the right pace to keep me interested! I didn't agree with the amount of alcohol and the mention of smoking pot in this book though! One of the first things that attracted me to Clarity was the cover, I thought it was very intriguing and when I found out that the book was about a Seer I was even more intrigued. I really enjoyed Clarity. It was well written and featured a storyline that I have not come across before. One of the things I really loved about this novel was the relationship that developed between Sam and Clarity, that of guardian angel and human.

Sometimes when you finish reading a novel, that's it. You don't think about it anymore but not with Clarity. After I had turned the final page, I had so many questions. Do I believe in guardian angels? Does everyone have one? There were times when I was reading Clarity, where I had to stop, go back and read the paragraph again, just because I could relate to what Clarity was thinking so well.

Not only did I enjoy the storyline, I also enjoyed how the novel got me thinking. To be able to get a reader thinking means that an author has done their job well and Jenna Kay has done just that. For anyone who enjoys reading about the supernatural or has ever questioned who they are or where their place is in the world, I think you will enjoy this book.

Mark of the Seer is a unique tale of good vs. evil, or should I say God vs. Satan, as that is the overall premise of the book. And though I did like the book overall, I personally feel that it was a little flat. Yes the characters were believable and faced the temptations of most teenagers; alcohol, drugs, sex, unplanned pregnancy, etc, but I kept waiting for the excitement only to experience it at the end of the book.

What a fantastic read Mark of the Seer was!!

Clarity is just a normal teenager..... Or so she thought!! That was before the dreams and Sam, her Guardian Angel enter her life.

10*s. I barrowed my copy of this book from Amazon's Prime list. This is an amazing story that had me hooked crom beginning to end and I loved everything about it! Clarity is such a strong willed, bull headed character and I loved her. This story is fast paced and well written, and I finished it in a day!! Jenna Kay didn't disappoint with this book. Throughout the majority of the book I sat on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what would happen next.

Clarity is a wonderful book. The storyline of the main character is interesting. Seeing her go from her carefree life to questioning what she believes and how she wants her life to go.

Excellent writing from the author - creativity in creating scenes, descriptions of characters and Clarity's internal questioning - makes this book even easier to read and really paints a picture in your mind.

Mark of the Seer by Jenna Kay puts you right back to those Saturday mornings where you wake up, rub your bleary eyes, swallow the git in your mouth from an all night drinking binge, and rub your head in self pity for the miscreants of youth.
Clarity Miller, just your average teenage girl is the protagonist of this novel. She is likable and easy to relate to as struggles with aspects of her past, namely the loss of her parents, as well as her indiscretions with her predictably wild best friend Kora, her sweet as honey boyfriend, Brenton, and her seemingly absent yet caring Aunt as the caregiver. Sum in total, the story begins with parties, boys, failed relationships, and the mundane task of school attendance. Nothing in these first few chapters is remarkable or particularly entertaining, but what you can see is good character development and clever lead up to later aspects of the plot where this information is deemed essential.
Introducing Sam, the new kid in town with an unbelievable story and heavenly intentions. Invisible to everyone else, poor Clarity begins to question her sanity, only later to discover, she's not crazy - Sam is her guardian angel, this revelation making her feel no more secure in her mission to grapple incessantly with reality.
This is when the story really begins to unfold. Without giving too much away, Clarity is soon marked as a 'seer' - the gift of vision and the ability to interpret dreams and change fate. While Sam is intent on awakening Clarity's spirit and Good Samaritan nature, Clarity just wants to hide from her potential and squander her youth as most of us do - locking lips with boys and swigging a bottle of bourbon on weekends.
What will Clarity choose? And how do the characters intermingle with her fate and the intent of others perhaps more damaged by the past than outward appearance initially perceive?
You'll just have to read Mark of the Seer to find out.
The relationship between the characters are not complex, and dialogue is easy and in keeping with the pace of unfolding events. I gathered the characters were from the South, but I still often found it a little jarring to have the word 'ya' thrown into the dialogue instead of 'you'. I also found the relationship between Sam and Clarity a little confusing at first, their seemingly instant connection difficult to swallow. And, given that we were led to believe the affection was innocent, there was a lot of descriptive element that led the reader to sometimes consider otherwise.
Narration on the whole was quite purposeful, and the last few chapters were intense, but not quite fast-paced or gritty enough to really get my heart rate entering warp speed. Imagery was good and the concept itself had a very 'nice' and comforting feel about it.
I rate this book three out of five stars. It was an enjoyable read.

Loved this angel story, not like the ones I have read lately. It definitely has a focus on life as a teenager in a backwoods small town, lots of partying, drinking, and other shenanigans teens get into. It gave for a more authentic, realistic story. You get into Clarity’s head and she is very likeable. I found that her feelings were well written when it came to decisions in her life.

My angel obsession gets the best of me every time. With Jenna Kay's Mark of the Seer, there is no exception. I love when an author manages to put a different twist on my favorite sub-genre of novels, and Kay does just that! Mark of the Seer is 270 pages of intrigue. It is filled with demons, angels, and Biblical Seers, humans who receive visions from God. Another fact that I like about this novel is that while religion is included it the novel, it doesn't mold into the realm of YA religious novels, because that is not what it is. It is a book in which the paranormal aspects revolve around religious concepts, such as Heaven, Hell, and angels. The angels in this novel are mainly guardian angels and their presence throughout the novel excited me. I only wished to see more of them, though it seems that will happen in an upcoming novel.

As for the characters, Clarity Miller is a great protagonist. She is portrayed as a normal, temperamental teenaged girl, who can be somewhat annoying at times, but not in a way that is superbly aversive. She is a character who has seen hardships and who you root for, even when you feel she is making a bad decision. Another thing that I liked about the novel was that it isn't a paranormal romance. There are definitely paranormal aspects to this novel, and there are definitely romantic aspects but they don't control the plot of the story. The author found a way to create an enjoyable novel without having to use the ever present teen girl falls for an angel (which don't get me wrong, I love... a lot), and without including a love triangle. Brenton, Clarity's boyfriend is sweet and lovable, her best friends are crazy but in a good way, and Nick is adorable.

At points, the dialect used in the novel became a bit bothersome for me, such as the use of "ya" instead of "you", but I must admit that the use of wording appeared for the appropriate characters and setting. All in all, Mark of the Seer was an really good book, and I look forward to the rest of the series. I recommend this to anyone who likes YA paranormal fiction, or anyone who is hoping to give the genre a try.

It was definitely a good read!
I did read many angel books but this one was captured my interest for sure.
Clarity - carefree,stubborn,full of life girl encounters something that makes her life shattered..makes her rethink what she has seen around in her life again...
Now she begin's questioning herself whether heaven n hell,evil and good,angels and demons ...she has never thought are real?

Clarity was such an awesome story about the battle between the natural and supernatural realm. The ultimate battle between good and evil. I think Jenna Kay did a wonderful job describing this battle and how this would affect a normal every day teenager. Clarity is a character that I believe every teenager can identify with in there every day struggles.

Absolutely amazing. Clarity is a truly enticing story with an action-laced plot and relatable characters that keep the reader interested. More importantly it serves its intial purpose -- it provokes the reader to entertain the supernatural. Clarity serves as a great springboard for the rest of the Seer Society series. Overall wonderful!

This is a really fun YA read! I enjoyed taking the journey with Clarity while she straddled the line between her "normal" life and her life as a seer. I can't wait to read the next installment! I recommend this for anyone who loves the paranormal and it's a great read for teenagers! Enjoy! I did!
