Beneath Dark Stars is the sequel to The Back Stairs by KC Kendricks. Set six weeks after the original book, once again we enter the world of Fallon Roxbury and his shapeshifting lover, Sundown. In this installment we learn more about the Chal, the clan Sundown belongs to, and follow along while Fallon hunts down a serial killer.

As with the first book, KC Kendricks has created a unique being in Sundown as he is not your typical shapeshifter. Sundown’s back-story and origins are fascinating as is

I am soooo enjoying these books! We first met Fallon and Sundown in The Back Stairs Sundown 1 but in this book we start to get to know more. . . and frankly, I really like knowing more! The whole background and world building surrounding the Chal - I've said before I have issues with the melding of SF elements to supernatural/paranormal but in here it seems perfectly acceptable - I don't know why I just appreciate the goodness!

I really don't want to spoiler but the alienness is a
@7.6% nap time already. confused about what the chal are?
finished.... a glowworm lol pronounce the aliens name phonetically..... guess it's one reason I don't like reading books such as this...never know what the name is.
still managed a nap while reading. just not my bag apparently. got no real feel for the cop other than he's old, possible alkie, things develop fast which in itself is not a problem but when more details are needed fast paced can kill my interest in the story. I was

Sundown and Fallon are learning what it takes to be a couple, and it’s very sweet and loving. Sundown is more and more willing to show the “other” side of his nature.

There is a once a year “reproduction ritual” taking place and Sundown is nervous about performing his non-sexual, reproduction duties, because they are so important to the race and to his own development. Fallon is jealous, though he knows it doesn’t threaten their relationship. Despite all this, Sundown goes, and Fallon works the

Just finished my first re-read as I'm working my way back through these to refresh my memory before the new #4.

I still agree with what I said last time: I appreciated the little glimpses I got, but wanted so much more. I wasn't quite as disappointed this time; I do appreciate the sweetness of Fallon and Sundown learning to trust each other, the action was intriguing, and the little glimpses were satisfying enough that I'm raising my rating from 3 stars to 4.

Detective Fallon Roxbury and his mysterious lover Sundown are back in this sequel to 'The Back Stairs' and glad to say no disappointment at all. In this book we learn more about Sundown and his clan the Chal and what an interesting set of 'beings' they are.'KC Kendrick has built a world that has lots of possibilities to expand on with her mix of alien/shifter creations but at the same time manages to work in a good down to earth crime story , more dry humour from Fallon and his snarky partner Ju ...more

The second part of »Sundown and Fallon” story is as pulling as was the previous book. In the main plot Fallon and his cop partner Juny pick out an old cold case, which soon develops into current one by finding a new victim. The main police case file was enjoyable, but nothing special. Fallon found the serial killer with help of Sundown's clan. More or less the main storyline concentrates around Fallon and Sundown’s emotions toward each other. I liked it a lot.
