My Review:

This is a story about animals in the desert where the author used nursery rhyme songs to tell about the desert habitat and its flora and fauna. For example, Deep in the Desert may be sung to “Down in the Valley” or The Camel with Two Humps may be sung to “The Itsy, Bitsy Spider”. Travel the desert and learn about nose bats, desert tortoise, fennec fox, meerkat, thorny devil and many more.

This book is about desert animals written in playful poems set to nursery songs. Very well done for learning about animals, and the art is nice. I love all the information that Sylvan Dell Publishing get into their books and the added activities on their website helps encourage further learning. These books are a great way to get small children interested in the world we live in.

My kids LOVE books to sing--and we used this one learning about deserts. They asked for it over and over. While we learned a few things, it was mostly the familiar tunes and nice pictures they liked best.
