good broad overview making the salient points, sketching a timeline and drawing tentative causal links to social, economic, political and cultural motions. necessarily glosses over A LOT and maybe overstates the representativeness of some samples, but really ended up satisfying the urge i had to chart a rough chronology of modern fashion design
