One to Keep is the third book in the Nights in Bliss, Colorado series and we finally get Stef and Jen's story. I loved revisiting the characters from the previous books, and still found myself laughing at Mel and his alien phobia, but as much as I had looked forward to this one, it just didn't grab me the way the first two did.
In One to Keep I had expected a truly captivating, intense story - hey, this *is* Stef we're talking about here, but there was something different about him and I just di...more
We got back to the wacky town of Bliss Colorado in One to Keep. Sophie...ummm where's the extra penis? ;p
This book is the story of an I'm-not-sharing relationship between our town puppet master Stefan and quirky artist/waitress Jennifer. Stefan has always been the aloof, but secretly meddlesome man behind the wonderful relationships in Bliss. He has pushed couples together when they needed it, but from behind the scenes. Doesn't mean he hadn't been caught from time to time and gotten his ass kic...more

Even though Jennifer Waters fled after Stefan Talbot finally succumbed to his desire to be with her after one night, Stefan has not been able to move on. When Jennifer ends up in jail falsely accused of theft, Stefan is by her side protecting her whether she likes it or not.
Jennifer has not forgotten their one night together, nor the fact that Stefan broke her heart in one swift move either. Returning to Bliss, Jennifer realizes that she never should have left her heart and soul belongs in Blis...more

This was the third book in the series of Bliss, Colorado where I would like to live btw.
I have been looking forward to Stefan's story and although I liked it, it wasn't quite as good as the others and Stefan seemed different in this book. At times I wanted to slap him because he was so stubborn.
It was great to see the characters from previous books and I fell in love with Alexi the gorgeous Russian and hope he will get a story maybe a menage? with Holly and Dr. Caleb. Here's hoping.

I added this as romantic suspense because there was a bit of murder/mystery/mayhem with the Russian mob mixed in. I love this town Bliss. I wish like many friends here at GR that this town existed. I also now know Ms. Oak's real names is Nell. She's the crazy pacifist writing dirty erotic stories about her friends. Ms. Oak, I'm on to you, you dirty little voyeur.
I loved Stef's story because I was waiting for him to fall. King Stef was definitely an appropriate name for him. Loved it. I find him...more

Jennifer Waters left the only town that ever felt like home to escape the one man who would forever be the master of her heart. What else was she to do when Stefan Talbot tramples on her declaration of love? Stefan is always in control of everything...or so he believes. All it takes is one not so obedient sub being in the right place at the wrong time to bring his otherwise well-ordered life to its proverbial knees.

My favorite of the series!! Jen and Stefan, so perfect together, or they will be once Stefan figures out what everyone else already seems to know. I loved the story in this one and again was captivated by the townsfolk and their quirky, unconventional ways. The characters from the previous books were front and center along with Jen and Stefan. There was a nice little reunion that led to a secondary romance, years in the making. Just a heartwarming story filled with great dialogue, love, laughter...more
Third novel in a series that is set in a very unusual and sometimes uproarously funny community in Colorado--a place where social misfits find acceptance and home. This story features two people who have been circling around each other for two years, who have their own abandonment issues and who can't seem to feel acceptance from one another. More than the first two, this novel seems to be a journey of discovery about the core of what makes these two people tick--of their new awareness that thei...more
(King) Stef finally gets his girl, Jen, in One to Keep. This was a fairly typical Sophie Oak Colarado Series book, except it was slightly darker and, while still humorous, it wasn't as laugh out loud funny as the previous two. No complaints, it is still an excellent read.
I liked Stef from the previous books he's a tad arrogant but he's kind and generous to all and sundry, nice qualities. He likes his BDSM kink, he's a Dom and he wants but doesn't want Jennifer (it's a farily standard tug of war...more

Loved this one just as much as the others. I just loved the town of Bliss. I really liked Stefan and Jen. She was so good for him. As usual, it took a bit for him to figure it all out, but it was fun watching. The plot with the Russian mob was interesting. Their English slang was a hoot! I'm so glad I read the 3 books back to back. All of the characters are involved in all of the stories and it was nice to be able to keep them all straight - no small miracle for me!
This book also had some LOL moments and some scorching hot love scenes. I like the suspense that this book revolved around but H&h just did not do it for me as the two earlier book's H&h's had. None the less I enjoyed it and hope that Sophie will write more book's in this series, in this town because she certainly has enough characters in the town of Bliss to write about.
This is a review of the series rather than the individual books. Other readers have done an excellent job of reviewing individual books. I'll just add a sentence or two about each book at the end of my review.
I was pleasantly surprised when I started this series. In fact, I enjoyed the Nights in Bliss series so much that I read the first six books back-to-back; something I rarely do because I typically become bored with a series if I do this. Oak did a great job of building the quirky, entertain...more

I gave this a higher rating than originally intended because of the action part. The small sleepy town of Bliss is finally getting the opportunity to show its inhabitants' lethal side. I'm intrigued by the new character in town, Dr Caleb Burke and his history, I'm hoping he has his own story.
I didn't like Jen and Stef's love story because it's filled with a lot of misunderstandings. I wasn't able to connect with the characters, maybe because I'm not an artist. Stef was too stubborn and selfish t...more

Well, I guess I'll start out with what I liked.
I liked Stefan and Jen. They were both well-developed, interesting characters with their own issues to work through. I also liked that, while sex was part of their relationship, it was just one of many parts. The elements that actually lead to their HEA are more in the nature of trust, affection, the ability to learn from their mistakes and the willingness to forgive themselves and others.
What I didn't like.
The whole BDSM part needed some tweaking....more

Oh I hope this isn't the last one!
Looks like a good set-up for a Holly/Caleb/Alexei? book. Surely there was enough drama here to set up at least 1 or more upcoming books:
** Logan's mental state - Logan needs a girlfriend
** The Holly/Alexei/Caleb situation/ What happens to Alexei?
** Are there really aliens or is Mel the alien?
** Will Mel get a girlriend?
** Will the upcoming kiddos be boys or girls?
** Sebastian and Stella
** Will the erotic romance authors be outed?
** Will any of the FBI guys stay...more

Book 3 in the Colorado Bliss series is great I really liked the relationship that were blooming through book like Caleb Alexei and Holly. A lot of reviews found Stef different in is character but I didn't find that so much more he was a self sacrificing in his thinking. He felt he wouldn't b enough for Jen so he pushed her away. After awhile it got annoying. Ending was great but my heart broke for Logan. Awesome HEA. If Stef wasn't so annoying at times in book would have got 5stars.
I felt that the romance happened all in the 6 months before they left and the book started. This book was more centered on secondary characters and the mystery. So the love story took a second place to the crime solving. Still, the sex was hot and visiting the past characters were a hoot.
I also enjoyed the introduction to the new character. But would have loved the spend more time with Jenifer and Stef together....maybe in the next books?

I have been looking forward to reading Stefan and Jennifers story since I started reading the Nights in Bliss, Colorado series. Stefan is another one of those men that your heart goes out to because of his difficult past. He is a caring and fiercely loyal friend but he is insecure and very lonely. While he won't admit it to himself those around him know what the problem is and they know that Jennifer is the solution to that problem. It was also nice to Stefan get a little dose of his own medici...more
I enjoyed this one, but really it was the story I enjoyed because I laughed a lot. And not at unexpected times -- I'm not saying the sex was funny, lol... but parts of the story were laugh-out-loud for me. For some reason that I can't put my finger on, the sex was just OK for me. I don't know if it's because usually Sophie Oak writes menage and maybe I missed that extra person? Or maybe there only some D/s stuff that I like? I dunno. But the story of Stef and Jen was really good. I wanted to sma...more
Oh I wanted to punch Stefan sometimes, but ok I get over it. In the end he did right with Jennifer. I would prefer more scenes in his dungeon and for a Dom he had little control over himself. Overall I did like it because I was waiting for his story...
Another great story in the Nights in Bliss series. The community and the characters are still well written and with respect for the character of Stefan Talbot it's not another manage story. Instead it lets Stefan's controlling nature come through and his need to be in charge, it's only natural that it's a BDSM story.
Sophie Oak manages well to describe Stefan's journey where he truly discovers who Jennifer is. Her strength is unsettling to him and their conflicting personalities makes for an inte...more

I just love the residents of Bliss, Colorado. I didn't think I would like them more than the Texas Sirens bunch, but its a straight up tie!
I know most readers won't give this kind of series a try because of the sexual content. But they are so much more than that. There is a true, feel good romance in each story. I laughed with them, cried with them, and cheered for them. Sophie Oak writes characters that can truly charm you. They have flaws and baggage to overcome on their way to realizing that...more

I absolutely loved this book. I loved watching Stef come to realize that he did love Jen and couldn't let her go. Although he did go through a bit of angst and I wanted to pop him a good one to make him pay attention. I loved the mystery of the whole painting and the Russians trying to get it back. It was surprising what the conclusion to that was. I stayed up until after 3AM this morning to finish this book. I could not put it down. I tried. I was so tired but I just had to see how it ended. I really liked this story. Stef and Jen make a great couple. The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 was because of the stress that Stef put my poor heart through as he was being a dense idiot! OMG...there were times in this book I just wanted to reach in and shake Stef until he got a brain. Fortunately Stef did come around and stopped making Jen miserable by pushing her away and overall the story was great. I loved the ending and it 's a great addition to the series. A big thumbs up! :...more

A lifetime devotee to the written word, Sophie published her first novel this year. Prior to becoming a novelist, she worked in theater and comic books. She lives in Fort Worth, Texas with her husband and three precocious children, who wonder when mom is going to write a book they will be allowed to read. Her answer: probably never. Sophie believes in happy endings for everyone, no matter how extr...more
