Control Under Fire is a military book. It is realistic fiction. It is part of a series. The main character Lester Donovan he is a very young and courageous U.S. soldier that has to fight against the TALIBAN army and fight in Afghanistan his lifestyle sounds pretty cool he also formed a very strong bond with another soldier and enjoyed being in the force. If you like action filled books with courageous characters, this is the book for you.

1/16/13 I started reading this book on monday and I am almost finished with it now. it is about two seals that went down in a helicopter and the talaban kidnapped two of their soilders. they were then on their own and had to go find them. once they figured out where they were it was in a huge underground village with alot of tunnels. they had to kill all the talaban to get them out and they almost got killed while doing it. overall it was a really good book and I think it was easy to follow ...more

Shelves: teen-reads
Read this to see who to recommend it to at the library. Younger teens who can handle blood and violence, older teens who like graphic novels. I appreciate the theme "leave no man behind" but don't like linse such as "Taliban terrorists dropped like marionettes with clipped strings and hit the deck in clumps of flesh."

To all those who have served in the military, thank you for defending my freedom. God bless.

Another quick book (took one hour to read) that will be attractive to boys. I did not find it to be great literature, but I think it will get lost of check outs. Factual information about the war in Afghanistan interspersed throughout, as well as a number of comic-like illustrations, add to its appeal. Appropriate for elementary (not too graphic).

This book is full of action. If you like the army and war then read this book and the rest of the series. In this book and the other ones you will find information about the guns, equipment, and vehicles used in the time period it was used. Also it is about one family history in war.
