I just finished reading the third edition of “The New Rules of Marketing & PR” by David Meerman Scott. It is a large book, and one that seems to be aimed at larger businesses than small businesses or solo firms, but I do feel anyone interested in marketing and PR can benefit from this book as a reference guide to various aspects of marketing and PR.

Social media is changing all the time, and I noticed that a fourth edition of this book just came out after I picked this one up to read. I'm not

Recommends it for: PR Professionals and small business owners
Scott's book is definitely a very thorough introduction to new media marketing and PR, especially for "old school" marketers and PR professionals trying to adapt to the changing landscape of their field. However, as someone who has only ever worked in online marketing I found the book a bit obvious or basic, not adding anything to what I already know of the subject.

Scott raises a good point when he says that the difference between the "old rules" and the "new rules" of marketing is that markete

I had to read this book for my Social Media course in college, but I actually found myself enjoying it more than I thought I would. Case in point: I normally sell back my books after the semester, and this one is now tucked away safe with my other books. All those interested in social media, as a career or otherwise, should read this book.

I was lucky to spend a few minutes chatting with David at a recent conference. We're both big music geeks. He's seen just about everyone (jealous!) and has some incredible stories. He's also a powerful speaker and marketing visionary. I had to bump this to the top of my to-read list.

One of the worst

One of the worst books I have ever read , very poorly organized , sometimes the chapter head has nothing to do with the content.

It's like a story telling , no real content , just some unorganized stories
