I bought this book after doing an exhaustive search for a truly complete medicinal herb guide. I found out that the latter really doesn't exist. I settled on this guide and have been modestly happy with it. The author includes many herbs from the Chinese and Ayurvedic pharmacopeia and fewer from Western and Native American traditions. This is a useful reference book that covers a wider than usual spectrum of popular medicinal herbs. There are some Ayurvedic as well as Chinese and "Western" herbs discussed and the organization of the book makes it easy to follow. Even if you do not plan to study Chinese herbalism or Ayurvedic, you might find this a good investment because it offers explanations, warnings and uses from 2 people who actually work full time in a clinic using herbs.
