This very appealing picture book/rhyming story is a great little tale to read aloud to your youngster or for your independent reader to read alone. The drawing of the kitty's face is simply endearing, and the tale is a tender tale about the true meaning of sharing with others, not only on Christmas, but always.

I have enjoyed all the Bad Kitty books, but I think this one is my favorite. Maybe because Bad Kitty for the first time, thinks of someone besides herself (a temporary fluke I'm sure). Once again, the way Bruel uses the alphabet three times in one book is amazing, but it does slow the book down a bit. I read this to several groups of kindergartners and I think it was a bit overlong. But first and second graders should enjoy it nicely. Bad Kitty Christmas is a play on 'The Night Before Christmas' but for cat lovers. Telling the tale of Bad Kitty and the mischief she gets up to on Christmas Eve, this story will have cat lovers nodding sagely as they encounter familiar antics.

My students love Bad Kitty, and they're sure to love this title, too. It's part riff on the Clement Moore classic, part alphabet countdown (a Bed Kitty trademark), and a little bit of a mystery. When Bad Kitty's humans require that she help clean up the mess she made, she becomes angry. On the way to Uncle Murray's in the car, she makes the great escape through an open window. My youngest daughter adores all of the Bad Kitty chapter books and when I saw that this picture book was out just in time for Christmas, I just had to add it to her stocking.

This is another humorous (and surprisingly touching) story in the Bad Kitty series by Nick Bruel. Part alphabet book, part homage to Clement C. Moore's Clement Clarke Moore. The rhyming narrative is fun, but challenging, especially for young readers. And the story is long, too, so I recommend it for older children. The illustrations are just as wacky as ever and we enjoyed reading this story together.
Bad Kitty is always fun to read. He is mischievous and fun! For Bad Kitty Christmas is about making a mess, creating chaos. To him Christmas is about himself. Then one day he meets a lovely Old Lady who helps him learn the real meaning of Christmas.

I really liked this book! My favorite part of it was the stressing of what the true meaning of Christmas really is. "Little cat, this what Christmas should be. It's not about stuff from a big spending spree. It's not about presents all over the place. It's not about food or stuffing your face. Like Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and Eid, you see, Christmas is all about...FAMILY."

Love how the story starts immediately...even before the title page drawing in the reader. I was hooked and intrigued right away. A great new Christmas book for story time around the holidays. The book offers a fresh version of the classic poem "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" and also highlights the letters of the alphabet. A great and fun learning tool for kids!

A wonderful book for Christmas. Large colorful illustrations are accompanied by text that follows the rhyme of the poem, Twas The Night Before Christmas. Bad Kitty is up to her usual hijinks, tearing apart the house and the Christmas decorations. When she escapes from the car while on a Christmas Eve drive, she sets off on an adventure where she finds the real meaning of Christmas. A great book for young readers. I haven't read a Bad Kitty book in a couple of years. The same humor is there, and with the fun of the ABCs--in this book demonstrated 3 times. And I love that Bruel kept the flow of "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" in not just one but two stories within the book. Nice to see Kitty actually learn a lesson. A sweet, happy ending. Even some insertions of "political correctness." Might be a bit long (and even over the heads) for a preschool storytime, but a school-age could work.

I'm rarely a fan of the Bad Kitty books although I find Bad Kitty adorable. It's just that it's an ABC book that's populated with words and text that an ABC learner wouldn't know. There's also often so much happening, at least in the case of this book, that it feels forced rather than easy going. Still, this one had a bit of fun and a heartwarming message. Not one of my faves by far, but cat fans more into pictures/illustration than plot may get a kick out of it.
Bad Kitty has been a bad kitty and destroyed everything Christmas at his house. He ends up running away and finding a lonely old lady to keep company. He eventually ends up home again with the old lady joining the family.
I love this story. It was entertaining and funny and sweet and sad. I really enjoyed the alphabetical alliteration of the first part of the story and the old lady's family tree. This is definitely a Christmas keeper.

It's weird to fault a Christmas book for being too sentimental, but A Bad Kitty Christmas started out as a highly amusing, alliterative depiction of how cats can destroy Christmas decorations and then turned into something else. And while the something else had all the heart-warming stuff that Christmas stories are made of, it wasn't nearly as truthful as the part where Bad Kitty was being a bad kitty. 5 Star start, 3 star ending.

3rd/4th Read-Aloud: This is a LONG book for a read-aloud, but the kids enjoyed it. We inferred, discussed point of view (it has three shifts so it makes for a great lesson on p.o.v.), and discussed the ABC patterns and alliteration. We also made comparisons to Twas the Night Before Christmas, which this book models.
Bad Kitty is back as a picture book, and neither the joy of the season nor the colorful illustrations make for a happy kitty! Not just a story in verse, told in two voices with two points of view, Bad Kitty's "owner" and the old lady, but also a wordless comic strip for our loyal puppy. Thoroughly enjoyable!

I thought it was going to be a night before Christmas, then an ABC book, but it turned into a mishmash of both, and a bit more. Not bad for Bad Kitty! BUT, I don't think this is a good read a loud to a classroom or a child on your lap for that matter.
As big a cat fan as I am, I can't believe this was my first Bad Kitty book! Loved the repeated A-Z lists --Very clever. And a touching story too. Now I have to go find Kitty's other adventures.... And find some youngsters to recommend the books to!
While I enjoy the word play and humor of the Bad Kitty books, I don't consider them to be that deep. This installment is overly messagy and I think the tone changes half way through into something more serious that fans of Bad Kitty expect.
We opened this book as a Christmas present, my husband and I, and we read it on the spot. Bad Kitty, if you know the series, is up to his pranks again, but gets his comeuppance. It has a touching ending, making it a true christmas story.
Surprisingly sweet. The expected "Bad Kitty breaks a bunch of Christmas stuff" as advertised, but it's also a story about being with family for Christmas, and good memories, and how strangers can become family too.
