This book is shit. You fucking call this "The Ultimate Guide?", motherfucker please. It's basically a written masturbatory piece over Rose/Dimitri with shit that we already know about other fucking characters and tries to justify the cheating in the books by making them look all preshious~~~ and angelic~~~ Did I also mention how amazing Dimitri and Rose are?? And how awesome they are, soaking in eachother's awesomeness? OMFGz!!!111

It's so shit, it made my chemistry textbook look like porn.

I was disappointed to say the least and I LOVE vampire academy. The book should be titled the ultimate vampire academy summary. I think the book would be ideal for people who have read the first book of the series and are unsure about continuing the series. But beware of spoilers because this book is a very precise recount of the vampire academy series like you get the entire vampire academy 6 book series compiled into 200 over pages which may not seem a lot but then you realize that the ultimat...more

The six book recaps take up about two-thirds of the guide and are 30 pages long each, with Richelle Mead preceding each one with an explanatio...more

If you are a fan of the Vampire Academy series, you probably think you know everything there is to know about them. Even if you think you do, you still need to give the Ultimate Guide a chance because it will definitely surprise you with things you didn't know.

I loved how it was broken down by each book in the series. We get a small section from author Richelle Mead before each summary and she shares her thoughts on the writing process of each story. We get to hear about her struggles, feelings,...more

For an 'ultimate' guide, I have to say that it was disappointing.

The majority of the guide and I do mean about 75% was taken up by pointless re-cap of the six books of the series. Aside from brief introductions to each book written by Richelle Mead, I fail to see the point of these. I've read all the books in the VA series and I remember them quite well. If I didn't, they are on my shelves where I could go and read them again, if I wanted to. What's the point of re-hashing the story? The only an...more

Calling all FANS of Vampire Academy. Do you think you know everything about Vampire Academy? About Rose, Lissa, Dimitri? We'll look no further than this guide. It will give you insider information that you didn't know and NEED to know!

I love Vampire Academy. The series itself is amazing written and the way the plot unfolds with each book only brings the reader closer the school then they can ever imagine. I am a big and avid fan of Vampire Academy and even though the series has ended, this is a...more

To be honest, I expected a whole lot more of this book! I mean, Vampire Academy has to be my favorite series ever, so the guide HAS to be awesome, right?
Wrong, this book was so disappointing. On the summary, it mentioned exclusive secrets and a lot of juicy stuff which it failed to deliver.
Throughout the beginning and middle, she just wrote a summary of all the books adding to about 200 pages! No juicy stuff, just a brief summary. Of course, if we're reading the guide, we already know all of th...more

Ultimate Bummer ....

The ''Vampire Academy Ultimate Guide'' was far off from what the description says.
It certainly isn't an adults book, unless ofcourse you are a collector and simply must have it next to your VA series.
In the first half of the book, there is an explanotary narration which pretty much sums up the entire series in 221 pages or so.
The other half is filled with information that anyone who has read the VA series already knows, along with some pop quiz over your so far know how to a...more

This book was rather boring. It basically recapped most of the Vampire Academy series, which wasn't what I wanted. On the back, it said reads could
- Find out the real history of St. Vladimir's Academy
- Explore the dark psychology behind Rose and Lissa's unusual friendship
- Discover even more illicit secrets about Rose and Dimitri

221 pages were taken up about the 6 Vampire Academy books. The rest of the book explores the characters, relationships between certain major characters, and talks about...more

Okay, I've had it on my TBR pile for over a month but finally read it, Vampire Academy: The Ultimate Guide by Michelle Rowen with Richelle Mead, and it was great! I've only read one other "world info" type book and found it to be fun and so was this one!

To my knowledge, Michelle Rowen is doing most of the writing this time, but of course she has input from Richelle and there are a few QAs in the book with Richelle. It was all very fun and fascinating. I've read all the books in the series, yet i...more

This is a guide to the world of Vampire Academy... taken directly from the book. 75% of it was a recap of what had happened and the only new thing in it was an interview with Richelle Mead about each book and her feeling on writing it.

On the back it promises to tell you the real history of St. Vladimir's Academy, explore the dark psychology behind Rose and Lissa's unusual friendship and to discover illicit secrets about Rose and Dimitri. It didn't really live up to any of those promises and I f...more

I thought this guide has some awesome features inside it but I was so dissapointed when I read it....well no actually I didn't read it I just scan the pages ,answer the questions and then put it back down because really what else is in there to read? It just repeated the scenes from book 1 to 6......the only consolation for me is the questionnaire and the tattoos!!!.....its pretty awesome especially the golden lily tattoo I want to have something similar like that someday...... sigh (wishful thi...more

I have to admit that I'm greatly disappointed in this book, it was totally the opposite of what I expected. When I heard that a guide featuring one of my favourite YA series ever was about to be published, I was thrilled ! However, the guide didn't meet my expectations and really failed to deliver news about the Vampire Academy world, according to me. The first part of the guide consists in summaries of the six books in the series and there are some quotations scattered around these sum...more

I love the VA series and was looking forward to reading this guide. I was disappointed in that it was more of a summary book for non-fans than a guide for fans.

Although I still found it enjoyable to relive the series in a summarised version I wanted information that I didn't already know from the books.

More than 2/3 of the book was summarising what those who had read the series already knew - plot, characters etc (Although it was very well summarised).

There was little new information, in fact...more

As a Vampire Academy super-fan I had to have this book in my bookshelves... I was pretty curious about it, because there was almost no promotion and also because Aussie book-bloggers did not talk about it for its Australian release. So, I did not know what to expect from this guide, I've really discovered it when I've received it.

I was a little disppointed first because there was no exclusive content, except some Q&A with Richelle Mead (I don't consider Quizz as exclusive content). And even...more

This is the first "guide" book that I have ever read for a book series, so I thought that it was only fitting that my first would be for my favourtie series, and I loved it!

The book re-caps. For a little bit over half of the book there are re-caps of all of the six books which I thought was great as they are all condesed down into about 30 pages each and I found that the re-cap for each of the books was quite in-depth and didn't brush over any of the important parts in the books. Another thing t...more

Sorry I can't give more than 2 stars for this books because I was so disappointed.
Vampire Academy is my favorite YA series ever. I'm just obsessed by this series and I almost think about its character every day. Yes i'm crazy.
So I was excited to read this guide based on the series. It is said at the back of the book : the must-have addition to any vampire academy collection.
And I disagree. If you've read the books you don't need this guide. Most of the book(until page 220 and there are 290 page...more

This book begs the question: why was it published? Oh right, for monetary gain. Duh. Beyond that I have absolutely no clue as to why this was printed. Thankfully this was a library loan or I would be quite irritated.

The book itself is mostly one large summary of the Vampire Academy series. Each book is summarized with quotes thrown in there now and again. As if the summary aspect was not bad enough it was written like a book report, a book report by a valley girl. Like it was like so totally...c...more

If you are a die hard fan of this series this book will be right up your alley. However if, like me, you enjoyed the books, but if you don't obsess about them this one might be a little boring.

The book recaps all the books, the characters, and significant symbols in the mythology. The one thing that I did really enjoy was the Q&A boxes with Mead. She gave fun facts about each book, the major characters, and why she chose to do some of the things she did.
Jessica
If you're already a huge Vampire Academy fan, then this book is not for you. Michele Rowen's writing is pretty good and she makes the subject matter as interesting as she can, but this really should have been written by Richelle Mead. All Rowen is able to do is recap what we already know. She provides a recap of the 6 books in the series, bios on all the major and some minor characters, and some recaps of romantic relationships, but if you've read the series, none of this is new. What I enjoyed...more

To be honest, the guide kinda disappointed me! i read the twilight one before and that was way better! not to say it's a total waste of money, but most of the book is a recap of the series itself, so nothing new, and then some explanation o...f the characters, but it's all stuff that readers already pick up while reading! i love guides because of the stuff we didn't get from the books, and that's what i'm missing! the best parts are the q&a with richelle mead!

Reading the guide made me fall in love all over again with the world of Vampire Academy. Reading about each book and each character brought me back to when I first started reading the books.

I loved how the explanations of the world could easily be understandable for someone who never read the books. Not that I recommend reading this guide before the series since so many spoilers are written in this and even if it the books are well explained in this, it doesn't replace the series it...more

As an Ultimate Guide, this guide fell short. The first 75% is an extremely in depth, chapter by chapter recap of all the books. Now, if you're a fan of the Vampire Academy books, then chances are, you don't need the recap. The last 25% are character profiles and some background about St. Vladimir's and the Moroi Royal Court. Personally, I would have loved to learn more about the world of Vampire Academy.
Rebecca
This is NOT an ultimate guide. It basically repeats each book in the Vampire Academy series, short already-known information about the characters and other things which simply is collected from the books, not Richelle Meads mind.
There are however Questions and Answers with Mead that are new information.

To sum up: this is not worth buying.

Like my fellow readers i too am wondering why on earth this book was released. Im a fan of VA but come on can anyone tell me the point of a book comprised of quotes taken from the book and summarising every chapter of each book?? Pointless, completely and utterly pointless. Go and read the VA books, that will be money well spent!

This is the ultimate Guide for every VA fan. No matter if your a long time fan, or recently discovered the series.. this has everything you could have want, and more.

From summaries from each book where you don't even need to read the books to catch up on what was going on (at least if you have already read them), to character and relationship descriptions and summaries.
There is also a preview of the graphic novel, whi...more

Vampire Academy: The Ultimate Guide by Richelle Mead and Michelle Rowen is exactly as it sounds. It includes a summary of each book, character descriptions, and history of the school, church, and species. I really enjoyed the guide. I was disappointed that it didn't include new scenes or short stories.

The first vampire book I have read was Twilight....got addicted to it but then got over it. BUT THIS!...well let's just say when I saw they Richelle Mead was making an ultimate guide I instantly lusted for this book to be MINE. Twilight was, is and never will be in the same level as Vampire Academy.
