In the closing pages the author references the myth of Siyavush, which is really odd for me just having read Daneshvar's Sivashun.

I really enjoyed Enayat's incredible clarity, scholarship, and precise, well-supported arguments-- until the discussion on Islam and democracy. All of a sudden, Enayat assumed a classical approach to interpretation of religious texts and did not unsettle problematic assumptions and contradictions. This was very close to the end; overall this is an incredibly stimulati
