First book in a long, long time that I'm abandoning. It's just making no sense.

It took me over 8 hours to get to page 42. Seriously, I should have finished it in that time. And believe me, I tried to make progress with this, I just couldn't.

This book is giving off serious warning signs early on, with off-key emotional reactions (heroine being all "frosty" to the hero because he had the nerve to make an offer to buy a company from a guy who'd been thinking of retiring) and "as you know Bob" conversations (hero to his own sister: "He must have talked to my friend Jake's dad who held such a threat over Jake's head.
