After Agent Kendall Frasier's partner is shot in "friendly fire" during a drug bust, she agrees to take a week's vacation on a tropical island as part of her psychiatric evaluation. Sand, sun, sea—what could be better to help her work through her guilt? She gave the flight attendant a quick smile. "Where's Tattoo?"
The attendant, a young woman with a vapid smile, looked perplexed. "Sorry, who?"
Those are the first lines of this book, and I'm not ashamed to say that I know who Tattoo is and had a silly smile on my face when I read them. I even shouted, "The plane! The plane!" :)
I enjoyed this novella from Megan Hart, but I wish it had been a full length novel so we could have gotten more of the relationship development and more details of the assignment that went terribly wrong.
That said, it was still a great story with a healthy serving of heat and a hero and heroine I’d love to know more about. In fact, this would make a great prologue to a full length novel – maybe a year down the road something happens to separate them for a time until they can work thei...more
OK, wow, you can really read this in one sitting! This book is pretty steamy, but it just wasn't long enough.
The first thing I HAVE to mention is, thank God this got re-issued, because by looking at the previous cover I might have not been in such a rush to read it! So two thumbs up on going with the hot guy at the beach.
OK, so Kendall is a DEA agent, her partner recently got killed during friendly fire (he jumped in front of a bullet, by accident, while on an...more
Great story with an even better background & premise that, IMO, would have been better suited in a full length format. Or, maybe I just love character development & watching storylines unfold and novellas just don't offer me that. They are more "wham, bam, thank you ma'am" which is good sometimes, but not all. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Undercover DEA agent Kendall Frasier and some of her colleagues have been sent to a tropical island for some mandatory rest and relaxation after a bust went bad and her partner was killed. She’s dealing with a wide range of emotions that become even more complicated by the presence Zane Vincent, the agent that accidentally killed her partner. To further complicate things they find themselves undeniably attracted to each other.

The story was well-written, kept my interest and flowed nicely with a great setting; I liked the characters and their background. The sex scenes were steamy but brief and light for an erotica, I was left wanting.
I enjoyed the whole premises of Friendly Fire but honestly; it was just too short for me to become really invested in the characters. It was like when you see someone interesting walk...more
Kendall and Zane are both feeling guilty for the same action, Kendall's partner shot by Zane. They each had a reason to be wary of the other, but are forced together on a vacation/medical get your head together trip. It is only as they are forced in each other's proximity and actually talk about what happen that they start to understand what the other feels. A...more
Alot packed into these 64 pages with the sizzle that Megan Hart is known for!
Enjoyed this story alot. Realistic characters and setting and situations.
Read this for a challenge.

DEA agent Kendall Fraiser is sent to a tropical island for mandatory recuperation following the death of her partner during a drug raid. Kendall is filled with a mixture of feelings ranging from anger to undeniable lust when the agent whose stray bullet took her partner’s life is sent to the island as well.
Zane Vincent is well aware that Kendall blames him for her partner’s death—and he can’t deny the fact that it was his bul...more
I thought it interesting that we didn't get much insight into Zane's mind. It was a very one sided story and not all that steamy.

Review: 3 out of 5 stars
After the death of her partner in the line of duty, Kendall Frasier, a DEA agent agrees to a 2 week island vacation to undergo psychological evaluation and therapy; it was also a chance for her to enjoy a bit of R&R.
Not wanting anything to do with Zane Vincent, the agent responsible for the stray bullet, she finds herself on the same island as him to deal with the emotional turmoil they are both feeling.
Despite the tension, there...more

Friendly Fire is a story about forgiveness and love with lots of hot sex thrown into the mix. Kendall’s partner is killed in the line of duty and she blames herself. She had issues with him but didn’t want to see him dead. She agrees to a weeklong “vacation” that is sanctioned by the bureau where she will undergo physical and psychological testing while trying to enjoy the beach.

This book was a super-fast sweet little read. Sent to a tropical island as a recuperative retreat, Zane and Kendall are not exactly on friendly terms. Kendall's partner was just killed in a friendly fire incident during a drug bust. Zane just happened to be the one firing the shot. Everyone agrees that the partner made a wrong move and that is why he died. But both Kendall and Zane are dealing with guilt and blame issues, regardless of what they know in...more

This is only the second book I’ve read by Megan Hart, but I have to say I actually found myself enjoying this book despite a few initial reservations I had.
Kendall Frasier is a DEA agent dealing with the loss of her partner. She is having to work through her issues of guilt and anger and confusion, and was given the choice between going to an island on the department or dealing with her issues at home. Wanting the beach an...more
Police officer Kendall is sent on a therapeutic retreat after her partner is shot, by friendly fire, during a drugs bust. Feeling incredibly guilty for not doing everything to save her partner, she doesn't feel that she should be on such a fabulous retreat. She feels worse with the realisation that she will be spending some quality time with the...more
Okay. I'm back. Now, while I don't normally care for contemporary romances, this one was fun. Kendall was full of guilt over her partner's death- although not necessarily for the normal reasons- and Zane has to deal with the fact that his bullet was the one that ended Kenda...more
Since it is very short there is not much to say about it. Kendall and Zane comes to a wonderful island, not to have a vacation but to get a psych evaluation since they were involved in a shooting and her partner died. She feels sad and responsible, and Zane who pulled the trigger has stuff to deal with too. They really do not like each other, but that island is a paradise and t...more
2.5 stars. This was a short novella, Friendly Fire by Megan Heart. Zane and Kendall are DEA agents that were involved in a office related shooting. I enjoyed how open and honest Zane and Kendall were with each other. They talked about the shooting in order to relieve that guilt and anguish they both felt. Their relationship on the this beautiful island started as something to enjoy while tanning on the beach but in the end it turned into a relati...more

Friendly Fire by Megan Hart is one hell of a fire. It’s hot, sizzling, and will burn you with passion. Yes… this book is not for minor. This is a book you’d only want to pick up when you want a form of romantic and erotic escapism without leaving your house.
This book will melt you. The story is not only intriguing, but the sex scene that’s interwoven in this erotica was beautifully and tastefully...more
