I really enjoyed this book. Maryjanice Davidson is an amazing writer. I love how all her stories have a seriousness with comedy. I never read a book by MJD that I never liked. This is the 3rd book in the Wyndham Werewolf series and it follows the story of Derik and Sara. It is also the longest of the series. Most of her books are not that long, and that's the only thing I wish different. I really took to this series, the werewolves and their love lives always have interesting, fast plots and ste ...more
I really enjoyed reading this book. Both of the main characters, Sara and Derik, were lovable and funny. Derik is a werewolf and Sara is the reincarnation of Morgan Le Fey. He thinks he is supposed to kill her in order to save the world, but ends up falling in love with her instead. She has no idea who she is and ends up falling for him, too. They end up going on a journey to stop the "bad guys", save the world, and prove she is not evil. It may be just the teeniest bit far fetched... Ok. It was ...more
I really enjoyed this book. I read it while stuck in an airport for 3 hours. It was quite entertaining & I laughed aloud in several sections (much to the curiosity of my fellow travelers). This is a really fun read.

5/10 on my blog: Book Chick City

I have read and really enjoyed the first couple of books from Ms Davidson's 'Undead' series, so I was looking forward to reading this werewolf tale. Although it is a fairly fun, quick read, it didn't engage me as much as the 'Undead' books.

The story is an interesting one: a werewolf sent to kill a powerful sorceress who is about to end the world. Derik, the werewolf, is tall, blonde and very good-looking, and Sara, a doctor who doesn't actually know she is a power
This would be the first romance novel I've read that begins with the hero doing his darndest to end the heroine's life. It's probably the only attempted-murder scene that's had me laughing out loud too! But then again, I would expect nothing less from Mary Janice Davidson. She is just insanely funny. I have this mental image of her sitting in her office writing, having a big belly laugh as her characters run off at the mouth yet again. Man, if I was Mary Janice Davidson I would be in constant de ...more

I've not previously read a Wyndhma Werewolf Tale, so I came into DERIK'S BANE with no preconceptions. I enjoyed the story, the characters, and the typical MaryJanice Davidson wit, although I did find the ending (which happened in about two pages) a wee bit far-fetched.

Derik Gardner, hottie and member of the Wyndham Pack, has recently been feeling a little out of sorts. When he loses control one morning and gets into it with alpha Michael Wyndham (his leader and best friend since childhood), he

I'm used to MJD's stories being light on plot. They're usually more focused on romance and laughs than on finer details and I've been okay with that.

But this was ridiculous.

Derik's Bane started off relatively well. Derik is sent on a save-the-world mission thanks to Antonia's visions. He hunts his target, only to find a hot redhead he instantly lovelusts. Naturally.

What follows is not terribly amusing or all that sexy, so the plot problems become painfully obvious. Even though an enemy is estab
Fortunately, even though Derik is an alpha werewolf, he’s not in the way of behaving way too alpha for me to enjoy reading about him. Derik is given a mission by the Pack’s seeress to go take care of an “evil sorceress” before she ends the world. But, she totally isn’t evil. So, that’s nice. But, they’ve still got to save the world. And that’s cool.
There’s a lot more plot to this latest installment of the Wyndham Werewolves than the last, which makes me pretty happy. I’m not a fan when a story,
If you're reading or had read MaryJanice Davidson's Queen Betsy series and want more Antonia and the Wyndham Werewolf Pack, pick up this fun-filled quick read. Derik is Antonia's best friend in the Pack and leaves on a quest to "save the world" after Antonia has one of her visions of the future. He's to find the most powerful sorceress EVER, Morgan Le Fay (from King Arthur) reincarnated at Dr. Sara Gunn and "take care of her" which he interprets as a hit order like from the Godfather or somethin ...more
This author is just not to my tastes, I guess. Too rude, lewd, crude, and with very weak plots. I don't care for the constant (and creative) cursing, and the 'romance' is anything but. I'll be passing on anything else by this author.

ETA: Oh, and a word of warning to those that hate such; the story at the end of this one "Monster Love" is a trite sample of the "kidnapped and raped repeatedly, she can't help but fall in love with him..." school of 'romance'. I'd avoid it, personally.

This book just cracks me up. It's so funny. Maybe you have to 'get' MJD sense of humour to fully appreciate it but I adore it. I wish I'd written it! The plot is preposterous but works. The characters are totally over the top and that works. Her turn of phrase is just perfect. Third time I've read it and it's a keeper. If I ever needed a book to make me smile - I'd turn to this one.
Werewolf Derik Gardner is told by a psychic that the world will end soon unless he does something about it. So he heads to California on a mission to destroy the reincarnation of Morgan Le Fay. The reincarnated sorceress is now Dr. Sara Gunn, a beautiful woman who has no idea that she is Morgan Le Fay. Derik doesn't like the idea of killing her, but he'll do it for his pack. But, each time he tries, he doesn't meet with success. Sara Gunn is one of the luckiest women in the world.

This was a cute
If you've seen my last review, you'll wonder why I read another one. I have no answer. There is only...shame.
this was a really funny book...but i still dont know what the cover means????
Derik’s Bane is exactly what it appears on the surface - a light, quick, frivolous, paranormal romance. Derik the Werewolf is sent to stop the unspeakably evil Morgan le Fay (aka Dr. Sara Gunn) from destroying the world. Sara is cute, goofy, “the female embodiment of the absent-minded professor,” and has absolutely no idea who she really is. Not only does she have no intention of destroying the world, she falls for her would-be assassin. Quite a good start but, after that, there is nothing but b ...more

Derik Gardner is an alpha werewolf but Derik’s pack already has an Alpha who is also his best friend, and two Alphas in one pack can cause problems. Derik decides to leave and a mission comes on at the right time for his departure.
Derick has been given the task of killing Dr. Sara Gunn is the reincarnation of Morgan Le Fay, King Arthur’s half-sister who was believed to be the downfall of the King and a sorceress to boot.
Sara on the other hand is having a bad day. Her cars dies and is predicted t

Derik, a werewolf from MaryJanice Davidson's east-coast Pack of Wyndham werewolves, is on a mission: he has been told to "take care of" Dr. Sarah Gunn, the reincarnation of Morgan Le Fay - lest she destroy the world. The only problem? Sarah isn't evil. In fact, she's downright cute, and too lucky for words. When Derik literally cannot kill her, he and Sarah decide to team up to take a cross-country road trip to track down and eliminate the real threat.

The story was cute. I finished it quickly, b

Given this by a friend who wanted to know if it was suitable for her 8 year old grand-daughter who liked the cartoon like cover - thank goodness she did so as full of expletives and the occasional (laughable but still pretty graphic) sex scenes it was far from suitable.

Largely regarded as a riotous romp of a read, sorry to say I found this to be full of an outdated school-boyish 'humour' (odd given that its written by a woman) and obnoxious immature characters who came out with some of the most

I really enjoyed this book. It's one of those quick reads that you can get through in a day or two but is enjoyable once you get into it. I like the comedic aspects of this book; the characters have their own hilarious quirks about them which keeps the story upbeat and interesting.

I'm a Mary Janice Davidson fan and I loved her Undead series, I'm not entirely sold on her Wyndham Werewolf series, but I can definitely get into these books and stay interested in them. Her writing style is entertain
Meh, what can I say, Mary Janice Davidson, right? It's a good read if read at the right time, luckily for me after having read a couple(read: almost all), of Mary Janice books I new that she was what the doctor ordered after the bad turnout from one of my Uni exams. Seriously, who needs to be all emo and depressed when laughter can be found so easily between the pages of a well-favoured author? Derik's Bane was very effective medication, between Sara's clumsy luck-scapades, Derik's cook teen-fand ...more

As part of the Wyndham Werewolf Pack, Derik has always gotten along with his best friend and Alpha Pack Leader, Michael Wyndham. Lately, however, Derik has been getting fidgety and bad tempered and Michael decides it's time for Derik to take a trip. A fellow werewolf named Antonia has the ability to foretell the future, and she's never wrong. When she "sees" the reincarnation of the evil sorceress Morgan LeFay running around in California, Antonia fortells that Morgan must be taken care of or sh ...more
A readable little novella. Not the best novella, but it does give a little more background on the Wyndham Werewolves that pop up occasionally in MaryJanice's Undead series and is a very short read. Undead readers who are fans of the werewolves in the series would probably really enjoy this.
A werewolf spin off from the UnDead and UnWed Vampire series. Who would have thought? Hunky werewolf meets the reincarnation of Morgan Le FAy (who is a nurse with a PhD, btw) and, once he stops trying to kill her, they join forces to save the world. All in a day's work....

I'm going to pass this on to my girlfriend, who may just get a kick out of it. She's the one who shares trailer park trash mysteries with me and other goodies!

I actually loved this book. It was a quick read, humorous and the sex scene was awkward as hell and funny. People just need to chill. I loved Derik and Sara was just how you would expect anyone to be. Confused as hell.
