This is the sixth book in the wonderful nine book Bone series by Jeff Smith. I have been loving this series and this was a wonderful continuation of it. Gma Ben and Thorn (along with all of our favorites) are back and events are clipping along at a fast pace.
The book starts out with Gma Ben and Lucius at Old Man's Cave, where the village has taken shelter. Fone Bone and Smiley Bone are still lost in the woods trying to make their way to the burning village. Seemingly random events More...

I obviously came in during the middle of the story, and I have no idea what kind of creature Bone is or what sort of world he inhabits, but I liked the story just the same. Graphic Novels are not my favorite kind of format. I usually like them when I read them, but they require a different kind of reading than plain text, so for me they are actually more work and I have to pay more attention. But this particular story was heavy on the fantasy, there was action and giant tigers, sibling rivalr

Reason for Reading: next in the series
We are right in the middle of all the action with this volume. The battle has started and everyone steps up to the plate and shows their mettle. Fone and Smiley are still lost in the woods from the previous book until they meet up with Thorn and continue the journey with her. Gran'ma Ben has called everyone together at Old Man's Cave where they can put up a united stand against the rat creatures under the leadership of the Hooded One, whose iden More...

I finished reading another Bone book by Jeff Smith. In my opinion this was a very good book in the Bone series, in fact it is my favorite Bone book so far. The reason why I liked this book so much is because, I found the setting of the book to be very detailed and the setting and theme of this book is a little darker than the ones that I previously read. The feel of this book kept me reading because this Bone book was more serious than the others that I read, and I was more into it because of th

I liked it because you get to see what the hooded one looks like. And I think thorn is going to turn to the hooded one because the other hooded said that she was dead and she looked like she was dead. Then the locust came out of the hooded one and went to Thorn. I think shes' the hooded one because the locusts were keeping the other hooded one alive and remember that the went over to Thorn then Thorn back alive. I think because of the locust then like the other hooded one Thorn put her coat on e

Bone: Old Man’s Cave is the sixth of the Bone series. These graphic novels tell the story of three bones, who wander into a valley and they learn that conflict is about to erupt, and Phoney is going to be in the center of it. As the villagers of Barrelhaven flee to Old Man’s cave, the fortress of the Veni-Yan warriors, Fone Bone and Smiley find themselves surrounded by rat creatures bent on killing them. Thorn arrives just in time to save the day. Thorn, Fone Bone, and Smiley find a hollowed-o

In this bone book they fight the rat creatures. The hooded guy tries to kill all of the good characters. Bone again saves thorn and they fight the rat creatures.
I connect this book to the past bone books. In these books it builts on the idea that they have to destroy all the rat creatures and figure why thorn has these strange dreams.
I gave this book two stars because i thought it was ok. The bone serious is interesting but.. i just can't stay reading the book.

This is the end of the 'second trilogy,' according to the jacket info, and it ends with a bang! The dialogue has gotten a little stilted as the action's crossed over from 'common folk of the valley' into more richly mythologised fantasy territory, but it doesn't slow down the story for even a moment. In fact, this book, despite the TON of story it has to get across, may have been the fastest read of them yet. Next stop, the concluding trilogy.

I think this book is very good. Thorn and Bone make a relationship in this book. They learn to help each other so they can both stay alive. The guys after them are the hooded one who is grandma Ben's sister. They want Thorn and Bones cousin because they believe if they sacrifice them they can reborn the lord of the locusts who kept grandma Ben's sister alive. I would read this book over and over because it is so good.

Old Man's Cave the sixth Bone book by Jeff Smith started off with a bang. Thorn finds Fone and Smiley and with Ted's help leads them to the Old Man's Cave. They meet up with Phoney and Grandma but Rock Jaw needs Phoney to see something at a mountain. The Locust attacks and it becomes clear just how dangerous the Hooded One is.
With all this action going on I realized I had missed something. I was sitting her looking at a giant talking mountain lion wondering why I had forgotten about More...

I think this book is really good and it has awesome illustrations. I liked how in this booked it was catchy at some points also it was short but i understand its a comic book. This book is definitely a keeper. I give this book a 4 star just because it wasn't long enough and there's more parts to it but in different book series.

There are some really fantastic (and sometimes hilarious) shifts and twists in this volume!
I also love that with all of Thorn's powers and abilities, she still draws strength from the presence of Fone Bone. We see evidence of this when she wishes that he was there while she's trying to decide whether or not to go to Old Man's Cave.

Bone series, book 6.
Lots and lots of plot in this installment. As the war for control of the valley escalates, the Bones are reunited, we learn more about the royal family, the identity of the hooded one, and the reason the rat monsters are hunting Phoney Bone.
Marvelous and approriate for all ages.

One of the best so far! Really amazing story! finally answers to who the hooded one is, but more mystery into what is up with Thorn? ***Spoiler***The only thing I didn't like about this book was that there was no stupid rat creatures =/ I love them and they weren't in this book. Also I wish the Red Dragon would come back it bummed me out that he wasn't in this book either, and that the dragons have one "Underground" I would love to do a literary study one this book and see some of the

Reprints Bone #33-37. The people of Barrelhaven retreat ot Old Man's Cave and the Bones and Thorn learn why the Hooded One is seeking Phoney. This collection ends the second story arc in Bone. It ends the wandering around the mountains of book 5 and gears up for the war presented in books 7-9.

It's interesting that this series is so highly recommended for kids since there's philosophical and mythical underpinnings that I'm not fully grasping, but I suppose the surface story alone is so high quality and full of action, adventure, and humor that it can be appreciated on many levels.

Yikes, some close calls in this one. The beginning of the book does quite a bit to advance the saga and the end is the classic cliffhanger that makes you want to run to the comic book shop for the next volume. It's now clear why Phoney Bone has been hunted, but it's not so clear where the story is going next. On to number seven.

This book is about war in the valley. Fone and Smiley bone go with Gramma Ben and Lucius to than fight the rat creatures at the Old Mans Cave. Fone and Smiley thought that they had it well but Fone got stuck in a stone altar to be a sacrified. Thorn can't help out because she is not able to move.
I cant connect to this or any sort of connection.
I dont recommed this book because its way to short and very boring.

More battles between the bones, rat creatures, locusts lords, princesses and all. More prophecy revealed. The books after the fourth one lag a bit, specially because they uncover bits of the larger story and go on and on about people walking across landscapes.

This was going on three stars (which means I was enjoying it) until that ending. The ending gave it 4 stars.
Edit: And the ending wasn't as gutsy as I had thought... Gotta wait out those cliffhangers some.
