Continuously referring to prior events and with little character explanation , Eyes of the Storm would not be easy to follow by readers who have missed the first two books.Blob-shaped, white, talking creatures and hayseed farmers who use eggs as currency tell the tale of attacking rodents, fierce storms and a dragon that wends his way into dreams. Jeff Smith has created a story that is part dark fairy tale and part slapstick comedy. In the third installment of the series, Fone Bone’s cousins tra

This is the third book in the nine book Bone series by Jeff Smith. A great addition to this series, I thought this was the best book yet.
The Bones are still in the valley trying to eke out a living. In the beginning of the story they are all helping Thorne and Gma rebuild their house. Smiley Bone and Phoney Bone eventually have to leave to settle their debts in town. A surprising secret is revealed about Thorne's identity and Fone Bone and her are plunged deeper into a strange que More...

Things aren't getting easier in the valley, in fact they are getting worse. Lucius, Smiley and Phoney are attacked while heading back to the tavern. The rat creatures almost got them, but thanks to some last minute thinking by Smiley, they made it out alive. Well, barely.
At the farm, Fone Bone and Thorn are troubled by strange dreams they've been having. They know the dreams mean something and Gran'ma isn't too happy with hearing about the dreams.

Things begin to heat up with this installment of the Bone series, as secrets of the past are revealed (with plenty more to spare). A little bit of light is shed on the villian who is after the Bone cousins, although it is still not known why he's after them. This was definitely the more serious volume of the three I've read so far, although there were still several laugh-out-loud moments, such as when Fone Bone finally gives Grandma Ben the map he found in the desert, only he mistakenly gives

This series is so full of clichés, I find it hard to get into. I think the only character I like is Grandma - and her over-dramatization of everything is beginning to get tedious. I also find the humour in this series puerile and basic as it comes. It's pretty sad that my second favourite characters are the rat creatures.
That being said, for such a basic story, it's tightly plotted, and very well drawn. I liked this book slightly better than the goofiness of the last one, but it'll More...

Bone: Volume #3 Eyes of the Storm finally gets around to revealing the big secret about Thorn's past and where she came from and why the Rat Creatures are after her. I kinda knew this was where the story was going so it wasn't that big of a reveal to me. This is still a great yarn, but for me, Volume #3 gets a lower rating because it seemed like there wasn't as much of Bone as in the two previous Volumes. A lot was spent on Thorn, Gran'ma and the rest in order to tell their story and set up what

This Bone book is when all the action starts up. Grama ben reveals her amazing secret to Thorn and Fone bone, Fone and Thorn both start having strange dreams at the same time, but the question that both of them have is that if this really is a coincidence.
Phoney Bone starts up another one of his "ideas" by agreeing to a bet with Lucius. The bet was that they would split Lucius' bar right down the middle and whoever turned a better profit won. If Phoney won, he didnt have More...

Bone is a suspenseful action book involving all sorts of things including dragons, mysterious bone creatures, hairy rat creatures, local villagers who use produce, livestock, and home goods as currency, and two farmwomen who are named rose and thorn. This book in my opinion is the fourth best Bone book out of the entire series, of course thats just my opinion. This is one of the longer Bone books because of how much being told. This has many more characters than the others before it because t

The action begins to pick up here as revelations about the past are made. Lucious, Phoney Bone and Smiley Bone continue to provide comic relief, while Fone, Thorn, and Gran'ma Ben provide the emotional heart. There's still plenty to be revealed though and the danger is ramping up.
The art, particularly in these full color editions, is simply gorgeous but also has some fun touches of humor. The storm scenes with some panels illuminated by lightning give an amazing sense of actually being in More...

This graphic novel is fun to read because it's about a big storm heading towards the forest where Grandma Ben's cabin is located. The two cousins, Phoney Bone and Smiley decided to start heading towards the Barrel Heaven with the big owner who owns it. Grandma Ben, Thorn and Fone Bone wish them safty and luck as they head their way back. Thorn wanted to talk more with Fone Bone about her weird dreams in the barn. As the three Musketeers were on their way back to the Barrel Heaven, they noticed t

I decided to read this book because it looked like it would be an interesting good book. This book completes the Graphic Novel section on the bingo board. I liked this book because it carried me into the book which made me want to read it more. What I didn't like about this book was how it was laid out like a comic book. I would recommend this book to kids aged 10-14 because it's a creative book and it is a simple book to read and comprehend.

Much more interesting than I was prepared for. The throw-back youthfulness and simplicity of the artwork, and the fantasy genre of the material, had set me up for the kind of story that isn't usually up my alley, but the character work and the subtext of both the dialogue and the artwork made for a fun and eventually fascinating read. By the time I finished this, I wished I'd started at the beginning and was itching to read the rest.

I gave this book five stars because i like reading comics. I thought this book would be good for ages 10 and up. You get really into it though then when the best part come you have to read the next book in the series in order to tell whats going to happen next otherwise my favorite part of this book is when there in the woods and the rat cretures come and fone bone yell dragon help and the rat cretures scurry.

I decided to read this book because i had read a few other Bone books in the series and this one looked good. This book completes the graphic novel category on the bingo board. This book was really original and exciting. In some bits of the book it would get a bit weird or sometimes boring, but overall it was pretty enjoyable. I would recommend this book to boys and girls around 11-14 years of age.

I started this series because I bought most of them in support of my middle school's library. I remember wondering what it was that drew so many boys to this series that the books were almost always checked out.
After reading Eyes of the Storm, I have a pretty good idea. There's fighting, gambling, these two stupid rat creatures who make me laugh every time they appear in a frame because they argue like an old married couple.
