I was absolutely positive, when I read this book in junior high, that I would be the female Willie Morris. And I did follow Willie from Mississippi to Austin, but alas: the similarities ended there. Still, this memoir remains one of my top-five favorite reads.

I love Willie Morris' writings. This one did not disappoint. Loved reading about his years on the East Coast and his longings for home versus his ambivalence towards home. Much great history in his musings.
