A Perfect Blood - A Near Perfect Blend of Old School and New School Hollows

I'd love me a helluva lot of Trent and Al in this book.
Wow! I love the cover! So dark. And it's black and red. hmmm... maybe there's gonna be some kind of seduction thing in here. oh! With Al! Or Trent! Either of those and I'll be fine.
... or maybe there's just gonna be a lot of death and darkness. Whatever, I can deal with that too.
love this series!
ooooh and check that out! there's someone in the background. veeeeeery mysterious.

Ever since I finished the amazing and phenomenal Pale Demon, I have been counting the days until I could get my hands on this book. Pale Demon was epic: huge action, major personal developments, and a sweeping array of the major characters in the Hollows universe. A Perfect Blood went in a decidedly different direction.

Rachel is out of the closet but finding that having been declared dead and being the only Demon this side of the ley lines has added a whole level of frustrating complications to her life. But life is going to get even tougher - someone is killing witches and the reason is connected to the dirty little secret that Rachel's outing exposed. Having seen the brutal results of those 'someones' handiwork Rachel is determined to be the one to bring them down, even though she is magically hobbled and h

Woohoo, lets get out some champagne and celebrate because the girl is finally behaving like she has a head on her shoulders and is actually using it! Yes, I am talking about Rachel. Our girl is finally growing up. The story is every bit as good as Pale Demon. Ivy and Jenks are progressing wonderfully. Al fans will be happy too because he makes several appearances. There are surprises and plot twists to shock, but still no hot and heavy action between Rachel and Trent. I have always been a

In some ways, A PERFECT BLOOD felt like a greatest hits or a reunion show - characters, events, and themes that sometimes take a backseat in the Hollows books all play a part. There's lots of Ivy, David the alpha werewolf, politicking amongst I.S. and F.I.B., lame ex-boyfriend Marshal, Ceri, Quen, a very satisfying amount of Trent. This assemblage, friend and foe, all seems to point toward something new, something I've never thought about in the Hollows books before: endgame.

I was super excited to get my hands on this advanced copy. This is my absolute favorite paranormal/urban fantasy series, which is why I have a hard time giving it anything other than full marks.
The book opens with Rachel and everyone else in her life trying to adjust to the new “normal”. Rachel, now an official demon, is finding that even the most mundane tasks are next to impossible when you aren’t considered to be human anymore. Even worse, she has voluntarily cut herself off from More...

The coven has recognized that Rachel Morgan is a demon. Al and those in the ever-after believe she's dead and she's wearing a spelled bracelet made by Trent that prevents her from doing ley line magic and keeps her out of the demon collective. But all is not well. As far as the government is concerned Rachel is dead, so she can't even get a driver's license or her car registered in her name. And it turns out that since demons don't live in this reality, there aren't any laws protecting their rig

This is book 10 in Kim Harrison's "The Hollows" series. You don't want to start the series with this book, trust me. If you're interested, go pick up "Dead Witch Walking". Don't read this review, it will contain spoilers for earlier books in the series, it's unavoidable.

I was starting to get a little disenchanted with the Hollows series a few books ago. It just seemed like the story lines were starting to become repetitive, took readers in a circle and didn't seem to be moving toward anything. However, things started to turn around in past couple of installments, with the return of Harrison's signature humor and sparks and excitement and action that made the Hollows such a fun place to visit. A Perfect Blood keeps the spark going and the action-packed awesome r

At the end of Pale Demon, Trent sagely outlines to Rachel the danger of rendering herself helpless in the midst of so many enemies. Brought back from the brink of death after kicking Ku'Sox's butt, and nearly losing her aura by unwittingly carving out a new ley line that has devastating effects in the everafter, Rachel has some tough choices to make. Will she try to live her life without her demon enhanced abilities? Can she? Can she even go back to being an earth witch?

The 10th book in the Hollows series. Rachel has been officially labeled a demon and has been bound to prevent her from tapping into the ley lines. Since her demonblood keeps her from activating the higher level witch spells, this is leaving her without much in the way of defenses. So when the IS comes to her because witches with high Rosewood counts are being abducted and mutated towards demon it's at first because they fear she may be doing it and once they are sure she isn't, then her choic

How do you make the perfect Demon? With the Perfect Blood of course. So only Rachel Morgan survivor of the Rosewood Syndrome will be that coveted source of blood. The only thing is Rachel is more concerned in finding a way to live normally now that she has come out the closet and admitted to the world witches are nothing more than stunted demons. What’s a girl to do when she can’t even register her car? Accept a deal with the devil of course.

Well first off I gotta say that I love Kim Harrison, she is one of my favorite authors. Her books are funny and the story is well written. In this installment there was a lot of action going on and you find out more about her demon background. I really would have liked to have seen some type of love interest in this book, but it was lacking. I thought the story was very good and it kept me indulged to the end. Now I really really want to read the next one and who knows when that one will be

At first I was a little letdown at the start of this book. It started interesting but slow. Rachel is not on the radar of the demons due to a charmed bracelet that is wearing. However, this causes her to be considered dead in the human world so it starts out as she is trying to get her license back. Then it really starts picking up. I found this book to be fascinating on so many different levels due to the bad guys in the book. The reader finds out so many things about elfs, demons and eve

Damn! :) <3 So the book's ending gave it a feel of being near the end of the series, the whole "one month later" thing and all, but still enough cliffhangers to merit more books, before reading A Perfect Blood, I was worried that it would be impossible to wrap the books with just 2 or 3 more books, but now I believe I will be very happy with the series finale. <spoiler> I love how Rachel and Trent are being set up!!! OMG! Wayde thnks they're a couple, Al thinks they're a coupl

Clueless how to review this one without spoilers. I'll just say was an excellent, rollicking read and still surprising. 10th book in The Hollows series; and, frankly, there are not exactly a lot of series out there that even three books into I am still giving 5 stars. Pre-ordered without even waiting for this to hit library or paperback and well worth it. I think I would take maybe an eighth of a star away for still <spoiler>not having a big romance although we still get teasers and it

"You are not fine." Ceri took my arm, pinching it painfully to keep me from pulling away from her. "And don't you let her walk the entire way," she admonished Trent.
"I'm not going to pick her up and carry her screaming to the basement," Trent said. "It's a workday. Besides, she has a crutch."
"Crutch or no, she's hurt!" Ceri protested.

When approach the tenth novel in a series, one hopes that the author can still find ways to keep the series fresh and engaging. I imagine that this is not something that is easy to do, especially when I read other late installments in log running series and wonder when I finish, well what was the point of that? Kim Harrison and her The Hollows series does not have that problem.
I started reading this series when the very first book in the series, Dead Witch Walking, was released. The More...

Things really seemed to drag in this one. The story was enjoyable, but there were too many parts that seemed to drag it out. At one point everyone was getting prepared to raid a "baddie" hideout and it just went on and on. Honestly, do we need a 6 page dialogue about how the bust is going to go down? No so much. I want to read about the actual take-down, not the preparation of it. Not to mention one of the baddies must have been related to Freddy Krueger because that guy wouldn't

Just finished an ARC that I won, though now I have to wait that much longer for the next book to come out. I'd actually give it three and a half stars if that were an option but I'm rounding up. :-)
I won't be giving out spoilers here, just my general impressions. Pale Demon still remains my unchallenged favorite of the series to date but this book has quite a few good things going for it as well. Let me start out by saying that Jenks, Trent and Al are my three favorite characters More...

Series fan on book 10, trying to avoid detailed spoilers, so this review probably won't make sense to those who haven't read the series.
Finally, we're getting back on track! Each of the last two books has been better than the last, and I'm starting to believe again. The high point of For A Few Demons More is still a bittersweet memory, but the last two Hollows novels are at least helping me forget the debacle of failed potential and betrayed expectations that was the revelation in Wh More...

I keep waiting for this series to get back on its feet again, but it seems to be following the same dark path of so many other paranormal series into just plain silliness and needless angst. This latest installment was just...not good. For the first half, our hero Rachel does little except moan about what a jerk she is, how useless, nobody likes her, perhaps she will eat worms. And the sad thing is, I couldn't do anything but agree with her. It was just tiresome. Action picks up a little bi

A Perfect Blood started out slow for me and Rachel was seriously irritating my soul. Talk about being a whiny bitch. Great thing about Kim Harrison...........she doesn't disappoint and writes Rachel exactly as she's supposed to be so Rachel can accept herself.
There's a new/old group in town, Humans Against Paranormal Association (HAPA), and they're out to make sure all paranormal become extinct. It's up to Rachel, Ivy, Jenks, F.I.B, and the I.S to keep this ignorant men and women from More...

Another great edition to the series not my favourite but it was still a really good read. I've always liked this series although I have to admit the constant mention of vampire pheramones and Ivy and Rachel reaction to each other is getting a little old I think it's something that maybe we just need to get away from but that's just my opinion. I'am enjoying the changing relationship between Trent and Rachel it's moving a little slower than I would like but then I can't wait to see what they w

Pale Demon left us with a slightly damaged Rachel having been through hell and back keeping the world together from demons, when the real world was at the same time slamming her for her heritage and abilities. APB shows us a side of Rachel that is frightened of the world coming down around her with the release of her designation as a demon and even getting her driver's license is brings about trouble. Money woes are down, but home woes are up and soon to be getting harder to handle as her pack A

How is it that, after ten books in the same series, Kim Harrison and her most excellent character, Rachel Morgan, just keep getting better? At this point, many series peter out or get repetitive but not The Hollows. This series gets better with age, gaining depth and layers like a fine wine or a good cheese.
When last we left Rachel (and, yes, there will be spoilers but I'll try to keep them to a minimum), she came out. Yep, our little Rache came out as a demon *sniffle*. I'm so proud More...

It's coming down to the wire now, folks. After this book there's only 2 more books left to the series, with the potential of a bonus book afterwards. I ended up getting this through eBay and I have to say, it was money well spent. Harrison is worth spending money on.
