I’ve found another author to add to my list of favorite suspense writers! Irene Hannon captured my attention in Fatal Judgment, but sold me hook, line, and sinker with Deadly Pursuit. Wowza! From the first page, I was drawn into this intricate plot and amazing, brave characters. But be forewarned, once you get into this book, it’s extremely hard to put down!

I’ve found another author to add to my list of favorite suspense writers! Irene Hannon captured my attention in Fatal Judgment, but sold me hook, line, and sinker with Deadly Pursuit. Wowza! From the first page, I was drawn into this intricate plot and amazing, brave characters. But be forewarned, once you get into this book, it’s extremely hard to put down!

Getting a small introduction to Alison from Fatal Judgment, I was looking forward to reading her story. Her independent streak was pretty thick, but I liked her for it. From the very first scene with Mitch, I knew I’d like his easy, fun-loving nature. The banter back and forth between him and Alison brought a smile to my lips more than once. The brotherly protection she gets from Cole and Jake was also really sweet to see. :-)

The plot behind Deadly Pursuit was really intricate. I really liked how, at first, the anonymous gifts and calls were harmless, but, eventually, her stalker’s hatred deepened until it led up to the grand finale. All the scenes from the stalkers prospective really added a special, unique, touch to this book, in my opinion. It really put the reader inside the killer’s twisted mindset.

Irene Hannon’s writing style is amazing! Instantly, I was hooked on this book. The last half of the book I was unwilling—and unable—to put it down. I would recommend this for older teens and adults for two main reasons. Drugs are used and talked about often in the scenes from the stalkers point of view; what they do, how to take them, etc. Also, Alison’s stalker goes to great lengths to taunt her and make her fear him, going so far as to make her think he is going to rape her. Irene’s gift with words puts the reader right in the scene and I found myself freaked a bit at times.

So, if you’re looking for a good book to get your blood pumping and have you on the edge of your seat, I highly recommend Deadly Pursuit. Fans of Irene Hannon’s new series, Guardians of Justice, are going to be thrilled to dive into yet another awesome adventure with the Taylor siblings.(less)

"Deadly Pursuit" is a Christian romantic suspense novel. It's the second in the series, but you don't need to read the first book to understand this one, and the first book didn't spoiled in this one.

The characters were interesting and acted realistically to the situations they were in. (Side note: I've only met one man in real life that had dimples, yet it seems like 95% of current romantic heroes have them!) I couldn’t wait to get this book since I had read (and reviewed) Fatal Judgment, the first book in the Guardians of Justice series. That one was a great read and I was looking for the same action-packed and intense story line. I certainly was not disappointed!

Starting with the first chapter of Deadly Pursuit, I was hooked. Although this is a continuation in the Guardians of Justice series, it can also be read as a stand-alone book. Ms. Hannon gives enough background to entice the new reader but...more I couldn’t wait to get this book since I had read (and reviewed) Fatal Judgment, the first book in the Guardians of Justice series. That one was a great read and I was looking for the same action-packed and intense story line. I certainly was not disappointed!

Starting with the first chapter of Deadly Pursuit, I was hooked. Although this is a continuation in the Guardians of Justice series, it can also be read as a stand-alone book. Ms. Hannon gives enough background to entice the new reader but doesn’t become overly repetitive to the reader from Fatal Judgment. After the background on the characters, you’re pulled right into the storyline.

I like how Hannon gave us details about the bad guys—for most of us, it’s an unknown way of life. Many addicts blame the bad things in their lives on someone else instead of taking accountability. Seeing how their minds work was illuminating. I loved how Hannon got into their heads and actions to explain the “why” behind what they do.

On the flip side, the Taylor clan is the antithesis of the “villains”. Hardworking, compassionate, and faithful (for the most part) make an interesting contrast to the bad guys. Although this is a Christian novel, it’s not “preachy”. It’s moving how each character trusts God to intervene and lead them in the right direction, even if they don’t know what direction that is. To me, that’s true faith and that’s one of the reasons I enjoy Ms. Hannon’s books.

One thing that did disturb me was a couple of the graphic situations---I won’t spoil the story but if you are squeamish, beware! That’s about the only negative I have on Deadly Pursuit---it’s definitely a book you can’t put down, especially the last few chapters. Grab one for yourself—you won’t be sorry!

Overall, I give Deadly Pursuit 4 stars. Thank you Ms Hannon! I look forward to the next installment!

I would love to sing rave reviews about this book, but I just can't. I did enjoy the overall theme and story line but could have done with out all the physical descriptions of how beautiful Alison was and how handsome he was. I've read 4 books by Irene Hannon (5 counting 'Deadly Pursuit') and I've enjoyed each one! Before I even started 'Deadly Pursuit', I fully expected to love it and I did!

I love how Irene writes suspense novels that keep me at the "edge-of-my-seat" without gratuitous violence or vulgar language. How she weaves romance in the story that doesn't involve explicit love scenes or things similar in nature.

As always with an Irene Hannon novel there is mounting suspense that seems to squeeze the breath out of you. In "Deadly Pursuit" Ms. Hannon seems to have written her best story yet. Alison's life in great jeopardy and this thriller becomes more and more exciting with the last hundred pages being an extremely wild ride. All I can say is imagine going on a roller coaster the beginning of the ride is nothing until you get to the top and experience that first drop then it is nothing but twists, turns, upside down loops until the ride ends. This is what Ms. Hannon does to us as readers with this book.

This is a fun read, it is a fast read, however I do not recommend starting this book late at night because it will cost you sleep as you will not want to put it down. Ms. Hannon is an excellent writer who knows how to twist your nerve endings as she tightens the suspense. I recommend this book, and everything else that Ms. Hannon has written, highly!!

This is an amazing book. Deadly Pursuit is book 2 in the Guardians of Justice series, but is a very good stand alone book. This series is about two brothers and a sister. Book 1 Fatal Judgment was about the older brother and this book is mainly about Alison the sister.

Deadly Pursuit is the second novel in Hannon's Guardians of Justice series, and focuses on the sole female member of the Taylor siblings trio, Alison. I've had friends who work in Child Protective Services, and based on my second-hand knowledge of what social workers deal with in their jobs I can tell you Hannon did her homework. The stress and pressure Alison deals with on the job, and the overwhelming pull to become personally involved in heart-breaking cases that victimize the most vulnerable among us, and the potential dangers in those cases is spot-on accurate. Alison quickly became one of my favorite Hannon heroines - she is a beautifully realized, fully-dimensional character whose weaknesses are balanced with a deep-seated strength that can only stem from a faith refined and purified by fire. I could really relate to her struggles to find her place in her very-involved family, and I appreciated how Hannon worked through Alison's tensions with her brothers in a very realistic way. Family relationships can be among the stickiest of all, and its refreshing to see honest frustrations expressed and dealt with in a productive fashion. And I loved Mitch and Alison's relationship. Mitch is one of my favorite Hannon heroes, the alpha male in him balanced with a sensitivity and understanding for Alison's relationship-related reticence that is heart-rendingly sweet.

I really don't know how Irene Hannon does it, but she keeps surpassing herself with each new release. While it is possible I'm suffering from "most recent novel is my favorite" syndrome, I am going to go out on a limb here and declare that Deadly Pursuit has tied with, if not surpassed, In Harm's Way as my favorite Hannon novel yet. Hannon's ability to keep ratcheting up the suspense and tension is unparalleled, a marvel even more so when you consider that, knowing her history, she's going to deliver a "happy ending." But when you have that expectation and you're still breathlessly turning pages, your heart in your throat -- that is a suspense novel penned with masterful skill. Mixed with a heart-stopping, swoon-worthy romance, that despite the novel's short timeframe still manages to feel genuine and authentic, is the recipe for a romantic suspense winner. Hannon is without question my go-to author for sizzling romantic tension mixed with chilling moments of danger. Deadly Pursuit exhibits her writing skills at their finest, with pacing worthy of the best television crime procedural, heart-pounding tension, swoon-worthy romance, and a subtle thread of faith - a heady, addictive mix that will leave you eager for her next release!(less)

I first became acquainted with Irene Hannon’s writing with her last book, Fatal Judgement. I really enjoyed this book. I really enjoy this genre of Christian fiction. Some of that is probably due to my husband being ex-Navy, ex-police officer (now a preacher!). The pace was good without being too overdone. There were a few too many "coincidences" that had they not happened, the case would not have been solved, but overall it was a good story, well written.

Hang on to your hat, this book is very intense so much so that I had a hard time reading it in parts! That said I can't give it a full five stars not because it wasn't a thrilling, interesting read but it made me cringe so many times and I was genuinely creeped out! This is definitely NOT for the faint of heart. I read a lot of different books, including general market fiction which can get kind of grisly but I think this one takes the cake. Mitch is back in St. Louis to take care of his dad who had bypass surgery. He's trying to avoid the matchmaking attempts by his female relatives when he takes Alison to a family wedding. He isn't looking for a relationship but something about her really gets to him. Before the wedding is over he knows that he wants to see her again. When he finds out about the threats to her his protective instincts kick in also. I really liked Mitch's sweetness with Alison and his understanding of her feelings. I loved the way that he knew quickly that he wanted to keep her in his life but had the patience to move at her speed.

I usually prefer a bit more heat in my romances but Irene Hannon's books are always so good that I don't mind the difference. She does a lovely job of developing the relationship without depending on physical intimacies. There is a lot more time spent on getting to know each other. I really liked the epilogue.

The suspense part of the story was really good. It showed the escalation of the stalking and the buildup of the tensions. Part of the story was told from the stalker's point of view. His motivations and thought processes were definitely disturbing and went a long way toward adding to the intensity of the story. I really liked the way that there were multiple events and characters that all added to the progression of the story. As one thing built on another it got harder and harder for me to put the book down. By the time the end came I was wondering how it was going to happen. I loved the intensity of the finale.(less)

Let me start how by saying that I love love love Irene Hannon's novels. Her christian romantic suspense rank aomong my most read books. I have reread her books so many times that it is not even funny.

Irene Hannon has a way with words. There are very few novels I read and then immediately want to reread, but Hannon's novels always fit that bill.

Deadly Pursuit was no exception. I loved her characters Allison and Mitch. Their chemistry was undeniable and I really liked that.

This really is Hannon at her best. The suspense is there from the very first page, but it's the developing romance that held my attention in the beginning. Beautifully developed -- so natural -- loved the teasing conversations, the banter, the inner thoughts not yet divulged. And then..Kaboom!!!!!!! I was shocked. Truly stunned! Irene Hannon has a knack for incorporating pulse-pounding and nail-biting elements in her stories and developing characters that leap off the page!

The level of suspense in this book definitely borders ‘deadly’ and should you try to put the story down for even one minute, it’ll ‘pursue’ you leaving you no other choice than to sit tight and anxiously wait for the ending.

Mitch is head over hills for Alison to find he has to keep her safe if it costs him his life. Alison is not the only person important in his life, Mitch father has gotten old and now needs care that only Mitch can do to get him back on his feet. Bouncing his job, father and new found friend it more on his plate then he can digest. In the mist of it all, Mitch gets a call from Alison “Someone killed my dog!” he quickly makes it over to her place but before he does that he calls his backup, the brothers to also come to her rescue. With quickness the decision wasn’t left up to Alison to make, “Cole speaks, tonight you will at my place and from there you will take turns at each of our house”. No argument from Alison

The angry along with the fear of someone out there has taken away her life time buddy really worked her nervous. The days are coming and going; now Cole gets hurt on his job which leaves Mitch to do the transport of Alison, the time comes for her to leave her job but no Mitch, she calls his cell and the house phone, her calls goes unanswered. That’s when Alison decides enough of this scariness, she thinks to herself “You will be just fine with the lights, people and security in the parking lot everything should be fine.”

Her feet was moving faster then her mind or should I say kindness, it was just in Alison to never leave a women in distress and that’s where Alison was last seen with that kind smile with a gun hold up the women head. “If you don’t get in this truck I will blast her brains all over this parking lot.”

Giving this book 3 badges means that I liked it, at the beginning it was a slow pace and just about the middle it catches up to be a page turner. The romance at the beginning pulls me along by force to finish of what might happen next. This is my first book I have read of Irene Hannon and in the future I will be reading others by her.

Deadly Pursuit begins with a phone call from a heavy breather and the suspense climbs from there.
Alison Taylor is a social worker devoted to protecting children. Soon she becomes the one who needs protection as her life becomes endangered.
Her detective brother, Cole Taylor, and his new partner, Mitch Morgan, come to her rescue.
Mitch is an ex-Navy SEAL who has no intention of falling in love, but Alison captures his heart.

Deadly Pursuit is second out of a trilogy. I was really excited to have a book primarily about a woman instead of a man.

That being said, Alison Taylor is an excellent female lead. Ms. Hannon had me hurting for Alison since we were introduced to her in Fatal Judgement. A year ago, Alison was in a nasty car-wreck leaving her behind with many injuries including a few that wouldn't heal. Something I adored about her was that she didn't let that stop her. She moved on.
