If you love sweet contemporary romances, you will really enjoy this book. The romance is very sweet, but tends to take a backseat to work and family drama.

I enjoyed the insider Hollywood view of Athena's screen-writing team. I also sympathized with Athena feeling like the men on her team weren't listening to her ideas in meetings. I felt her frustration at feeling like she wasn't being heard, and it was told in a non-whiny, realistic way.

Since there's a super cute dog on the cover, I wa
Having enjoyed the first book in Janice Thompson's Backstage Pass series I was anxious to read this one. I must say I think this book just might be better than the first one, with returning characters from the first book as well as a few new ones, I found this book to be laugh out loud funny.
Athena Pappas has a pretty full life with her family and friends and even though the ratings have lagged a bit she still feels pretty secure in her job as head writer for the popular sit com Stars Collide. B
Athena Pappas is the lead writer for the television show, Stars Collide. Athena’s two friends and fellow writers for the show are Paul and Bob. This season for Stars Collide is a very important one. This is why Athena’s boss, Rex informs them that the network is bringing in another writer to help.

Athena, Paul and Bob come up with the idea of having the two main stars of the show become pregnant. They decide that they will have Athena pretend to be pregnant and Paul and Bob will sing she is havin

There's just something about stories featuring big, close knit families that I love. Janice Thompson's Weddings by Bella series with the Italian Rossi clan was one of my favorites and I missed the chaos and fun of the series when it ended. I'm happy to say that if you liked that series as much as I did the second book in her new series, Backstage Pass brings back that same atmosphere of family and yummy food as her previous series. This time the family is Greek and quite possibly even m

Oh my, what a book, it was so cute, I kept thinking it should be called My Big Greek Family! Athena, head writer for the popular sitcom Stars Collide, which stars her best friend Kat (we met her in book one in this series Stars Collide). Athena is worried she is loosing her edge as a comedy writer, and things are just a bit strange with her other two writers, she isn't sure what is going on with them. However the introduction of a new writer turns Athena's world upside down. Literally! She is st ...more

HELLO HOLLYWOOD, the second in the Backstage Pass series, follows closely in the footsteps of STARS COLLIDE. A quirky, winsome, and entertaining read.

Hello, Hollywood by Janice Thompson is the second book in the Backstage Pass series about the people working on a sitcom called Stars Collide. In this novel Athena Pappas is comfortable as the headwriter for the show, enjoying her rich life with her Greek family, helping out at her family's restaurant, and her friendship with Kat, the female lead of the show. But when the show's producer hires a new writer, Athena is sure that her job is on the line. She's even more shaken up when the new guy, S ...more

A wonderful and quirky Greek family, a trouble-maker dog, a home-hungry preteen, and two struggling hearts make up the well-rounded and just plain fun cast of Hello, Hollywood! Not to mention the return of some of the sweet and unique characters that readers were introduced to in Stars Collide, the first book in this "Backstage Pass" series. Janice Thompson has a flair for creating interesting characters.

The plot is as sweet as baklava with a great message about trusting God with control of our
I’m definitely a Janice Thompson fan—her Weddings by Bella series was great and I enjoyed each and every book. I even read and reviewed her first Backstage Pass book, Stars Collide, and enjoyed that one. Unfortunately, I wasn’t as enamored with her latest book in the Backstage Pass series, Hello Hollywood! (sorry Ms Thompson!).

Although I enjoyed the scenes where the writers brainstormed and the antics that went with it, so many of the ideas came from the old Dick Van Dyke (which I still watch!)
I love a good escape into a fun story. Sometimes in life we just need a really good escape and “Hello Hollywood”…I am SO there!

The second novel in the “Backstage Pass” series is a complete package winner. I felt a bit like I was living on a “Dick Van Dyke” set and it was so fun. There was a bit of writer’s humor which I couldn’t help chuckling at, and Janice Thompson writes situational comedy so well.

I first got to know Athena in the first novel, “Stars Collide” and I was so thrilled to read he

Ever wondered what it’s like to be a Hollywood sitcom writer? In this second book of Janice Thompson‘s Backstage Pass series we meet Athena Pappas, head writer of the wildly popular Stars Collide sitcom. What she can’t figure out is why, when the show has won major awards, the manager has hired a new writer for the team. Doesn’t the current team’s record stand for itself? When Athena learns that the new writer is a famous Vegas comedian, Stephen Cosse, she begins to fear for her job.

My Thoughts

I didn’t read the first book in this series, and I understand this one continues where Book One ended, but I did enjoy this anyway. The author gives the reader a fun story about Athena and her job as head script writer for a most popular sitcom. Her crazy fun-loving world is challenged when another writer is added to the team, and she’s just not sure about it all.

I really did enjoy getting to know what goes on backstage as well as all that goes on in creating a TV show. It makes watch
Holly (2 Kids and Tired)
Athena may be the head writer of a popular television show and her best friend a famous actress, but she still lives at home with her loud, loving Greek family and sleeps on Strawberry Shortcake sheets. When a new writer is brought in to help improve the show's ratings, Athena feels threatened. When she finds herself falling for Stephen, the creativity she is able to bring to her writing fails her and she uncertain of her future.

Second in the Backstage Pass series, this is just another fun book

First, I must say that I love Janice’s comical books! They are great stress relievers, which I believe we all need at one time or another.

Okay, so let’s get started with this book. Atheana Pappas is such a great down to earth gal with a job as a comedy writer for a show called Stars Collide. When the producer brings in another writer, a rising star comedian, it upsets the fruit basket- so to speak- of this writi
This story made me smile from the halfway point to the end. It was a bit slow in building for me even with the dreamy Adonis (AKA Stephen) introduced in the beginning. What really touched my heart was Stephen's story and his love for his daughter. Her desire for a family was downright heart-warming. And the chemistry between Athena and Stephen Their first kiss was a real heart-stopper...or make that a pulse-pounder. I loved how she was so into the moment, but then would drift into scr ...more

Pretty much everything that I said for Stars Collide, the first in the Backstage Pass Series is still true in considering Hello Hollywood our new second in the series. My journey with books by Janice Thompson started in Contemporary Romantic Comedy, went to Historical Romance and even dipped into Young Adult Fiction. When I found myself with another opportunity to jump into a new Contemporary Romantic Comedy series I knew that I would be with pure delight during this read and I was not mistaken. ...more

Comedic timing is an art form, and Janice Thompson is a master. Her romantic comedies keep getting better and better. I laughed all the way through Hello, Hollywood! The story is reminiscent of the old Hollywood sitcoms – the days of I Love Lucy and Dick Van Dyke. If you like to laugh—and who doesn't?—treat yourself to a rollicking good read. Novel Rocket and I give it 5 stars. A must read!
I went into this book knowing it was going to be cheesy and too lovey dovey, because I've read books by this author before. It's basically a hallmark movie, in a book, with a touch of Christianity.
And I was hoping that this was going to be a light, funny, sweet, and cute read that isn't too heavy. But I don't know what's up with Janice Thompson, but this book just didn't make it!
It was okay, but that's all. Nothing flowed right... It was all too, plotted out (funny, the book is about writer
Athena Pappas is the head writer for the popular Stars Collide sitcom. When the producers bring in comedian Stephen Cosse to help boost the show's ratings, Athena feels threatened. Sparks fly immediately between Stephen and Athena, especially when her large Greek family is added into the mix. Will the two learn that it's better to write romances for their characters than their own lives?

I have read the others in the Backstage Pass series and loved them. This one was no exception. This is book 2,

The novel features a unexpected love. It didn't really appeal to me to be in love with someone you hate. But I guess if you're meant to be then you can love your own rival. Finding love from another family is also an amazing part of this novel. I don't know if Greek families are that loving but in this story, they are and I can feel love just by reading.

This book made me so incredible hungry for Greek food! I really enjoyed the story line though. What a family! This was another fun read, again sparking my heart when necessary and reminding me how and why I fell in love with my own husband. Several things pinged my heart and brought me to tears as I realized that I was just as guilty as Athena was of trying to write my own script for my life with the help of a loving Heavenly Father. Another great read from Janice Thompson, teaching gospel truth ...more
The second title in the Backstage Pass series gives us a glimpse into the lives of comedy scriptwriters for a hugely popular television sitcom, “Stars Collide.” It focuses on Athena Pappas, the head writer, and her reaction when the producer adds a new writer to the team to improve the show’s recently lower ratings. Watching Athena interact with Stephen Cosse, a comedian from Las Vegas, is an adventure, as is the life she leads with her rollicking, extended Greek family. Opposites attract in thi ...more

I loved all of the tidbits I learned about Greek culture in this heartwarming book. Janice weaves a captive story where family ties, the love residing in big families, and the simpler things in life drew me right in and kept me turning the pages. The glimpses into the Golden Age of Hollywood provided a welcome journey down memory lane when sitcoms could be watched by the whole family. Well done!
Janice Thompson is easily among my favorite authors, and books like "Hello, Hollywood!" are the reason why. A fun cast of characters, some surprising plot twists, and plenty of romance and humor make this quite enjoyable reading. If you're looking for a lighthearted, cute, lovey-dovey read, this is for you.

I would say that this is only a 2.7/5. The romance takes a backseat to the main character's insecurities. The plot line has too many things going on: a dog, daughter, pregnancy, HBO special, God, greek culture...

I just think they should have toned down the outside action a little and spiced up the romance.

The moment the Dick Van Dyke show was mentioned in this book I knew it was going to be good, and I was right! This book was like having a free backstage pass to your favorite sit com! I loved it! If you want a book that will give you an escape with humor and romance this is it!
Sparkling,adorable,quirky, and fun.
