The book was okay. It was very informative, but it's a very "dry read".

More than half of the book consisted of literally reading a timeline.

Not really a book, but mostly a timeline of African American history. It listed and dated events like the originations of slavery, Civil War, and the Civil Rights movement. Very easy to follow and included some milestones in popular culture as well. I do wish the second part included more complete writings and speeches.

Not a narrative, but a highly detailed and timeline, supplemented by select historical writings and illustrations, highlighting the role of Africans and African-Americans in world and U.S. history. A very different way to read to history, this book continually shook up what I thought I knew of history, especially American history.

A good part of this book is a chronological list of events/eras. I'm setting it aside to read when I have the patience to wade through it. It looks like there's a lot of interesting information it, but the format is really dry...

The beginning includes a wonderful timeline of history that is so interesting to consider - for example how early slave trading began in Europe - 50BC slaves from Belgium and France were traded for wine in Italy.

This was another free Nook download that looked interesting. However, it's not really a book; the first half is a detailed time line and the second half is a collection of speeches and essays related to black emancipation in the US. A useful reference source but rather a dry read, and very short.

This was interesting and provided a nice timeline of some of the struggles and key events from very, very early times. It was a little tough to read with the way it was presented, but didn't take away from what was presented. It was really insightful.

I couldn't finish it to be honest... all it is a loooooong timeline that is mildly interesting at first, but gets boring. and FAST
