Revenge at Bella Terra is a fast paced romantic suspense novel, the second in a series. I love the fact that Ms. Dodd has incorporated two tried and true romance concepts- secret baby and marriage of convenience-into a book you cannot put down. Eli DiLuca is in between a rock and a hard place when it comes to his family winery. He needs 4.5 million dollars and if he marries Chloe Robinson, her father, Tomasso Conti, will give it to him.[return]In the typical forced marriage novel, the heroine is...more
Revenge at Bella Terra by Christina Dodd
Chole is going to California to stay at Eli Di Luca's house to finish her second mystery novel. Her father has offered money for Eli to save his vineyard if he will marry her and produce a grandchild; Chole does not know Eli is the one this time that her father chose because this is not the first time her father has done this. She is driving from Austin, Texas to the Santa Rosa area where her father, Conte, has arranged a place for her to finish her book a...more

This is the second book in the series. I liked the twists that have emerged in this story line. The book flows at a fast pace keeping your interest. The 3rd book Betrayal at Bella Terra is due out April 3, 2012.

That Christina Dodd. Even when there are several tropes that I usually hate in a book, her writing weaves it all together in a way that makes me read the whole darn book.
Chloe Robinson is an award-winning mystery novelist. Her first book won accolades aplenty. But now she's suffering from the sophomore slump. Or writer's block. Whatever you want to call it. So her father has found her a place where the atmosphere and quiet should help her get going. Or maybe he's setting her up. Chloe isn't sure...more

I rate this at 4 1/2 out of 5. I thought the mystery twist of why the famous bottle of wine was so desirous was a stroke of genius. It made this book stand out from the first in the series but still be part of the series. I loved the relationship between Eli and Chloe. Eli needed money and was propositioned by Chloe's father, a old school Italian, to marry Chloe in return for the funds to get the winery out of trouble with the IRS. A situation that was created by the accountant smuggling funds a...more
This book is where Secrets of Bella Terra was leading us (and it's not quite over). Where Rafe was pretty much a Hollywood kid who got tired of living in the spotlight of his parents, Eli was a truly tortured kid. With a volatile mother and a throw-away father, Eli has allowed himself only to love his grandmother, his brothers and his precious vines. Due to an error in judgement, Eli now has to compromise everything to save Bella Terra. He has to seduce and marry the daughert of a very rich man;...more
When Eli's accountant runs off with the winery's funds, he faces bankrupsy and, worse of all, the disappointment of his family. He gets an offer from a rich Italian guy: marry the man's 23 y/o American daugher and all debts will be paid off. Facing preasure from the IRS Eli agrees to this bargain. When he meets writer Chloe he realizes this woman could be his life mate in every way. It's not until they face deathly threads that he finaly wakes up to the fact that he's found the love of his life....more

After a backstabbing accountant disappeared with his money, Eli Di Luca is left with limited options and even less time to save his family vineyards from the IRS. His pride won’t let him go to his family for help, but he’s considering an outrageous offer from a rich Italian businessman – marry his daughter without her knowing about their deal and his debts will be paid in full. Chloe is young, American and far from a fool. Her father’s been trying to buy her a husband for years so when she hits...more
New series from Dodd set in the present and no supernatural overtones. Hoo-yah!
Set on a California vineyard, the series will revolve around three brothers — same dad, different moms, and deep issues — a bottle of wine and pink diamonds.
Eli Di Luca runs the family winery, but has gotten in a financial bind. Along comes an Italian who offers to pay off his multimillion dollar debt if Eli marries his illegitimate daughter, Chloe Robinson, whose debut book turned into an award-winning murder mystery...more

The heroine, Chloe, was engaging. And I enjoyed the description of her hair. Dyed white blonde with two small slashes of bold red in the front, cut short, and puffed around her face so that she resembled a dandelion. Very original. The hero...not so much. Yeah, yeah, I get that Eli was a tortured soul. But I couldn't quite buy the fact that he's been scarred for life, until Chloe comes along and "saves" him in, like, 48 hours. (That's about how long it took them to fall in love.) And after talki...more

The Di Luca family is never without excitement. Eli Di Luca, the wine expert in the family has been keeping a secret from the rest of his family. The vineyard is struggling. His accountant fled town and left behind a trail of stolen money and debts to the IRS that if not repaid soon will shut down his business. Except he doesn't have the money to pay it back and doesn't want to ask his family for anything and let them know about the issues he had.

This was book 2 in the series and it continued where we left off at Secrets at Bella Terra. All those in the De Luca family that we've come to love returned with a few additional members of their extended families. This was romantic suspense that had me on the edge of my seat more than once. So many unexpected twists and turns along with violence, murder and deception kept me hooked. There was love, romance and renewed connections before reaching several happily ever afters. I'm happy to say the...more
This was an interesting contemporary romance surrounding a family owned winery and hotel near Napa valley. Had a story line of the main character struggling to move forward in her career overseeing the hotel while the eldest son of the family that owned the place returns home. Her first love, she fell for him hard as a teenager only to have her heart broken and now with problems with the family business he re-enters her life again. The sparks are flying and there is some suspense too with someon...more
Wow....how have I never ready any of this author's books until now?! This book absolutely pulled me in from the first pages and I hated to put it down to go to work or sleep. This story combined two of my favorite genres...romance and mystery. This book is part of a series, so I am definitely going to have to go back and read the first one before going forward...but the story definitely stood on it's own. This book had great character development, great interactions, vivid descriptions and an am...more

A 96-100 points extraordinary story. I'm using this scale because of all the great mouth watering wine Christina Dodd made me crave throughout the story. Yes, I had to have Cabernet, cheese, crackers, and grapes. It was nearly impossible to put down.
The characters come alive ... the Di Luca family sense of "one for all and all for one", totally draws the reader into the story. Then, Eli with his dark past-- oh my, poor guy. And Chloe such a clever young woman. The skull and the red candles props...more

Another go to author falls flat. The first book in this series was just ok, so I only picked this up because I usually like Dodd. What a huge disappointment. Where to start? So the accountant has run off with all the money & Eli's the only one who knows. Because this big award winning winery business of his only has one person doing the accounting? I work in an office with 25 employees; four of them work in the accounting area. And he won't tell either the police, the FBI or his family, but...more
2nd book just as good as book 1. Might even be better! Eli makes a contract with Conte to marry his daughter and he will in turn pay his debts, since his accountant took off with the money.. But still someone is after the bottle of wine that Massimo had given Anthony Di Luca way back when.. They find out another piece to the puzzle and realize that pink diamonds might be added into the mix now as well when they found Massimo's body in Eli's still.
"Eli Di Luca lives in Bella Terra, but now the family vineyard he runs is in financial trouble. Enter Italian magnate Tamosso Conte, who makes a proposition Eli can't refuse: marry his daughter, and Conte will solve Eli's money problems.
Unfortunately, the beautiful Chloe has no intention of getting married without a fight. Soon she discovers Eli's been keeping secrets from her, and the truth will put them both in mortal danger. "

I liked this one better than the first in the series-Secrets at Bella Terra. It has a good mystery and pacing. I liked the couple in this one. Although they seemed an unlikely pair. I was concerned at first because he seemed to be interested more in the deal he made with her father but as he got to know Chloe he fell in love. The ending gave us just enough hint of the next to make me wish it was going to be published this year.
Wow i love ms. Dodd's writing skills as she keeps me thrilled and entertained for the whole of her books with twists turns, heartaches and male stupidity (not to mention female forgiveness for said stupidity)... but i gotta say i really really REALLY hate her ability to write a cliffhanger so steep that one step off the edge will leave you plummeting into the darkest canyon imaginable while waiting for the nest book in the series... UGH! April really? i cant wait that long!
This was a fun read. The close-mouthed, controlled hero has to finally let go. I enjoyed how the mystery continued. The various suspects kept me waiting till the end to see who was the villian but even then, the mystery continued to the next book. I continue to love Sarah and the relationship of her grandsons with each other and her.
I always enjoy Dodd's novels. Her characters are smart, funny and complex. Eli DiLuca and Chloe Robinson are no exception. It was nice to read a book that really focused on the relationship between the two main characters while still moving the Bella Terra mystery story forward. I am anxious to read the third novel to see if the missing bottle of wine is finally found and to see who will capture the heart of the youngest DiLuca brother.
Great story of man wooing woman for all the wrong reasons. Throw in some wine and an exciting mystery and this is a great read! A wonderful combination of mystery, love, and sexiness, can't go wrong with that. My only problem is that the conclusion of this trilogy isn't out for six months. Patience is not a virtue I have.
So this was really enjoyable. I was a little weirded out by the set up from the first book, but it played out well... except I laughed out loud when Eli proposed. There was enough mystery to make me wonder what will happen next and keep me reading. Chloe was a fun girl and easy to root for... I liked her better than Brooke from book 1. Eli was a massive alpha-male, with a communication problem and I-cannot-love syndrome... my favorite kind of hero! I am looking forward to Noah's book.
I read this book out of order (I hate it when I do that) so 3 stars from me is really pretty good since I often felt a bit lost for parts of the book altho it mostly stood on its own. I also did not really conect with the male character and questioned his complete emotional about-face with the heroine. I will bother to check out the first book in this series tho.

Readers become writers, and Christina Dodd has always been a reader. As she was growing up, she read everything, but discovered, because she likes humor, that she liked romance best. In romance, the relationship between one man and one woman holds center stage, and that’s always good for a laugh.
