Football Genius
I read the novel Football Genius by Tim Green. The story takes place around Troy White’s house and the Atlanta Falcon’s football stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. The main character in the book is Troy. Troy is an ordinary 12 year old boy except when it comes to his special talent. He can predict plays before they happen on the football field. Even with this talent he still sits the bench for his pee wee team the Duluth Tigers. He is the backup quarterback right behind the coach’s son,...more

I really enjoyed this book because it is a sports book and it really interests me. Especially because there is a kid in it named Troy that is my age and he is a "football genius." He becomes the coach of an NFL team called the Atlanta Falcons. He isnt the head coach, but he tells the head coach what to do and he listens to the kid. The team improves with Troy being a part of the team, but the fans would rather have a legit coach than some teenage kid so they are dissapointed in the team as a who...more

But she was about to get fired, so Nate try to become friends with the head coach so he wouldn't fired his mom. But while he did that he also try to become a coach or asistant coach because he think he's football genius.

My friend recommended this book to me. This story takes place in Atlanta, Georgia. It mostly takes place at the super dome or the main characters house, Troy. A external conflict that he faces is that the Atlanta Falcons don't notice his talent. A internal conflict he faces is he has to debate to himself whether he should do something against his mom saying or not. Sometimes it is the right decision sometimes it is not. He is dynamic because he is more brave and get his talents noticed by the Fa...more

The book "Football Genius" is about a 12 year old kid named Troy White who lives in Atlanta, GA with his mom. His dad left him when he was little and moved to Chicago, IL. Troy was the back-up QB of his middle school football team, the Duluth Tigers. Troy was not playing as much as he wanted to because the dad of the starting quarterback was the head coach. Troy can predict any football play that is going to happen. He can see a bunch of patterns and determine what the opposing team will do the...more

I choose the book Football Genius because, my brother had read it and told me he had really enjoyed it. The setting takes place at Troys' house, and at the Georgia dome in Atlanta Georgia. When Seth and Troy are watching games on TV its mostly at Troys' house, but when Troy is calling the plays and reading the other teams plays its at the Georgia Dome. Troy is facing a major problem. His problem is that he has a power and he can predict any play that is coming next, but how is he going to get th...more

I currently just finished reading this book, it was amazing. The whole plot in this book helped me alot.Troy and his mother, Tessa, live off Rt. 141 down a twisty dirt road in Atlanta, Georgia. Troy and his friends, Tate and Nathan, play junior league football for the Duluth Tigers and get together to trade football cards. When his mom finishes her degree through night school and gets a new job in the public relations department of the Atlanta Falcons, Troy is elated. He trades cards until he ha...more

“Football Genius” by Tim Green is probably one of my favorite books of all time. I found this book in my school llibrary three weeks ago. The book is so descriptive that it makes you feel like you are in the story.

The book starts off with Troy White a twelve year old quarterback for a pee wee football team in Atlanta called the Duluth Tigers. He is second string behind the coach’s son Jaime Renfro, who is nowhere near as good as Troy. Troy also has an amazing talent, to be able to read any footb...more

My opinion of the Football Genius was that it was interesting and enjoyable because it was sort of fun to read and enjoyable to the point where its not boring. Especially when Troy got his big chance with the Falcons head coach. This story reminds me of the movie Remember the Titans. The reason this book makes me think of Remember the Titans is because the movie had to do with football and at the end of the movie there was a really close game. I can relate to the character Troy in this story bec...more

I really liked this book I gave it a 4 out of 5 because it was different then any other football books I have read. Football Genius is about a kid named troy who can predict any play before it even happens witch was huge. He was hired by a football team to help them out of defense he needed a few plays to figure out their game plan but after he figures it out it's game on from there. This book focuses more on Troy's personal life and his friend’s not just football.

What I liked about this book wa...more

I'm not one to watch football, so frankly I was becoming bored with reading all the football terms and gameplay description going on. However, because I wanted to finish this book, i decided to overlook all that and focus more on the story. To my surprise, the story turned out a lot better than I thought it would.

I admired the courage and perseverance Troy had -- along with the yearning to make something out of himself and his situation. And with the support of his friends, Tate and Nathan, it m...more

Do you like a book that holds your attention and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Well, the book I am reviewing is called Football Genius. The author of the book is Tim Green. The book was published in 2009. The theme of the book is to follow your dreams, and to not listen to the haters. The main characters of the book are Troy, his mom, Seth, Tate, and Nathan.

Gr 5-8-This novel has much to recommend it. Troy White is a typical 12-year-old in many ways, dividing his time between school, organized sports, and friends. He has one special talent, though: when he watches football on television, he subconsciously computes team statistics, players, and other variables, and he can call the plays before they happen. What could be a nice parlor trick takes on new significance when his single mother gets a job with the Atlanta Falcons' public relations departmen...more

Recommends it for: people who is really into football and suspense
Troy White has a very special gift. He can read football plays before they happen. When his mom got a job with the Atlanta Falcons, he realized that it was his time to work his magic and help the Falcons boost up from their very big slump. When his mom took him to the Falcon's game, he tried to tell the coaches what plays their opponent was going to do. Nobody believed him. the coaches were so distracted of him that they couldn't focus on the game. The game ended with a loss for the Atlanta Falc...more

A good book for the 3-6 grade football fan. Green tells a good story about Troy, whose father left when he was little and who has a "gift" of being able to read the upcoming plays of any team, his league or the NFL. He is under appreciated and his arch rival (and textbook bully) seems to have it all, a father, the quarterback slot (even though Troy is much better) and money to get what he wants. When Troy's mom gets a job with the Atlanta Falcons, Troy's life changes though not always for the be...more

Some children's novels are so good and multilayered that adults can enjoy them as literature. "Football Genius" isn't one of those. It's predictable, unrealistic and has a simple plot.

BUT...
What "Football Genius" is, however, is a very good book for elementary kids. There isn't a lot of depth here, no 'grappling with timely issues', no huge revelation or coming of age. And that's okay! "Football Genius" is an easy-to-understand, moral, fairly exciting (on a youth level) novel for children.

The book I'm reading Football Genius by Tim Green is a great book. I read pages 43-59.Troy's mom got a job as one of the managers with the Atlanta Falcons. When troy went to the football game with his mom they got V.I.P. pass because she works there.Troy had to stay behind a yellow line behind the benches where the football players sat.Troy kept on going across the yellow line and his mom got fired because troy didn't listen to the rules of the section he was at.Troy over heard his mom on the ph...more

Football Genius, by Tim Green is about the main character, a boy named Troy White, his mom, and a famous star linebacker Seth Halloway. I thoroughly enjoyed Football Genius. It took a few chapters to establish the pace and then it really took off. It is an excellent independent read choice for someone who is interested in (or crazy about) football.

Troy White is a sixth grade boy who plays second string quarterback on his football team. The coach’s son is the starting quarterback even though Troy has greater talent. Troy has an amazing ability to read the patterns in a football game and know which plays will happen next. This tal...more

Rocket Boys is the story of 5 boys who instead of wanting to go into the coal mining buisness like everyone else in the town decide to make rockets and end up going to the science fair because their teacher convinces them to. I really did NOT want to read this book I was sure was the biggest piece of crap since I read tom sawyer (really didn’t like it) but then I decided give it a chance and found I related to the book quite well. I first decided this when Sonny, the main character and author,...more

Troy White may seem like any ordinary 12-year-old. He listens to his mom, doesn't steal or sneak out (well, maybe just once) and he's a pretty good athlete. Troy and his mother have each other to survive; they aren't rich or poor but are happy together.

But the one thing that separates Troy from every other 12-year-old is his ability to predict what could happen next. He can't predict what he might get on his next exam at schoo...more

I chose the book Football Genius for a couple of reasons: First was my dad had saw it on a site for book ratings. Second was I thought it looked like an easy read. I don’t really enjoy reading books that are too strenuous to read. This story takes place in the great city of Atlanta Georgia. For most of the book the main character, Troy, is at home. A small 1 story house with a tire swing in the back yard is what troy calls home. His “home away from home” is the football field where troy plays qu...more

Have you ever been in the NFL? In this realistic fiction book a boy and his friends tried to steal a football from a famous NFL player. My opinion for this book is cool and good.

In the book a boy named Troy who lived in Atlanta tried to steal an Atlanta Falcon ball from the famous Seth Halloway. ** Spoiler Alert ** Troy wanted to get the Atlanta Falcon's ball but couldn't go during the day so later on in the book Troy and his friends Tate and Nathan go with him then his mom finds out he stole th...more
