This book really and truly disappointed me. I am not one for organized religion, but I have always enjoyed watching Joel Osteen's sermons on television. I wanted to read this book because I think he has a good message and I felt I would get something valuable out of the book.
Although I find Mr. Osteen a brilliant preacher, his writing skills are not. The whole book seemed very repeative to me, with short and choppy sentences. The material did not flow nicely and I had a hard time staying foc...more

I was inspired by many messages in this book. I listened to the audio version to and from work. The actual author is the one speaking in the audio. It's great. He says, "instead of focusing on weaknesses and faults, you can learn to speak to yourself in more positive ways." This was very sound advice EVERY day considering the difficult relationship I have with a co-worker!

I read a chapter today in a Wal-Mart. It seems to me that this guy is not building Christian community. He's not even talking about it. And, he's not talking about how to become a saint. Or a missionary. Or about how to change the world. Or be radical.
He may, however, be getting the Word of the Lord to people. "Don't listen to the accusing voice in your head. That's not the Lord. It's the Enemy." "You're lovable." "God wants you to succeed in the things you are trying ...more

While I'm not really all about organized religion, I still think this book had a pretty good overall message. It was positive and inspirational, however there was a very heavy Christian tone - as Joel Osteen is a preacher so it's kind of a given. So if you're unfamiliar with who exactly he is, be ready for that if you read the book. If you take this book for what it's worth, I think many will enjoy it - especially if you're in need of a little positive light in your life. I only gave it 3 st...more

Whether you are a particularly religious person or not, I think this is a great book. There are a lot of "God" references (obviously, since he's a pastor) but I don't feel like it's overwhelming or makes you feel bad about yourself or your beliefs, like I feel some religious books/authors can be. It can be repetative at parts, but it has a really positive message and is very inspirational. I listened to his first book on tape and thought that the two books were very similar, and I thin...more

This book is pretty encouraging. It is filled with a 'generic Christianity' perspective so you can read it even if you are agnostic (you won't find many scripture references here, folks).
Osteen uses vignettes to illustrate his points. I agree with his perspective that people who consider themselves children of God should feel like royalty. Who wants to be the 'Daughter of the King' with no perks, anyway? This book is good for people feeling a little down and needing a quick pick-me-up.

Joel Osteen is one of the most positive people you could encounter - I saw him on 20/20 one night and decided to see what he was all about. This book is inspirational in terms of suggesting looking at the good things in life and allowing them to overcome the negative. Overall very good, but there are some passages which I think he is a little too positive like saying that if you think positively you can overcome diabetes - that is a little overboard for me.

Usually Southern evangelical preachers, especially ones on TV, turn me off. However, I love Joel Osteen and find him genuine. The message of this book is simple, reassuring. Some people think he is saying that God will give you stuff if you're good enough, but I think his message is the same as the law of attraction or the popular The Secret. His advice is simple but extremely difficult to carry out on a consistent basis.

An inspring book about getting the most out of life while living godly. Unfortunately, there's a lot of repitition, as if he needed to pad out the length to a certain word count. A lot of this could have been condensed into a book half the size. Still, the personal storie and annecdotes are pretty good (save for one that made no sense in what he was trying to link it to) and the basic principles are sound.

Unfortunately a disappointment to me. I really like Joel Osteen and I just loved "Your Best Life Now' so i looked so forward to this one. It seemed to cover a lot of the same topics over again and not really anything that different than in the first book. I would recommend it if you didn't read "Your Best Life Now" but if you have a choice between the too I would highly recommend the first one.

With this much positive energy pulsing through his veins, Joel must be on top of the world!
VERY inspiring and spiritual all at the same time. Beautifully written, while incorporating humor and down to earth, relatable stories.

I really like Joel Osteen. Even though some of his stuff is repetitive from his previous book, I feel Osteen is a genuine guy who really is trying to minister to his readers. His tips on being a better person, if applied, will no doubt improve many aspects of your life: from marriage, to raising kids, to breaking free from addictions...etc.

This is a religious based book, but it is written in a much different way than you would expect. Joel Osteen is an amazing speaker and author. His principles lift you up no matter what yhttp://lunar.gsfc.nasa.gov/#ou... situation. His prose is charismatic and uplifting. I would recommend this book to everyone who needs a new perspective.

This was the best motivational book I would suggest to any religous person. All I can say is that I was awestruck. Many of the doubts that I had about my religion were discussed here. He brought up topics for me to discuss with my wife and my friends. I highly recommend this book to anybody with faith.

He is such a great motivator and always makes me feel better. He's a religious author I would recommend, because he is always positive, has great applicable advice anyone can use to find happiness and success, and wouldn't dream of preaching to anyone that they are going to Hell!

I absolutely loved this book! It's very inspirational while being religious at the same time. There are things in it that are the same views as in The Secret. I will read this book over and over as a way to keep myself inspired, focused and feeling wonderful!

This was one of those inspirational good books. It inspires you to be better and actually gives some practical guidance on how to do it. As with all of these books, its good to read them once in a while to remind yourself of what all you could/should do.

With his tenuous grasp on SCripture, it is hard to believe this guy's father was a preacher. In any event, it is pretty harmless, but it doesn't leave you all that fired up or feeling as if your spiritual needs or questions were well met.
