Watanuki no longer leaves the wish-granting shop he inherited from the witch Yûko. What’s more, he must help everyone who walks through its doors—even the monster that ate his eye! How can the still-inexperienced Watanuki handle what can only be called one dangerous customer?

xxxHOLiC crosses over with Tsubasa, also by CLAMP. Don’t mi

Today's post is on XXXholic volume 17 by CLAMP. It is 180 pages long and is published by Del Rey. As it is the seventeenth in the series you need to have read the first sixteen to understand the story. The cover has Watanuki on it with a butterfly cooling very mysterious. The intended reader is someone who likes Japanese mythology, fantasy, and beautiful but sad stories. There is no sex, no language, and no violence in this book. The story is told from Watanuki's perspective. There Be Spoilers A ...more

I really do miss the old Watanuki.... though he's a little bit sexier these days. And speaking of sexy.... is it weird I find Haruka-san sexy? XD I think Domeki-kun is cute... but his grandpa... hubba hubba!! XD They are essentially twins... it's always weird how even when you have two people who look exactly alike, there always seems to be one that is a little bit hotter than the other :-p In this case, definitely Haruka-san.

This volume had Ranma 1/2 sydrome... just seemed like a bunch of litt
In this volume Watanuki has settled into his new role at the wish-granting shop, and while a quieter volume in many aspects, we learn quite a bit about the emotions of the characters with the change of circumstances they all find themselves facing. I am intrigued to learn what will happen next. As per CLAMP, the art is absolutely beautiful. I've really come to love their style. Next volume, please.

(And in case any of my friends the Japanese translation, the 'xxx' in the title of the
This volume was so good! It sneaks up on you too, like some ocean swell. I personally enjoyed the Mermaid Saga reference. I had forgotten that Clamp had written that too! I thought, ‘Boy! That's a popular myth of mermaids! I've heard that in other places too!'
Okay, they totally did not write it. But they are similar, which could suggest actual folklore. I should totally research the different folklores of mermaids from around the world. That would be so much fun! I guess that should also say som

Me gusto demasiado! un final que sinceramente no me esperaba para nada. Me dejo en shock OwO
Until the last couple of volumes this had been my preferred read when it came to CLAMP's more recent work. But, the last volume and a half have felt like filler. It isn't the feeling of impending doom that seems to hovering over Watanuki and Domeki. Before Yuko's disappearance the small stories that involved visitors to her shop, and what happened to her customers, are what kept this series interesting. Now we seem entrenched in a longer story arc, but one that went nowhere in this volume.
AHHH!! I don't know why. but you all must be feeling the same with me about Watanuki. It feel sad. and gloomy.
Domeki must to decided his choice. Himawari must to wait until 1st April to came to the 'store' and meet Watanuki. all of them is make me sad and feeling weird. and I think this serial from clamp will make me scream again--like the others--because, well, it is, clamp. you know that.
Wonderful. I just love this manga. It isn't all that exciting, there are no big fights or anything like that, it's more of a string of emotions, an atmospheric piece, it feels so quiet and intimate, taking place in Yuko's shop, with just a handful of characters. I adore the friendship between Watanuki and Domeki. The last part of this volume, Watanuki's birthday gift to Domeki, was amazing!

I had been away from this series for a while, but it is good to come back. This is what happens to the apprentice boy after he is left alone to run the shop. He is not as good as the original Yuko, and I am thinking this will come to a close soon, but it is interesting to follow in the mean time. I like the old clients coming back.
Loved the whole series. Clamp creates beautiful visuals and beautiful writing. A must read series for Clamp, manga, and fantasy fans.

For awhile I felt like this series was being dragged down by tie-ins to Tsubasa and some typical CLAMP tropes, but it seems to finally be settling into a better, although different, storytelling place. It's been awhile since I enjoyed this series so much.
I like the Open ending Clamp has for XXXHolic, maybe it means that they would be a sequel to Holic. But I do have to say that I'm really left with a lot of questions. But anyway likes most Clamp Project it was a great manga.
I'm liking the turn of the plot line more. Definitely more action in this volume. I love the peach wood ring/ward that Watanuki gives to Domeki. Very cool. And so good to hear from Hamawari too. Really enjoy this series.
I thought that it was a great volume. However this volume had a character that I really despised. I marvelled at the way Kimihiro dealt the person. So far I am truly enjoying this series.
Dec 2013 - Interesting turn of events.
