Oh Sweet Heaven, I Love the Horses~

This is a Love story about Philip and his Haven

It's quite enjoyable~

Philip and Haven seemed to be made for each other, I fell in love with Phillip in book 1 and Haven in book 2...I found it easy to fall in love with them .

I also loved that this book has an air of innocence as well as sprinkles of BDSM and that made for a fantastic read.

They were so freaking adorable...but...I wish their love began in book 1 wit...more

This second book in the Range series is as sweet, wonderful, and emotionally intense as the first. Both main characters are ready for a change in their lives, but not quite sure how to go about it. The internal battles they fight are set against the background of two hostile ranch families. Phillip has just lost his job, the man he was hoping to hook up with again on his friend Dakota’s ranch is involved with someone else, and the neighbor’s son is far too deep in the closet to hope for more. As Phillip works on trying to find his way in his own life, he finds that he can help Haven figure out how to deal with the fact that he is gay. The bond that begins as friendship soon grows into more, and it makes Phillip seriously reconsider his priorities. Thank God he can be honest with himself – with a little help from Dakota.

Haven is conflicted. Under his homophobic father’s thumb in many respects, he wants a different life, but has no idea how to go about it. He also had no reason to fight for himself and stand up to his father until he runs into Phillip. While he is still afraid of admitting that he is gay, the feelings Phillip awakens in him and being in love for the first time in his life are strong motivators. The increasing attraction between them makes him realize there is more to life than being a selfish rancher’s son. Discovering the truth behind his father’s plans only increases his determination.

I loved that Dakota and Wally from the first book were back and played a major role as supporting characters in this book as well. It made for a real sense of ‘coming home’ to find out how good friends are doing. If you like sweet stories about men who figure out the purpose of their lives, if cowboys and a ranch-setting are your thing, and if you like reading about the simple ‘drama’ of being human, you will probably like this book as much as I did.

I adore the characters in this series. I found them to be real, somewhat quirky, and downright sexy. I'm sad now that I have finally finished the series (I read them out of order, this is not the last book). I guess I'll just have to reread to get my hot cowboy fix.

Between the plot twists and sensual seduction, this one really kept me turning pages!

What an excellent sequel! This story gripped my attention from the first word and didn't let go. I love Haven's charming, introverted personality. So confident in some areas, but tentative in others. The way he learns about himself and his father, forcing inner growth is absolutely amazing.

I enjoyed the second book at bit more than the first since the threat of death wasn't hanging over my head. It seemed like we got to know the characters a bit better. I also enjoyed seeing Dakota and Wally in this one again. They actually played a major role in the story. I didn't care for Haven almost getting beaten to death. The mystery around Haven's dad, both in how he treated Haven and why the neighbors weren't friendly, created a lot of negative energy for the story. I wasn't really happy...more

This was a great follow up to A Shared Range and in it we get a lot more about Kota and Wally as well. Continuing the trend in the first book we get solid characters, interesting locations, and some surprises to the story. I thought this one tore at my heartstrings more. I put a BDSM tag on my shelf because I believe Haven's exploration of his sexuality was centered in some of these components. This smooth and fast paced wonderful story is about a beautiful heartwarming, sweet, and hot romance that develops between Haven and Phillip as they experience true love, friendship, lies and deceit from family members, death, and overcoming hardships of everyday trials. I fell in love with both characters as their emotions came alive throughout the pages.

Haven is a young cowboy who known he has always been different but was to shamed to be his true self because of the rejection he always received from his own father’s ridicule. However when he finds himself attracted to Phillip he decides to act upon his instincts.

Phillip is an accountant, lost his job from the bad economy but finds refuge from life at his two friends Dakota and Wally’s Ranch. Being gay and out of the closet is nothing new to him but when he meets Haven he recognizes the attraction immediately. Though he always dated several guys he never got serious and always looked upon the dates as just a good time and nothing more. Eventually the loneliness crept up on him to the point he was jealous of the happiness all his other gay friends had found. He was ready for something more series and a relationship that would last for a life time and Haven was just the perfect one to change that.

It was very nice to read about Dakota and Wally, characters from the first book in this series “A Shared Range”. The reminder of their personalities just made me fall in love with them all over again with Dakota being the most caring and helping neighbor anyone could ask for and Wally being the best care taker and animal lover on the range.

The ending was very sweet and as I look back on the story there were several lessons or should I say great insight and advice one can learn from this story. Here is a quote I would like to share as an example.

“Being gay isn’t about what you wear or how you act. It’s about who you love.”

To make matters worse some of the townsfolk aren’t too keen on having a bunch of gay cowboys in their midst, and they aren’t shy about sharing their assanine opinion!

To spite his homophobic father’s best intentions to keep them apart, Haven pursues his attraction to another man, to Phillip. The shy, inexperienced, reserved cowboy proves to be quite the challenge for the outrageous and experienced former playboy. But Phillip can’t deny the attraction, the look of want he see’s reflected in Haven’s eyes when he looks at him. But Haven has a little kink, you could say. He wants to be dominated, he wants a lover to take control and take care of him, because no one in his life ever has.

As Phillip teaches Haven how to love and be loved, he learns a lot about himself as well. Their journey is a story of personal growth, self awareness, and being true to oneself no matter the consequence. Haven has a lot of inner demons to contend with though. Growing up with his father’s hatred and then learning his father’s secret after his accidental death are proving to be a challenge. Just when it looks like he’s finding his own way to deal with things, an act of violence threatens to tear him and Phillip apart before they can truly come together.

As always, Grey conveys the emotions of all his characters with realism and rawness. There is just enough action and suspense to keep you enthralled, and the sex is will leave a layer of steam in the air. Definitely a must read!

This is the second book in this great series. I have to say I love these stories set on a range there is something very comforting about the wide open spaces and tough men falling in love. I this one you have 2 men trying to get away from their lives, both for different reasons but the effect is the same. It was a real treat to watch both of the men open up and accept being loved.

I loved this sequel to A Shared Range. Haven was such a sweetie and so innocent at times. It was amazing he turned out as well as he did considering the type of man his father was. I thought Haven was also the perfect partner for Phillip, who longed to settle down and have a serious relationship like his friends had found. I adore Wally too so it was great to see him and Dakota play such a big part of this story. They had some difficult circumstances to get through but Phillip was very supportiv...more

I rethought my scoring and gave this one five stars because it fixed something I felt bad about in the first book. Namely that Dakota had given up medical school to take over the ranch and help his dad. I really liked the solution, which works for everyone.

I enjoyed Phillip in the first story and Haven is truly a treasure. Having to deal with his father all his life but still coming out as a caring, decent human was amazing :)

A very good sequel to

. Andrew Grey is an excellent story teller and draws you in and makes you care. This is a story of how 2 people from such different backgrounds can still fall in love and do everything they can to make the relationship work. There were no characters in this story that would make you feel like there would be another book in the series, but hopefully there will be another.

A Troubled Range focuses on Haven, Dakota’s neighbor. Haven is a young, friendly, slightly troubled and confused cowboy who works for his father. His father is a dominant, scheming and bigoted father. He constantly puts Haven down and has no love for his son. Despite that, Haven stands his own and doesn’t let the family farm go to ruin. His fortune changes when Philip visits his friends Wally and Dakota. There is an instant attraction that is slow to build, something I liked about this story. It’s clear Philip and Haven are attracted to each other, but they don’t just jump straight in.
What is also very likable about this story is the fact that none of the conflicts in this book are obvious or take the obvious route. Yes there is a misunderstanding, but an obvious one. Yes, both characters love each other, but it takes time to realize it.
Have is a very likeable and sweet character. He is touch cowboy on the outside, but a sweet and insecure boy on the inside. In this story he slowly comes into his own when he realizes he is in fact gay (something his father is very against) and that it’s okay to be gay. It’s who he is and not something he can change. He is very caring of the people he loves.
Philip is more world wise and has been around the block a time or two. While he knows what he wants, even if he doesn’t admit it out loud, he’s afraid to get it. It takes a friendly push in the right direction to realize it. It was both nice and interesting to see the role he takes on with Haven. He is both a mentor – slowly guiding Haven – and a lover – and boy do they make hot love!
The writing is good, solid and the author uses the right words to tell the story but not lay it all out there. There is no simple use of words, but the author uses words that fit the scene. It’s clear Andrew Grey knows what he is about.
The story is set mostly on Haven and Dakota’s ranch. It fits the story, but at the same time I would have liked to see beyond that a bit. There is a good description of the land and when the boys go riding it almost feels as if you’re riding right there besides them without giving a three page description. At the same time I would have liked the see the characters step beyond their comfort zone.
All in all this was a very likable, hot and sweet story with tough cowboys and a slick city boy who is good with numbers! A Troubled Range can be read as a stand-alone and is most definitely a story I’d recommend!

This is the first book by the author that i didn't thoroughly enjoy. The issue for me was with one character in particular, Phillip, whom we had met on the previous book. In the previous book he was described as being submissive, and unless am remembering things wrong, it seemed out of character that he would suddenly become the Dom.

Book 2 in the Range series & we have the virgin & the slut plot line. Don't get me wrong, Grey does write better than most but I do find the formulaic writing style of some authors doesn't do the characters justice.

Phillip & Haven (about the names Andrew!) take the staring role in this sequel & they do make a lovely couple so I was willing to over-look (well, I tried to keep the eye-rolling to a minimum!) the insta-love & the melodrama of the family feud.

hillip has been laid off and decides to visit his friends from A Shared Range, Dakota and Wally. During his visit, he meets Haven Jessup, the son of the ranch owner next door. Ok I thought the first book was really good, this one was even better. I liked Phillip in the first book, but he was so good with Haven, Dakota's neighbor. I liked that there is a bit of a mystery going on with Haven's dad, that all the other guys, including Dakota's dad, help to figure out. I really liked Haven's character, hes such a sweet man, who hasn't known much love in his life. I hope there is more of both of them in the next book.

Really more of 3.5. This series is just okay for me, I mean it's well written and the characters are likeable, it's just too sweet and slow. There's so little conflict and everything just ties up in a nice bow so easily. This is just a matter of my personal taste, though, and I'm still planning to read the next book in the series. Maybe something dramatic will happen.

I enjoyed Phillip and Haven's story. I was surprised that Grey didn't have Phillip wind up with Mario (from A Shared Range), but Haven is a great character who deserves a good man. Haven's dad definitely landed on my needs to be smacked list.

A wonderful story of two men, Haven and Phillip, who both have issues to overcome before they can find happiness. I have read several other books by Andrew Grey, but this one made me realise he has more depth as a writer than I had appreciated before. I am now looking forward to reading the previous book, Shared Range.
