I really don’t know what to say about this book except…wow.
First of all, as I should have known going in, this is the second installment in what is now a three-book series, and I am already stalking Amazon for the Kindle release. I also haven’t read the first one, but I very much intend to rectify that situation ASAP. Because I didn’t get to see Jessie and her vamp hook-up, I feel my perspective is a little skewed. Even still…wow.
I am typically not a love-triangle kind of girl,...more

Previously to reading Catching an Evil Tail, I already read and reviewed the first novel in The Soul Catcher Series, Claiming the Evil Dead. I have to admit that I liked Catching an Evil Tail better than the previous book. Probably because I’m more a fan of Jeremy/Jessie than of Drake/Jessie. Or maybe because I knew the characters better, understood their thoughts and actions (whereas in Claiming the Evil Dead, I often felt puzzled and confused) or maybe because the storyline seemed more appeali...more

Half demon Jessie Garrett, a paranormal ghost hunter by night, gets coerced into catching another soul by Jeremy. Her love, Drake, a vampire, is held up in Europe for weeks. This leaves the door of opportunity open for Jeremy, a full blooded demon with a blazing ability of his own, who has the hots for Jessie and keeps attempting to light her fire as often as possible.
Enter Jeremy’s friend, Alan, a werewolf who totes an interest in Jessie from their first meeting, nee...more

Bad guys beware; this chick will send your soul to Hell and not think twice. Her only problem? She keeps landing herself in situations that threaten her life.
Jessie just wants a normal life—job, family, kids—but as fate would have it, her path is destined for a lot more excitement. While the ghost hunts her friends and she go on are harmless enough, tackling a pissed-off werewolf who’d love nothing more than to see her dead, is another story. On top of all that, she’s kept her true identity fro...more

Jessie Garrett, is a soul-catching, half demon, that braves the day as a data entry analyst and moonlights during the evenings as a paranormal ghost hunter. And you thought you had it difficult! Supernatural creatures are bursting out of the woodwork in this entertaining and fast paced, sequel to Claiming an Evil Dead.
Hot alpha demon Jeremy is back and is need of Jessie’s “unique” talent of catching souls. His friend Alan, a werewolf, is having a simple problem with another werewolf that is abu...more

LOVED IT!!! Mary Abshire you rock! This 2nd book of the series is just as good as the first. Had to read it all in a day – just couldn’t put it down until the end. The roller coaster ride continues. Jessie and Drake keep on in their fight against evil along with Jeremy. This time Jeremy needs a favor from Jessie in helping a werewolf friend. I’m telling ya – there’s certainly no shortage of hot alpha males in this series. And all of them want Jessie’s attention. Even though Jessie sometimes ques...more

My Review:
I really enjoyed reading CATCHING AN EVIL TAIL. This novel is the second in the SOUL CATCHER series, and I had not read the first. Even with this fact, I was able to follow along easily with the relationships and characters that had clearly made an appearance the first time around. I like it when I can read a book in a series, but the story line and interpersonal relationships stand alone from book to book.

Catching an Evil Tail is Mary Abshire's thrilling follow up to Claiming the Evil Dead. Jessie Garrett is a half-demon with a unique ability. She's able to dispose of evil souls by ingesting them. Though she has tried to hide her gift for most of her life, Jessie was recently "outed," and now the supernatural community is after her help.
While her vampire boyfriend Drake is in Europe on business, Jessie agrees to help a friend of a friend. Well, her friend is actually Jeremy, a...more

There’s a new Jessie in town and this time she’s doing what she wants.
Jessie continues to struggle now more than ever in keeping her abilities a secret. It seems as though she is a magnet for the supernatural and the new people around her both at work and at home are not what they seem, which means not being ‘outed’ becomes harder than ever. Living a normal life is slipping further and further away from her. To add to her frustrations she’s having trust issues with both Dani and Drake. At least...more

Ok, so where we last left off after book one.. Drake(*swoon*) had to go off to Europe to deal with the VETOV after the death of the evil child killer Alexander leaving Jessie behind with her friends. We jump to 6 weeks later and Jessie hasn't heard from Drake who said he would be just a couple of weeks. As Jessie is back to the daily grind of her normal life (or as normal as she can possibly make it) Jeremy comes to see her asking for a favor. If you have read the first book Jeremy is in love wi...more

While Drake is still away on a VETOV reporting IN Europe (which was suppose to last a couple weeks, but this is going into the 6th week), Jeremy drops into town and makes good on those dates. While in town, Jeremy makes a proposition to Jessie to claim the soul of an evil werewolf, who preys on women and is challenging the Alpha of his werewolf buddy from college (Ryan), in exchange to cancell the rest of the dates and most of the games. The Alpha wants to make an example of this werewolf by sen...more
I devoured this book in one night, it reads very fast. It wasn’t until I finished that I pondered a few things that made me not like it as much as the first book. One being the reason Jessie’s demon “friend” asks her to help him, he’s not that altruistic, so that part didn’t work for me . And the second being Jessie’s train of thought during Drake’s absence, this is hard to explain without giving away some of the story.
I did enjoy it very much and look forward to the third book…
