The book begins by giving the facts surrounding the founding of the Virginia colony, the birth of the first child Virginia Dare in 1587, and the departure of the ships to get more supplies in England. From there the story provides a possible explanation/legend as to what happened to the colonists.

The story of Virginia Dare. First the facts then an indian legend. Well written and interesting. Good jumping off point for learning more about history. The boys liked it.
