I tried with The Mephisto Covenant, honestly, I did. But it was clear to me really early on that this was not the book for me, and unlike Carrier of the Mark (which I also realized early on was not the book for me), I didn't find anything in it that compelled me to keep reading.
* The characters. I can put up with a fair amount
Okay, I'm kidding. I'm kidding. Jeez.
In and of itself, The Mephisto Covenant is a straight-up young adult paranormal romance targeting older teens. (view spoiler)[ There's sex! Real, honest-to-goodness S.E.X. (Okay it's a little weird that I'm so excited about this, but heck, it is a YA book!) (hide spoiler)] The initial couple of chapters were a little rocky, with way too much info dumping and I was afraid the D...more

All in all a good start to what looks like a promising series, which I'm looking forward to continuing.

In my very private opinion there are only two possible and healthy viewpoints to adapt when reading The Mephisto Covenant: Incredulous Outrage and Guilty Pleasure. My own has been a mixture of both, but as my final 3-star-rating shows, I primarily went with the latter and consequently had a shitload of fun. I am aware of the fact that there are also readers who consume...more
Wow! That is The Mephisto Covenant in one word. I absolutely adored this novel and have been going slightly crazy over it ever since. I began reading with no expectations and was shocked when I fell in love instantly. It was very easy to get lost in Faegen's beautiful writing and to be captivated by her well-developed characters, thought out plot and cheeky humour.

..because the story is just dragging and there’s too much “Oh I really love her and I must be with her” and “Oh, snaps-dizzles, he’s soooo hot, so I’m totally gonna trust him and not feel all weird that he tries to erase my memory. Nah, Imma keep on making out with him. It’s all good.” …. OOOOOkaaay.
If I wanted a sappy, mushy love story that lacks substance, I’d go read Twilight or something. And if I wanted a story with basically NO worthwhile action sc...more
First off, this book was fantastic. I loved it. I'm actually confused by some of the bad reviews I've seen. The only thing I can think of is that the people who rated this lower were people who didn't give the book a fair chance and stopped reading it early on, or people who are turned off by stories that have anything to do with God. I am not one of those people. I'm a Christian so I'm not turned off by books with God in them, however, I'm normally not a fan of Christian fiction. I jus...more
I couldn't even fathom why I read as far as I did...which was about chapter three. Every page I turned, every word I read, was literally painful.
First, let's start with the cover. It was all right, I guess, and I thought "Hey, covers don't mean everything, right?"
The script on the cover was hard to read, and I had to look on the spine to figure the title out (which I guess could be filed as 'Dreamer's First World Problems').
I don't even remember if I read the insi...more

Sasha was living a nightmare, her life was torn apart in one night. The night her father was murdered. He was an insurance man on a business trip in Russia, her family's homeland. She would do anything to know who killed her father. A man said he knew who killed her father and offered to tell her. Too little, too late, she realized the man’'s real intention was to kill her next. By some sort of miracle, Sasha woke the next day, only to enter another nightmar...more

So, Mephisto Covenant.
Sounds like it would be a good book, right? A nice enough premise, seems as though the author actually did some research and, from the plot, it looks like he actually has to win her love, instead of it being the common YA insta-love. It's going to be fabulous!

The Mephisto Covenant by Trinity Faegen was a One-Sit-Read for me. Dark and enthralling, I was captivated my Ms. Faegen’s unique take on the dynamics between Heaven and Hell and those that fall in between.
Ms. Faegen puts an interesting spin on the whole Angel craze while intertwining some interesting German folklore into it.

I had high expectations for The Mephisto Covenant. But it fell a little flat for me in the end.
Perhaps it was because it wasn't exactly what I had imagined... the synopsis didn't give much in the area of what the story was exactly about, and so when I first picked it up, I had a diffe...more
Sasha is your normal girl: she goes to school, has a crush on whats-his-name (they're all alike, so forgive my ignorance) and has a nice, group of friends. Vanilla, normal. That is what her life is like.
Then her father dies, her mother is deported back to Russia, and Sasha has to go live with her evil, soul-selling relatives. No, I'm being serious. Her relatives actually sold their souls to a demon...more

I started this novel with some hesitation. I read some of the early mixed reviews and was not sure what to expect. Honestly, the first couple of chapters were so dark and unsettling I almost did not continue. I am glad I did because once I was further in and the complex plot began to unfold I was drawn in and fascinated by the new twists on some old religious ideas. This is a book about the ongoing battle between Heave...more
Fallen angels are for 2011 what Vampires were for 2009, and author Trinity Faegen seals it with this, the first book in THE MEPHISTO COVENANT series. Admittedly, I was shallow and was attracted to this book by its gorgeous cover (I want that dress!), but once I hit page 28, I was sucked into the story and could not stop reading.
Just take a look at some of the status’ I posted while reading:

The title drew me toward this book. The characters or the story (or both) threw me out of it.

A debut that's fascinating, dark, and engaging. Trinity Faegen's unique, mesmerizing mythology introduces readers to a whole new world between angels and demons and gives it a twist with romance, deception and redemption.
Trinity has put a fascinating twist on various religious themes in her book. By putting a creative spin on some well known Biblical figures, she was able to create a rich, intriguing mythology and introduce some rather unique characters that I enjoyed getting to know. F...more
This book really wasn't what I expected it to be. The mythological portion was interesting but over all, I was actually disappointed by this book.
The whole time I was reading, it felt as if I was eating stale bread. It was just bland writing. I couldn't get into the story, nor could I deeply involve myself with the characters because there wasn't much complexity to them. They were either completely good or they were completely evil. 1.Story First few pages was fine. I actually did enjoyed it. It was fast paced, interesting. Anyway, the scene does not get stuck. The story relating the Bible was no doubt interesting. The Love Story was TERRIBLE. That earns one star! *claps*
2.CharactersThe characters are awful.

He moved his head so that his lips were close to her ear. “Run, Sasha. If you can do it, run like hell and don’t look back.”
Her breath came in short little gasps. “I don’t want to run.”
