The Cookiepedia : Mixing, Baking, and Reinventing the Classics by Stacy Adimando is absolutely a must have cookie book.

The author sets out to create and recreate classic cookies, and has 50 recipes total and probably has your favorite. My favorite are Snickerdoodles and they are in the section with spicy cookies.

It begins with an introduction to the pans and the tools you'll need with a quick overview about what they are used for, then into "Cookie Speak" which defines common baking terms you'll...more

This is a great little cookie cookbook full of classic recipes, updated and tweaked and with suggestions for variations. It is well-designed--lays flat when using, colorful pictures and drawings, tips and space for cook's notes on each recipe. I made the Blondies with Browned Butter for review and loved them--so much that I had to get them out of the house. I took them to some friend and co-workers and they were promptly devoured. here's the link to my full review, recipe and pictures:

The design of this cookie recipe book is pleasing, the illustrations and pictures are attractive, and the book lies flat for ease of use. The ingredients are mostly readily available and the instructions are easy to follow. However, none of the content made me view this book as a cookie encyclopedia, which is implied in the title, nor did I see very much "reinventing" of classic recipes.
