I'll say it: I judged this book by its cover. I was expecting the writing in the novel to be as amateur as, admittedly, the cover art is. Much to my surprise (and happily so), I found that my doubts were unfounded and that this book by one "Autumn Dawn" wouldn't let me go until the end.
Don't be misled by the label; the world constructed in Teasing Danger is more similar to an alternate universe or fantasy world peopled by intelligent shapeshifters, albeit leading their lives by older traditions...more

This was a strange read for me. Its listed as the 1st book in the Darklands series yet I couldn't help but think it wasn't, due to so much backstory for other characters. I also felt at times I was missing pages of the story, like I was reading an unedited version or something, which would make sense since I found a few typo's.
The characters I liked well enough but the story was just odd. Jasmine is transported to another world with alien beings, and finds out her best friend is also an alien be...more

Different and very Interesting! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and didn't even realize that there are several more in this series....like finding money in your pockets that you didn't even know was there:) Anyway, the story is about two girls who go camping and while in the woods get captured and taken into the gates of a different world. A world ruled by haunts (similar to werewolves), who have been searching for one of the girls for several years because she is a haunt too, who disappeared as...more
Jasmin never realized her friend was different until her best friend since the orphanage, Wiley, disappeared...Only to be found again in another world, about to ascend as the queen of the Haunts, the people inhabiting the strange dimension.
Which wouldn't be that bad if they let Jasmine go. Unfortunately she's one of the rare creatures the Haunts despise. She's a Charmer, her scent rife with pheromones ready to snare any unsuspecting (and unmated) Haunts out there.

I liked this book because of its plot, interesting characters, and the world building. What I disliked about this book, was the behavior of the protagonist. Her judgment was really skewed and her emotional responses seemed very strange to me...and she was the HUMAN!! Something was just a bit off about Jasmine.
At one point though, she seemed sort of daring and it looked as though she was developing into what seemed to be a very strong character. However, she was completely overlook...more

The proof reader should be shot at dawn for about 3 glaring mistakes that made me have to reread the sentence 3 times to figure it out! It's a problem with my dislexia.
Again, her ending was complete so this could be read as a single. For those of us who started in the middle, there was not problem except the joy of learning a bit of the back stories of some of the characters.

I'm really confused by this read. Overall, Autumn Dawn's writing really sparkled and I'd lose myself in this story, but then a paragraph or scene would derail me. The core of the story is fantastic, but could've used a good scrub by an editor. For both content and technical aspects.
Before I delve too much into this review, fair warning to readers, this is a super steamy read. I didn't realize this fit more in the genre of erotica and don't usually don't go for that genre but had already started...more

I was browsing through the free ebooks available at the Sony Reader Store and came across this one. It sounded like something I might enjoy and it had a fairly high Goodreads rating on it, so why not. I had no idea what I was in store for. I did not realize this was an 'Adult' fantasy, but thought why not give it a read.
A few things first that I did not enjoy about this book. The editing, or lack of was a Hugh distraction at times for me. I am no literary scholar, but seriously this one had a t...more

This the intro to the Dark Lands series, but I read it second, as I had gotten the first book free for Kindle. It was fun to go back and read about how Jasmine, while following her friend Wiley, gets kidnapped and taken to the Dark Lands. Then she finds out that Wiley, the friend she had grown up with in an orphanage, is not actually 100% human but a Queen of the Haunt in the Dark Lands named Rihlia. And Wiley (Rihlia) can shapeshift into a wolf!

This is the second book I have read by Autumn Dawn, and just like my first, I loved it! The women are strong, the males alpha but very doting. In the Charmer, Jasmine is reluctantly brought in to a fantastical world/dimension(?) by Keilor, a shape-shifting Haunt. Of course, they argue and appear to not stand each other, but they have undeniable attraction, and not due to Jasmine's ability to charm men into doing her bidding. Very nice romance, and poor Jasmine cannot catch a break throughout the...more
i'm gonna be fair and start by saying that i enjoyed some of it, jas is funny and i ended up laughing with her on some of her stunts. . .
BUT!. . .
the begining was bad. they just dropped me unexpectedly right into the middle of the story. i had hard time finding out wtf was going on the first 20 pgs or so, but i was fine with it until i started getting more irritated by jas the more i read about her. the characters are stereotyped (me lord! you weak human woman!) and just plain stupid sometimes,...more

This is a story about Jasmine. A woman know winds up in another world looking for her friend. There's danger to all the unattached men who come near Jasmine, hormone are the excuse for everything! Well, for men they are....
She can't escape the new world or Keilor. Who of course is affected ( not mated as they put it). They come together, apart, together, and together. HAHAHA
There is kidnapping, battle scenes, and love scenes. What more can you want from a book! This story should appeal to many....more

I think I would have liked this book more if I read it before #3. I really liked Scent of Danger and it highlights a lot of the pivotal points from this story. Therefore I sort of knew what was going to happen and it seemed to drag on. I enjoyed the book though and the story kept me going. I tend to enjoy the chase between heroes and heroines and reading about it until the end ... I noticed that Autumn Dawn doesn't draw out the chase, which is unique and appreciated but I think that may be anoth...more
This story should not be classified for children or youth. There is a lot of sexual content, I would not want my young daughter reading. I would not recommend it for children under 16 years of age. Ideally, they should be 18.
This book is good. I was disappointed in the lack of finesse used by the author to wrap the novel up. The ending was bland & disappointing for such a promising novel. additionally, I felt at times certain dramatic events took place without much build up or explanation.....more

I didn’t expect to like this book at all after reading the first few chapters. In fact, I had to utilize a lot of will power so that I wouldn’t put the book down somewhere, forget about it and happily abandon ship.
After dredging through several more chapters I found there were certain aspects of the story that I could appreciate and sufficiently piqued my interest enough to keep me reading and consider the possibility that I might like the book to some degree by the time I finished.

It starts off with a girl, Jasmine looking for her BFF in the woods while camping, only to find she was kidnapped, when the 'kidnappers' come for her and take her back to what turns out to be another world of some kind of 'shifters', similar to werewolves. Her BFF, Wiley, whose real name is Rhilia (and this part got a bit confusing when talking about her, since the characters kept calling her by both names), is the daughter of the Queen of this clan of 'shifters' in the world they call the Darkl...more
c2011: This book is a true fantasy - and I mean that we have a young sassy girl who manages to win the heart of the handsomest, bravest and sexiest man in this particular world. If it had not been written so well, I would have consigned this with the withering comment of "Mills and Boon". I am not sure how the author managed to do this but every time I closed the book I had a smile on my face. I don't think that for one minute this book will appear on the top 100 books of the century but for a r...more
This was an interesting book. When I first read it, I was expecting an atypical paranormal/fantasy novel. What I got was a hell of a lot more. I enjoyed reading about Jasmine's first experiences with the Haunt. And I enjoyed how Keilor was portrayed as a manwhore.
I absolutely loved it when Jasmine found out she was a succubus (for lack of a better word) and I loved it when the male Haunts started to become enthralled with her....including Keilor.

Different but in a good way. I just loved it. There were a few typos and at times, I was borderline lost, but for me this didn't take away from the book. For me this was a cross between, Underworld, minus the vampires, Alice in Wonderland (with the idea that two unexpecting people get transported to a parallel world). Now just throw in some love, although it definitelly wasn't love at first sight love (thank god), some witty dialogue, and people out to get the main charachters and WHAMO you have...more
I'm categorizing this as a Teen Fic, but I really don't know for sure where it would go in a book store shelf. I hate the book cover, but it caught my eye because it was a free download for my Barnes and Noble Nook. I actually liked it, which is pretty rare for me with the free books offered at B&N. I'm a stickler for spelling, and I did find some typos, but not nearly as many as I expected to find in a free download.

I got this as a free book through my iPad kindle app and I was so surprised by the quality of the story. Now I'm hooked and I can't wait to read the next book in the series. There are some skipped over parts but there is a companion book that tells the story from another point of view. The Charmer is from Jasmine's point of view and is the first in the series. It's a great book full of fantasy and romance. It's a fun, quick summer read and I highly recommend it.
I thought this was a good book and I enjoyed it but it never really explained who was trying to kill her and why. I thought maybe it was Fallon but it never said one way or the other or what his story even was. The first half of the book I would give a 5 and the last half of the book only a 3. I believe parts of it was hurried along and rushed while other parts dragged out. The characters are enjoyable and amusing. Kelior is too chauvanistic for me but I loved Jasmine.
This was a freebie when I downloaded it but I quickly was made a fan of this series. I have since read all of the books in this series thus far & will continue as new ones come along. Hopefully I will not spoil anything for the readers but basically the main character is Jasmine whom you love right away. She gets taken through a gate (think stargate) to another planet while looking for her best friend. At this point she finds her friend & has a journey of her own. Jasmine finds romance,...more
For some reason I was under the impression this was a YA novel. I think I got it from Amazon either for free or close to it and I thought it was in the YA category? Needless to say it is NOT a YA novel. From what I read it didn't flow very well and lacked a lot of world building and character development. I was hoping this was going to be better just because the plot had potential but it really fell short. I mean, Jasmine was taken to another world with three moons and barely blinked an eye. I a...more
I loved this book and I loved the characters. Was not aware that this had sex scenes in it when I purchased it but I loved it. I have to agree with someone else when they said the ending disappointed them. I do not like the ending and the other books in the series have different main characters so I'm not sure if I will read those books. I really wished the ending left off better.
I would have given this book a 3, but halfway through the book it started going downhill. Then the ending was so abrupt. It's as if she had 100 pages of plot left to write, but then decided she had something else to do, so she wrapped in up in 2 pages instead. I literally said to myself, "wait, that's it?!l" when I reached the startlingly truncated end of the story.
I thought that the actual story was great but it lacked detail and vision. Events in the story came by so quick with very little detail in what happened. A two month period (which I thought was important during the story) was written in a chapter and a half it felt like. But I guess its a good quick read if you are looking for one.
This book was just pure fun I stayed up all night and finished it in one sitting. It is a great escape from your own life for a few hours kinda book. I never heard of the author before reading this book and even though I have over a hundred of unread books on my kindle I had to buy the next 2 just becuase of the fun of it.
