Can you imagine reading a book that is far from your usual Genre of interest and being pleasantly & shockingly suprised? I did just that by reading Inside out. I could tell you that "THIS IS THE BEST BOOK I'VE EVER READ", but it's not. It is however, one of the most absorbing books I've ever read. Due to the clever way it is writen and the gritty depth of the stories, I was gripped from the getgo. Not only did I gain an indepth insight as to the inner-most workings of the authors mind, I som...more
I was looking on Barnes & Noble for a book called 'Inside Out' (a personal history of Pink Floyd) I typed it into search and scrolled through the list of books called Inside Out and notice the front cover of this book and the sub title, You can take the boy out of Peckham. I curious about the front cover but the word PECKHAM struck a chord since I lived there as a child myself. Barnes and Noble (as well as amazon.com) give you the opportunity to read some of the chapters from the book before...more
I do not usually go for this type of book but I'm so glad I did. It was bought for me as a gift by a collleague at work. She had previously raved on about it around the office, so I thought I had better read a few chapters spread out across the book since I knew she would quizz me about it at some point. My aim was to read the first chapter, then a few in the middle and the last couple.
From the first chapter the book had me in a strangle hold around the neck and refused to let me go. My plan to...more

Well seeing as I wrote this book it would be vulgar of me to give it a fantastic review, so I'll just offer a bio which is actually on the back cover:
I am a loving caring 41-year-old father of two, who after having spent the first 30 years of my life navigating my way through the often perilous crime-ridden streets of South East London and often ending up on the wrong side of the law, have decided to share some of my most dangerous, terrifying, funny and romantic experiences by writing this book...more

"I read this book 'Inside Out' on the advice of friends, and I could not put it down. It had me gripped from start to finish. The way it's writen and the Inside Out chapter Order,Immediately had me engrossed making me feel like I was at the authors side throughout everything he did and everything he went through. Often on the wrong side of the law, Rick Atkinson never did anything Buy the book, and was constantly knee deep in skullduggery or danger. With a mix of comedy and plenty of sexy escapa...more
My Father recommended this book since he loves reading true crime and biographies. I was surprised that I actually liked this book seeing as I normally read Fantasy and horror books. Some how I ended up in the book's spell (and I'm supposed to be the Witch). I can't put my finger firmly on the reason why I found this book so Intreaguing, I just didn't want it to end and found my self wanting to know even more about the author. I will not be looking to continue reading gritty true crime books in...more
Cracker, Right up my street. (not literally even though i did live in South London once upon a time) One of those books you just can't put down. Inside Out is a True Crime/biography about the Author. If you had a melting pot and threw in Tony Manero, Danny Zucko, The Artful Dodger, Danny dyre, Del-Boy, Tucker Jenkins, The whole cast from nil-by-mouth, Micheal J Fox and Quentin Tarrentino's nightmares, then pour all of that into a mould, the final product would be the author Rick Atkinson. I read lots of books with true story content that have an eliment of thrills and exitement. This book has everything and kept me gripped from start to finish. I could relate to many of the stories told and found myself standing along-side the author and accompanying him through his adventurous and perilous journey through life. Will read again at some point unless it's made into a film, then I will be the first in the queue outside the Brighton and Hove cinema.
