Demonglass (Hex Hall #2)
Sophie Mercer's first mistake was thinking that she is a witch. Actually, she's a demon. Her second miscue was developing a throbbing crush on Archer Cross, a secret agent hell-bent on destroying her and her classmates at Hecate Hall (a.k.a. Hex Hall). In this second series installment, Sophie takes off on a transatlantic summer break project designed to de-demonize her; w...more
Why must these books have to have the predictable love triangle?
Why not a love square?
I'm serious! Why must there be two guys and one girl? Or two girls and one guy? I know. Twilight started it all but come on! Rachel Hawkins is a good author and well, I really liked the way she wrote the characters but seriously, do I have to pick a team? I didn't like te...more
Dang! I just read Hex Hall, and I want to read this one now. 2011 is too long away.
How come so many people have already read this? NOT FAIR. (pout)
EDIT Oct. 22: COVER!!! WEDDING DRESS!!! AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!
EDIT Feb. 14: Ya know, if they kept the orginal release date, it would be coming out tomorrow... I want it now.

“Somehow, my whole existence had become a really complicated world problem.
I’d always sucked at those.”
Initial Final Page Thoughts.
WHAT. NOOO. COME ONNN.
Still so very hilarious. I really want to have a picnic with Ms Hawkins so I can

*I'm very sorry if my opinions differ from everybody else's. I understand that we all have different opinions. Thank you for considering that. :)
Demonglass was a disappointing novel after Hex Hall. I imagined more of the excellent character development that the previous book had, and an original plot and premise from the now cliched romance stories of today. Sadly, there was little, if none of that.
Demonglass takes off right after the ending of Hex Hall. S...more
I read this book in the space of just a few hours this morning. This was largely because there were some parts I had to skim-read. I am so so disappointed in this sequel to Hex Hall, it's been a wishlister of mine ever since I put the previous book down and I honestly believed I would love it - it's even set in my homeland after all!
But I couldn't get into the story... well, there actually didn't seem to be a whole lot of story. Basically, Sophie goes to hide out in the English countryside for f...more
Sophie is one tough and sarcastic main character and I LOVE her snarkiness above everything else. But still, she's just a young girl trying hard to come to terms with her bei...more

I will admit, when starting this book I couldn't remember the fine details of Hex Hall, but the author does a nice job of recapping events as they come up in the context of Demonglass. This leaves Hex Hall #2 at a perfect place to expand upon what we know, what we remember, and even the small nuances we may have forgotten.
The story of Demonglass is quite a bit more complex than Hex Hall, as it should be. We pick up pretty mu...more
This book spent the first half not answering any of the questions I had from the first book, You would think when that would happen it would be because the action was so intense you didn't have time for info dumps. Sadly that was not the case in this boo...more
I was disappointed with the ending of Hex Hall, but this totally made up for that.
Setting: Hawkins did not take advantage of her setting at all, in my opinion, and made little of it accessible to th...more
It was just so much better than Hex Hall, the characters really got rolling, and Sophie really started to be that independent character that I've been looking for. She gets more into her magic, with a little added comedy (the doritos accident). She really starts to get past the attitude of what many people would feel like if they had a power that could des...more
Fans of the mother-book will love this. It picks right up where we left off. The story itself is a little bit more deep and intense at parts than the 1st book. For a sequel, this is great. I'm ready for the next installment.. NOW!! (I think Sophie's mom has a few tricks up her sleeve for the next book)

And with the guys! Oh my gosh the guys, Cal and Archer! This is (I think) the first time that I'm really in a dilemma on whose team I am!! I can't choose between the two of them...more
