Even the villain of this story is convinced his Strangelove-esque plan won't work.
Peter has come back from Vietnam with neurological damage—damage that might just give him extrasensory perceptions. When he begins to hear too much, his politician brother and old physics mentor get worried. They’re on the cusp of a huge project that could save human society—or end it. Wilhelm is particularly good at interpersonal details, and Peter is a well-developed and likeable main character.
