This is a book of short stories set in an existing alternate timeline series. For those who don’t know what alternate timeline books are, they are basically books that are written on Earth but in there are different changes to the Earth. The best way to reference this would be the show Sliders. Each time, they slid to another Earth, but there were variances, such as America never became its own country, Space Flight was never discovered, etc.

I really enjoyed this story. Asha is a smart, considerate and...well the only word I can come up with is calculating. She never does anything without her full wits about her. Asha was bitten by a dragon as a young girl, so she can hear the souls of all living things echoing in her own ear. She refuses to be called a doctor and refers to herself as an herbalist.

I Like Asha and her new friend Priya. Asha is a herbalist who goes traveling to find new animals and plant life that can help others. Asha finds people who need to help and gets envolved and helps them. When Asha was small she got bitten by a dragon and poisened and monk took her back to his temple and with a few years was cured mostly. she still has part of the dragon on her ear and can hear plants and animals now. It has ghosts, a mongoose, sunsnakes. Its a new world he has invented. I like jo...more
I enjoyed this book. Though the stories all revolve around some aspect of death, they focus more on ghosts and unnatural events then on characters dying. Asha is an herbalist and part of her story is told through her interactions with other people. The descriptions of nature and plants are fitting given her occupation, and her unique ability gives her an advantage in her field. The stories all blend natural events explainable events with myth and stories to make the problems seem supernatural, w...more
