Good solid bio of a director who succeeded in both film and on the stage. Among the classic shows he directed were Porgy and Bess, Oklahoma!, and Carousel. He also directed the Fredric March Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Whether because of pride or changing times, his last several decades were kind of sad as he was dismissed as director of Cleopatra.
