My daughter decided to eat broccoli the other day simply because Elmo puts it in his soup. Success? I think so.

Lots of veggies and some other fun words are introduced in this book. I like how Elmo's mom helps with the cooking, and that Elmo doesn't get to use knives (go Sesame Street for not giving my daughter bad ideas). Some of the best parts are what Elmo decides not to put in the soup (a xylophone, ice cream). Cookie Monster's character has not been destroyed -- for the last line in the boo

Not a great book by any stretch, but serviceable enough for a food-themed storytime for older babies & toddlers. I also like that they put lima beans in the soup instead of vilifying them.
