I picked it up thinking it was five stories running in parallel and then realized instead it was a collection of five differeent stories. Mary higginns clark has an uncanny talent for thrillers and watching it being extended to short stories genre was a good reading experience.

Of the five stories anastasia syndorme is the longest and stands out for its twist and turns. Many times when you think you have outsmarted the author by guessing ahead, you will be surprised. Story line is little differen...more

Other stories in this book are ok, but they are nothing special... But story named The Anastasia Syndrome is.. absolutely great! I read it 'till 2 o'clock am. It's exciting, very tensed...

The Anastasia Syndrome is a well-written, psychological thriller about a woman who assumes the identity of a historical figure she’s researching. What may have begun as a standard case of multiple personality disorder (instigated, perhaps, by long hours spent in the library) becomes something of a possession by the long-dead murderess, and Judith must fight to take her life back or lose herself completely.

Terror Stalks the Class Reunion tells the story of a man’s lasting obsession with an old hi...more

This is a great collection of Clark's short stories. Each one different and a very enticing story. The Anastasia Syndrome about a woman with two identities that have two very different motives and the only thing connecting them is a book. Terror Stalks and Class Reunion well the title sort of explains that one. Lucky Day about a woman who mad friends with an old man who thought he was going to win the lottery and then has a scare that her husband killed him for the winning ticket. Double Vision...more

Mary Higgins Clark is one of my favorite authors of all-time. This wasn't one of my favorite books written by her, though. She is the queen of suspense and I just don't think her style lends itself very well to short stories. There was no lack of suspense in these 5 works. I just enjoy it more when the suspense is drawn out for longer. With that said, this book was still worthy of 4 stars, perhaps 4 and a half if we were allowed to award it as such.

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this book yet as it was one my favorites when I was younger. I re read it about 3 times. The short stories are very well written and it is just a very good book. The first story "The Anastasia Syndrome" is a fantastic read. I would absolutely recommend this collection of short stories.

I picked this one up from the "share" shelf at Curves, just for a change of pace. I read it one day. They are short stories and very riveting, though I feel like I've just gorged myself on a bag of potato chips. Perfect for a cold winter's day.

The writing style may be repetitive, especially if the author's novels are read one after the other. But some stories are well written, and deserve attention. Others don't have a captivating plot, even if they are all well written.

Overall, I really enjoy the Anastasia Syndrome. It is a great story and the plot is really interesting, I can't help to finish it. While the other stories is just quite good for me, maybe because the story is too short.

I love Mary Higgins Clark. Her short stories remind me of O. Henry's writings. This is the 4th time I've read this book and I still got amazed at how well she weaved the stories.

This book is dear to me. My very first 'adult' book given to me as a present by my dad in fifth grade. That's when I was beginning to grow out of Babysitters Club and Sweet Valley High. lol

It has been a long time since I read this book of stories. I believe that I enjoyed most of the short stories. I know I did NOT like the main story "The Anastasia Syndrome".

I completely agree with the "loveclassicmovies" review: the other stories in the book aren't that great, but the Anastasia Syndrome makes it worth your while.

Storie cupe e violente, in cui le donne sono molto consapevolmente vittime e burattinaie. Ottimo per la spiaggia, senza troppe pretese.

Really good. Some of the stories have the typical Clark themes (e.g. there's a stalker), but some are quite different from what I'm used to from her- very nice surprise.
Dianna
I love Mary Higgins Clark, she has me hooked from the first chapter. I can tell if I will like the book, right from the start.

Title story was poor - the main character bought explosives - some better ones later. Enjoyed the lottery ticket. OK I suppose.
Cindy
This was a fun read. Lots of short stories and I see where she produced the ideas for other complete novels from them.

This is a collection of short stories. I think that this was an OK book of short stories some better then others.

1) Anastasia is about a woman who assumed the identity of the person that she was doing research on for a book.
2) Terror stalks the Class Reunion is about a student who kidnaps his teacher after a class reunion.
3) Lucky Day is short about an usual friendship.
4) Double Vision two twins one is murdered the other has to solve the crime before she is next.
5) The Lost Angel is about a litt...more

Book #21 read in 2012

I don't typically like short stories, but these were very suspenseful. I liked the main story, "The Anastasia Syndrome," the least of the five stories.
Sarah
Thoroughly enjoyed each short story - kept me winding and twisting with suspense to resolution!
Lauren
I was enraptured by the Anastasia Syndrome; the other stories were somewhat less enthralling.

This is my first Mary Higgins Clark novel and I loved it. The suspense and irony were great. Reminded me of Roald Dahl a little.
