This is not one of those books you can just read once and take all you need to know from it. You really would have to read this book several times to fully understand what Deepak Chopra is saying because the book is just so jam-packed with information on basically everything: how to bring unity to your life, how to remove suffering from your life, how the Universe works, what the meaning of life is, how our standard notion of evil is an illusion, how to understand time, and how to come to terms...more

This is a self-help book, but it truly teaches you how to be in a perpetual positive mode. It teaches you how to not sweat the little things in life. These are my favorite quotes from this book:

"Transformation means radical change of form, the way a caterpillar transforms into a butterfly. In human terms, it means turning fear, aggression, doubt, insecurity, hatred, and emptiness into their opposites".

"Your purpose in life is to help creation to expand and grow".

"Every cell in your body agree...more

This guy is an idiot, abuses science, and reinforces farces with inaccurate uses of quantum mechanics.

Going to call BS on this guy.

When reading anything bt Deepak Chopra, one needs to be prepared for some of his "new age" visions and ideas the book claims to "unlock the hidden dimensions of your life"
Much in the book is common sense, other things need to be taken with a grain of salt.
His writing is always interesting, as there are always some thoughts he writes about, which make a bit of sense, and is nothing mysterious, simply taking care of oneself in every aspect of life, taking care of your health by what you eat, exerc...more

What a great book. I think that Deepak's writing style is a bit challenging, but the ideas are all there - finding the strength to push through the bullshit and see who you really are. Some of the things I particularly liked about it:
- The bullet point format of each chapter made it easy to figure out the concepts (which are, by default, a bit cerebral)
- The stories about Chopra's life, particularly the description of the death of his father, were very compelling. I wanted more of them, and thi...more

While at first this book was though-provoking and "deep" I began to feel annoyed with the author about a third of the way into it. What I started to take away from each page was the concept that there really is no good, no evil, no right, no wrong... Everything is what it is, and it is all inside of you. Embrace it. Flow with it. Blah blah blah. I wish I could agree with this author, and the Eastern philosophies he teaches - those things are actually much more attractive to me than the Western "...more

This book, like many "new age" books, law of attraction books, self-help books, or whatever name you want to use for them, did not add anything new to the book world. It did not even say things in a unique or different way. In fact, this book is written as if Chopra is trying to sound better than the reader. I have a degree in physics and years of reading these types of books, and even I could barely follow what he was saying - not because I didn't understand, but because it seemed he was trying...more

I often wonder why people read and I imagine there are many reasons. I know for myself I'm often selfish about it. I look for the aha moment and those things I see in myself, the answers to my own personal questions. Sometimes it's no more than the entertainment value. More often than not I don't give the author much thought as I move to the next read. This book, this author is different. Deepak Chopra gives generously of himself. The words ring true to being his own deeply felt beliefs and the...more

This book changed my life. Deepak Chopra shows you an entirely new way of thinking and I'm so excited to read other books of his. He teaches you a new appreciation for life, different ways to turn all of the negatives into positives. His writing is very intense and I often had to go back and read sentences several times before I felt like I fully grasped the concept he was trying to make. I definitely think this is a must read for anyone who doesn't realize their full potential. It gave me an en...more

This is the first book I've read by Deepak Chopra...which seems odd since I've been wanting to read him for at least 10 years! I must say, I'm hooked! I love that he's an MD as well, as he speaks my language! I love when scientists back up their spirituality thus. I read this book as I fell asleep each night and had the most fantastic of dreams, and woke up feeling wonderful! The content didn't contain much new information for me, but it was told in a great way that helped remind me of what I be...more

This book is amazing! I love Deepak's approach to explaining life's puzzles. His writing allowed me to gain a little more mental freedom, which always feels fantastic. One of the most interesting concepts in the book dealt with transformations. In this life we are merely co-creating experiences and knowledge. We are constantly undergoing transformations not only in our self, but in the lives of those we are intimately involved with as well. My life is not only mine, it also is co-created by my h...more

Deepak Chopra shows you new way of thinking, He teaches you a new appreciation for life, turning negatives into positives.I definitely think this is a must read for anyone who doesn't realize their full potential. It gave me an entirely different view on myself, the universe and everyone around me. For those in the Journey of self Discovery this is a must read and in your persnoal library for easy reference.

Is a basic good book about spirituality that covers several topics, but from a vision and experience of Deepak. Sometimes it is difficult to read because he tries to cover a deep subject very quickly.
(sorry for my bad ENG.)

I liked some chapters more than others, perhaps because I understood them better or they go along with my general thinking of the universe. Though the book did not make a "breakthrough" or "epiphany" moment with me, I do however value some of the more positive points it had to offer.

I would certainly re-read certain chapters again. I think one would be able to relate to certain sections more depending on the different phases (dimensions) they are in there being.

I thought this book was a little hard to get into, and some sections I appreciated more than others. Overall I enjoyed the book.

My favorite section was on decision making....

"If you obsess over whether you are making the right decision, you are basically assuming that the universe will reward you for one thing and punish you for another...This isnt a correct assumption because the universe is flexible - it adapts to every decision you make."

"Who you are is far more than any single choice you hav...more

Deepak Chopra is an interesting author with some very illuminating points of view. I found this work consistent with many of his others; he is quite skilled at presenting difficult-to-understand concepts from a unique perspective that makes them seem quite simple.
Also like many of his books, this is somewhat of a survey work. It does not go into any great depth in any one area. I found this disappointing.
Elizabeth Olson
A compendium/overview of spiritual tenets paired with psychological principles to come up with an explanation of and guide to life that seeks to distill the world history of philosophical and religious knowledge down to simple, usable forms. Everything here is right on, but there are no new insights, and the book as a whole might have been better if it were less comprehensive in scope, with some of the presented ideas explored at greater depth.
Ghada Sleiman
I recommend "The Book of Secrets" for people who are interested in "New Age" philosophies but need a more logical approach. The book is dense and needs to be read more than once to grab what the author is saying. However, Chopra uses examples from life for an easier understanding of concepts. What is most interesting about the book is the fusion between science and spirituality.

This is the first book I've read from Deepak Chopra, and definitely will not be the last! this book is full of very good information, talks about life and death, which really opened my eyes with his viewpoints. It also talks about different life situations and has exercises to help you along the way into a more positive and uplifting life. :)

I have read a lot of books in this genre. I would lend this to a person who simply wants to put into context the serendipity of life. It is awesome. Deepak is genuinely gifted as both a medical doctor and a philosopher, in combining science with spirituality in a way that lends itself to application of ideas that work. I am loving this book.

This is the first book I read by Deepak Chopra, and I absolutely loved it. However, I also understand that his ideas are not going to be universally accepted or appreciated. Please read this with an open mind, and it may take several times reading it for the ideas to fully sink in and make sense in the context of your own life.

This was my first foray into Eastern philosophy / spiritualism, so the language and presentation was a bit different than I am used to. The author made a lot of good points on themes such as reality, the ego, death, evil, unity, etc. I am going to have to reserve judgment until i can give it a second read, which won't be right away, but it does deserve a second look.

As is the case for me and most Deepak Chopra books, it took me a while to get into the flow of this book. Surprisingly, I got really hooked somewhere after the first few chapters and haven't been able to stop reading, or thinking about some of the concepts.

A few novel ideas that really appealed to me include:
- a daily darkness/shadow meditation, where you deliberately follow a dark emotion/corner of your mind to give it attention until it dissipates into nothingness. brilliant.
- chapter on letti...more

Deepak's solution to everything is always to meditate. I understand the importance of clearing your head and regrounding but wasn't particularly thrilled by this book.

Enjoyed the last chapter on passion and how mistakes are not mistakes if you learn from them.

The thing about Deepak's books is that they require 100 percent of my attention. I often find myself going back to reread specific paragraphs because my mind wandered someplace else while reading. He doesn't waste any words. Each and every sentence is important!

This book provides an opportunity to reflect on our life, future and what made us be who we are. It is destiny, synchronicity or just life that seems to put it all together for us and lead us to where we are and where we need to be? Interesting concepts to ponder.
Lacy Rice
These really were secrets for me. Many of the concepts and strategies still remain complicated and difficult to grasp but I feel like it's a process. I love how this book gave me insight to improve my life in ways that I wasn't aware were even possible.

I gave up halfway through this book. I love Deepak Chopra and am a huge fan of his writing, but for some reason I just didn't connect with this book. I will go back at another time and try again because I am sure it is full of wisdom and excellent advice.
Meg Hensley
Deepak Chopra has some very interesting ideas of creation, what we are as humans, and our thought processes. Its a little abstract for me.....he gets right to the heart of his ideas, which is very bare bones. But extremely thought-provoking........

I had many epiphanies reading this book and it was very enlightening. Not usually something i would read but it helped me in certain areas of my personal life. It's almost like a healing book and an eye opener. Very easy to read and it makes you think.

“If you obsess over whether you are making the right decision, you are basically assuming that the universe will reward you for one thing and punish you for another.

The universe has no fixed agenda. Once you make any decision, it works around that decision. There is no right or wrong, only a series of possibilities that shift with each thought, feeling, and action that you experience.

If this sounds too mystical, refer again to the body. Every significant vital sign- body temperature, heart rate, oxygen consumption, hormone level, brain activity, and so on- alters the moment you decide to do anything… decisions are signals telling your body, mind, and environment to move in a certain direction.”

“No single decision you ever made has led in a straight line to where you find yourself now. You peeked down some roads and took a few steps before turning back. You followed some roads that came to a dead end and others that got lost at too many intersections. Ultimately, all roads are connected to all other roads.” 38 people liked it
