Werewives, they are rich, live in posh communities and get furry with the moon...
These are urban fantasy and not romances for the most part, I liked Ivy's story the best by far ( and gave the whole shebang an extra half star for her story), Fox's was prettty good and the other two were just ok.

What a fun anthology!
I'll break it down into the 4 novellas for you guys:
"Where Darkness Lies" by Alexandra Ivy-5 flames
My favorite in the anthology. Sophia is the biggest bitch of them all, if any of you have read Alexandra Ivy's Guardians of Darkness series. She's a fun heroine who has just opened up a strip club for the ladies ;) Hottest male weres around. But unfortunately she's being attacked. She hires a bodyguard who isn't what he seems, and might...more

I received The Real Werewives of Vampire County from the fantabulous Jess Haines (thanks, Jess), and couldn’t resist the quirky charm and humor of these upper-class denizens of the supernatural world.
Where Darkness Lives by Alexandra Ivy – No one’s more surprised than Sophia when she’s struck by an unfamiliar maternal urge to move near her daughters. But instead of being greeted by a welcome committee, she’s targeted by kidnappers…and saddled with a gorgeous bodyguard on a mission to protect – a...more

Favorite Line: "It's all that testosterone rotting your brain." (p. 28)
If you are unfamiliar with Alexandra Ivy's Guardian's of Eternity series you may have difficulty connecting to the characters in Where Darkness Lives. Four of the key characters in the Guardian's of Eternity series are Sophia's (the heroine of Where Darkness Lives) daughters. I've read most of the eight full length books and one of the two (other) anthologies set in the Guardian world, and...more

anthology of 4 stories dealing with female were-wolves and those they are involved with. The Ivy story is set in the Guardians of Eternity world, I will admit to not having read any, but will be checking them out after this story.
The Fox story is a comedy-murder mystery. Since I've read her Demon Slayer books, I had high hopes for this one and she didn't fail to make me lol.
The Haines story is another mystery. A nice normal girl meets a charming man via a web match-making-site. She moves down...more

Come on with a title like that you know I just had to get it.
Where Darkness Lives by Alexandra Ivy takes place in the world of her Guardians of Eternity series which I admit I’ve not read. I enjoyed the story but would probably have gotten more out of it if I had read the series.

When done well, a tongue-in-cheek paranormal romance can be both laugh out loud funny and über sexy in the same instance. Kensington put together four great examples of this type of writing in 'The Real Werewives of Vampire County.' With heavy hitters like Alexandra Ivy's 'Where Darkness Lives' you won't be disappointed with this anthology. The only author I had read before was Ivy and now I have three new authors to "catch up with."

Since there is four authors here, two new-to-me and two familiar, I always read my favorite author first. That would be Angie Fox.
Hearing the basis about the story left me a bit hesitant. This is quite the departure from her Demon Slayer books, and yes, vampires really are not a "favorite" of mine.
However, like with the Demon Slayer books, Angie never lost her unique, fun humor voice.

The rating is based on the first 2 stories in the book. I really enjoyed Where Darkness Lives by Alexandra Ivy and Murder on Mysteria Lane by Angie Fox. I'd give both of those stories 4 stars. They would fall under paranormal romance & mystery.
The other 2 stories I didn't care for that much. There was no romance to be found in Werewolves in Chic Clothing by Tami Dane (2 stars) or What's Yours is Mine by Jess Haines (2.5 stars). The mysteries weren't even that good.

3.5 stars - I'm not entirely done with the last story in the book but nevertheless wanted to throw a few comments in. Yes. The title caught my attention and drew me in. Never underestimate the power of a good title and cover image!
The anthology started strong but I've had problems with finishing the last story and not switching off to other books in the meanwhile. It's almost too much in number of stories. I think I would have been happy without the last one, "What's Yours is Mine" by Jess Hain...more

Where Darkness Lives – Alexandra Ivy. Sophia is a revered among the werewolves. She was one of the few females in the past centuries able to bear children. She is the mother of the four purebred females, one of whom was the current Queen of the Weres. But someone is trying to kill her, and she is forced to hire a bodyguard. Enter Luc, a gorgeous, purebred alpha male who wants to do more than just guard her body. Together they try to keep Sophia alive and feed their mutual desires before time run...more
I rated the book based on the first three stories wich were enjoyable.
Where Darkness Lives by Alenxandra Ivy -- 4 stars
Oh I went from hating Sophia to kinda at least being able to understand her. Great addition to the series!

I can't remember ever disliking a UF novel for its content rather than due to my very personal pet peeves. These stories were creepy and disturbing to me as their main point seemed to be lies and deceptions (in a very clichéd and sexist image of femininity).
Heather and Sophia's stories seems the most innocuous (mainly because we are talking of a description of women I connect to) but I'm definitely underwhelmed.

I love the title of this book! This was such a fun anthology, and even though I don't follow the series, if any, I was able to have enjoy and maybe be more into trying out the actual series. That's what anthologies are meant to do, right?

Review of the novella "Where Darkness Lives" By Alexandra Ivy
Sophia, the Were mother of the four pure blood daughters and most revered female among her kind, was known as the Queen of Bitches. Not revealing that she may want to be near her daughters, she moves into a gated community in Chicago. She refused Styx's offer to stay at his lair for her safety even with the Dark Lord's powers still seem to be looming. However she decided to hire a bodyguard, Luc.

This book is a compendium of four short stories revolving around werewolves and vampires. While short stories are not my favorite kind of reading, I expected to enjoy this book. However, I had a hard time getting into it and found myself a bit bored and not very interested. The stories are rather dark, and are not your typical happily-ever-after read.

"Where Darkness Lives" by Alexandra Ivy (Guardians of Eternity #7.6)
I’m not fully versed in the Guardians of Eternity series, but this novella feels very much like it’s connected to other stories with numerous character references and plotlines that aren’t included here. Not that the story is confusing, it’s not. The story is about werewolf Sophia, prized among her community for her fertility (she has four full grown daughters who I’m guessing had their...more

Those who know me will probably be able to guess I wanted to read this book because it has a story by Jess Haines. Luckily her story wasn't the only gem in this anthology.
I will give my thoughts about each of the 4 stories.

I strongly disliked Sophia, the lead character. The plot was largely evolving around a romance and not liking one of the two people involved in the romance isn't a good thing I think. So this story didn't work for me. Maybe I should try s...more

I got this book solely for the Alexandra Ivy story as I am a huge fan of the Guardians series.
I really liked the story and would have preferred it to be longer but then that is because I do love the series and just want to read more. However I did find Sophia's character to be strange. In previous books Sophia has always been portrayed to be a nasty self serving slut and now all of a sudden she is almost being portrayed as sweet and picky about her men which is really wei...more

Technically I only read the Alexandra Ivy short story in this anthology but I really enjoyed it. At a later date I intend to read the other stories but I have quite the list of new releases to catch up on first. That said I found it a nice change to get to now the mother of the Were quadruplets. She always came off very indifferent but now I know the truth. Great story, in a way I wish it was a little longer, but I do love a short story every now and then.
3.5 stars
I only read 'Where Darkness Lives' by Alexandra Ivy because it's part of a series I have been reading (Guardians of Eternity 7.6). Seems like the books in this series are pretty long between release dates, so I was willing to even buy all of this content I wasn't interested in just to get my Guardians fix.
The story had action and was actually pretty good. Wish it had been a single release, even if in Novella form.

Oh my GOSH. Super funny, and good, and weird! I just love anthologies, especially when they include a fav author(s)! Each story is a sifferent take on weres in suburbia. Sometimes nostalgic, funny, scary, silly, romantic, domestic... there are so many moods included. Suffice it to say, if you like paranorms about weres... you'll love this book!
I actually received the lovely oversized paperback as a birthday gift!

More a collection of novellas that a book of short stories, this piece of paranormal romance is hit and miss. A Mary Sue tale kicks things off, and I almost stopped reading after that too-perfect piece of wish fulfillment. But Murder on Mysteria Lane was fun and interesting.
I'm sure others will have their favorites, but for me this was a collection of so-so stories with a great cover. Now if I could only find that bat-topped cupcake apron....

These women are rough and tumble, yet sassy and sophisticated. The Real Werewives of Vampire County is an anthology of 4 novellas by Alexandra Ivy, Angie Fox, Tami Dane, and Jess Haines. I hadn't read anything by any of these authors except for Jess Haines before, but I loved all the stories, Jess' especially! The stories were humorous and thrilling with the spice of danger and sex.

I'm not exactly sure when I fell in love with books. Probably on my mother's knee listening to her read Dr. Seuss to me. I do remember that I was barely old enough to cross the street by myself when I discovered the delights of the local library. Could anything be more wonderful than spending summer days surrounded by stacks of Nancy Drew mysteries? Over the years I fell in love with Victoria Holt...more
