I Feel You (Ron and Travis #1)

Ron's life isn't all that bad, well except his housemate is an inconsiderate jerk. The love of his life dumped him six months ago, and if that isn't bad enough, he's overweight. Of course, he's much bigger in his mind than in reality, but that doesn't stop him from going to extra measures to camouflage the extra pounds. He lusts after fine muscular men he sees around town, ...more

Is it because I'm drunk?*

I think not.

If you don't know how to write, please don't publish books.

This was cringe-worthy with the kind of stilted, awkward dialogue that makes me want to curl into a fetal position and whimper.

I Feel You is a farce, a dull sitcom, full of stereotypes and awkward interactions. Ron is overweight and Vanilla (but not in bed, where he's all, "Fuck me hard with that huge cock," because OF COURSE Travis has a monster cock), and Travis is rich and a Chocolate bear.

No Thanks.

I'd read the sequel and so in a fit of rainy-day thought - lets read the first one to see if there's more to Travis than being a big black man.

Well there is more. As well as being a big black man he's also; Mr Chocolate, Chocolate Beefcake and a Chocolate hunk with eyes on a Vanilla treat.

The characters are chocolate? cardboard.

Travis's background could have had impact but was just info dump. His mother is dead. Well so is mine. It's a cheap device without feeling. But he's got a mill

This book about an interracial couple was interesting but I didn't connect with the characters as much as I wanted to. Ron has some self-image issues and feels he's about 30 lbs overweight. Travis, a black man who is very fit from sorting boxes at a shipping company, likes his men with a little "jiggle". After taking care of a sick mother for 2 years, Travis associates skinniness with sickness. His relationship with his mother was very close, but taking care of her for the past 2 years did not a ...more

I Feel You is a multicultural romance, and while reading it I had the feeling to go back to some ’90 romance a-la-E. Lynn Harris type. The Afro-american character is able to make you feel uber-sexy, even if you are not cover-model material, but at the same time he is also like a unconquerable fortress from an emotional point of view.

Ron sees himself as a plain-jane type, but it’s more lack of self-esteem than anything else; sure he is a little overweight, but nothing that has him really out of t

Sheesh. It was, but just barely. 2 stars only.

Uhm. I'm white. My brothers and cousins are all mixed race. My stepfather was Trinidadian, my uncle Jamaican. I also live in multicultural London. I don't know how much that impacted my feelings towards this book so I thought I better mention it here.

I felt uncomfortable with parts of this book - there were a lot of references to the two MC's being "chocolate" and "vanilla" - and I'm not talking sexual style preferences here. I'm not sure why their

I thought about making a drinking game out of every time Travis' skin color was referred to as "chocolate" but I decided I liked my liver and my sanity so I just quit reading.

So this is a 2.5 rounded up to a 3. What we have is a short read about two guys who both have inner turmoil they are fighting against and trying to build a relationship because they recognize what they need/want in the other.

I think my real complaint is that I felt there was a lot of potential here and that the story could have been much more than it turned out to be. I wanted more examination of how Travis dealt with his mother's death and keeping himself closed off. I wanted more of Ron's exa

This seems to have mixed reviews but it was pretty good. The characters were in depth with flaws and they had a good connection. The plot was okay, not really strong but it was held togather by the characters. However the ending was abrupt. I kind of felt like I got to the climax and then the end. Still I'd read it for the characters.
